You know Dr Goobie’s pain was so visceral it could be felt over the airwaves. The pain over his loss and the grief accompanying it was palpable. The loss of his ambitions, the loss of time and energy pursuing goals that turned out to be the wrong ones. We could all relate to that - I had a lump in my throat the whole time as I was being reminded of all the dreams I was chasing led to nowhere.

I have over 30 years experience as MD/MPH doing inpatient, ICU, leadership, and primary care. In the end I was very unhappy. Retired at 60 from the machine. We physicians are being gaslighted and manipulated by non medical management. I now work locums a few days a week and love it. 100% patient care without the BS of corporate. If a place becomes toxic I leave. Never supported before, but we physicians need to unionize or get crushed. To upper administration we are nothing but a replaceable commodity.

RN, BSN, PHN here. As soon as I realized the extent of the toxic, dysfunctional corporatization of the medical system I retired my RN license. I tried to help as many people as I could and it was so rewarding when I did. That said, nursing was so demoralizing in that we have to fight the system to give patients the care they deserve and need.
It was the worst, most disillusioning career I ever had.
I saw Dr Goobies video and commend him for being a brilliant man and an even better human.
If more docs did this then perhaps maybe the system would change.

I wouldn't call what he did a "rant," though I get why you said that. It was a "slow," quietly spoken talk, because he seemed to be carefully considering everything he said, and he seemed to be saying it from the heart -- not reading it off some prepared script. Mosquitos were attacking him the whole time, but he stuck it out because what he had to say was important to him. People are hungry for a feeling of genuine truth vs. all the hype we constantly get on social media and youtube, especially when it's regarding the state of healthcare in this country, which seems to be led by insurance companies rolling in the profits. Thanks for sharing Dr. Goobie's video.

A new wave is coming because of brave people like you guys. Can you imagine what medicine could be like if we oust the malaligned system and integrate the best of both worlds?! It’s really exciting to imagine. Thank you to all of the beautiful souls on this front wave.
The first step is observance of the situation at hand. On the macro level, so many are pulling away because the current system is not only outdated but unwell. Built on corporate needs. Not human needs to thrive.
Like a body that has an infection, each of us are cells upon it, and can shift this ‘body’ again into better health.
The medical frontwavers are brave and a pertinent part of this.
    Thank you 🤘✨☀️

I was concerned when I read that doctors on the average don’t live as long as the average person! I asked my doctor about this and she said “Yes! It’s true! “ …. One of the things that has helped many be happier is a simplified lifestyle. Also shedding toxic friends if they have them. And pursuing an occupation that they really love. Etc. So “YaY! I agree completely with Dr. Goobie. The "healthcare" system has become a death trap for both patients and providers alike. I am a Nurse Practitioner. Worked in "healthcare" since 2008. I have taken care of patients from the White House to top Generals of our nation at Walter Reed. I've worked in Primary Care, Psychiatry, and Neurology and it's all the same every where I go. I had to leave because you cannot be ethical or moral in our system today. Only GOD can heal us. This is happening for a reason, but we all have a choice. I choose to tell the truth. Medicine has been about Fixing - or trying to fix things - rather than relating to people, learning about them and their stories. Health and Healing are Never addressed in training - at least they weren't when I trained decades ago. Med schools do not train healers - but mechanics and technicians. There are many medics who become exceptions, but medical schools do not promote them. The financial rewards may be grand for modern medics, but neither do pills nor operations heal as Dr. Goobie has recognized.

Great words, so glad to hear it from a urologist!
as a medical student who aspires to be a urologist, do you think there is a way to make better medicine as a urologist? do you think this is different where health care is financed by the country? or it is something that is more pronounced in the USA?

We don't need the middle man. All that is needed is the patient and the healthcare provider(Doctors, nurses etc).

Agree with you and Dr. Goobie, but.........my Uro Surgeon gave me my life back via aquablation, got me off a catheter I had been on for three months. No amount of proper eating or nutrients or meditation or sleep was going to fix me. I needed surgery.

The only medical doctor I've had for decades is my OB-GYN for required exams (to receive hormones). I have been an energy practitioner for decades and also have worked in whole food nutrition. When I talk to most physicians, they treat me like a freak because i am not 'medical model' and I trust my intuition when I make medically-related decision. Very frustrating that most doctors are so rigid in their views. You and Dr Goobie are so needed to open the minds and hearts of physicians and the medical community.

I am also very impressed with Dr. Goobie and just watched his video about the reasons why he quit neurosurgery. I'm retired, and I feel like I've gone to heaven. I'm in Canada though, where there is no for profit hospitals, and we have a different focus.

So you make this video thanking a Doctor for making a life changing decision and putting it out there. You stated that this message resonated with you. ...In what way? What did you learn? how will it change your life going forward? How will this change how you do your practice or live your life? You really did not elaborate on much!

We share many similar experiences and struggles. This bond gives me energy and hope that We are capable of peace and health.
So I will continue practicing urology, and do my part to improve how We see health. As others come to a similar understanding, perhaps everything falls into place.

I say move forward and find out for yourself. Learn as much as you can, and remain open minded. The field of medicine (like everything) is always changing. It also feels like there is more customization of the job that is allowed for.
So even if the field is far from ideal, you can tweak and dial. This is what I aim to nurture with this TH-cam endeavor- a fresh way of looking at my job.

2:14 labelling Dr. Gooby's video as a "rant" is a gross mischaracterization.
    Rant:
verb - speak or shout at length in a wild, impassioned way.
"she was still ranting on about the unfairness of it all"
noun - a spell of ranting; a tirade.
    "his rants against organized religion"
Dr. Gooby's delivery in no way, shape, or form at any time in the video in question was loud, wild, nor a tirade. Nor was his delivery impassioned.
In fact, I would characterize Dr. Gooby's delivery as dispassionate and disillusioned, which is exactly why he wanted to share his experience. The system itself is toxic. That's the only reason a man of his achievement, education, and intelligence would quit.
    It was not a rant.
