Really great tips. I am jotting them down in my notebook. I have two more work days until retirement and I will start after the holidays to put in place all the tips I’ve been noting from your videos. So hard to believe at times I’m almost retired. Thanks for the video!
I too love those hangers with the clips. I use them to drip dry my pants and jeans. Also, I use a cash back credit card for every possible purchase I make as long as they don't charge me a fee for using a credit card. I usually get over $500 per year cash back. Of course, ALWAYS pay in full each month on the due date :) Like you and your husband, I'm trying to remember to ask for senior discounts. We just got a good deal on cell phone service. I was so proud of myself! LOL!
Good tips! The only thing I would caution is the quick wash cycle, I've heard it makes the motor work harder and if you only use it, maybe your Machine might break down faster.
Interesting! This is my first time with a digital machine, and I do not like it. I don’t feel that it cleans very well without an agitator either. The old ones with an agitator are really hard to find.
Hey Bonita thanks so much for mentioning about washing your laundry on speedwash I am like obsessed with anything laundry related. And I'm looking on my washer right now while I am sending you this comment and I see quick wash I'm going to give that a try tomorrow. And see how that does since I got my new washing machine I have kept it on normal and never changed it and I realized by what you said I might be able to get quicker wash done and hung out quickly.
One of my grocery stores had a digital coupon for the weekend only for a free 11 oz bag of coffee when you spent $35. They did not have the coffee that was on offer so I spoke to the manager and she gave me two 12 K-Cup boxes of coffee for free in its place. When there are offers if they do not have the product, it pays to talk to the manager.😊
And just as a tip to all of your viewers, when my husband's check was stolen washed and written for the different amount when we were at the bank reporting what had happened they gave us some gel pens. They said gel pens are actually better to write checks with so I believe they said it's harder to wash them.
We pay all of our bills by phone. Just a few of them online. I actually pay mine about 3 days before they're due as some of the credit card companies will actually say it takes a couple days to process. That way I'm never late. We used to do it the old-fashioned way up until a few months ago we would write checks and mail them. My husband through his business had a check stolen out of a mailbox a postal mailbox and the check was washed and written out for $5,000 when it was supposed to have been $1,100 to pay his electrician. It is under investigation but so far we have not recouped that money.
Wow 😮 saving 1200 dollars a year, just by unplugging what you’re not using, is insane. Electricity usage is very expensive. We have a provincial subsidized electricity program that targets lower income households by reducing their monthly bill. Also, there are 3 types, (on peak, mid peak, off peak), of electricity rates in a 24 hour period and on weekends it’s the lowest rate of usage. This way, at least we have the opportunity to choose wisely when to best consume energy.
Enjoyed this video. I am trying to figure out the peak hours. Question, if we skip the ads does this affect what you receive from TH-cam? Thank you again! 😊
It's kind of funny I am able to unplug my washing machine when I'm done using it. So I thought I'll do the same thing with my dryer and so I unplugged my dryer now I always have the circuit breaker off to it but I never unplugged it while I started doing that and my husband said he happened to come down one day and she said oh my goodness why do you have that unplugged and I said well it's because I don't use the dryer he said don't you have it turned off at the box and I said yes he said oh my goodness don't ever unplug that again you also unplugging the freezer. Oh my goodness I had no clue.😮

Thank you for being here!!
On and off for years we have put an emphasis on identifying the disposable items we use then at least considering reusable alternatives.
👍👍

The new machines are still slow. I remember when a wash was 20 minutes! The fastest now in mine in 33.
@@PenniestoDollars 👍
My local dollar store throws away their hangers with clips; if you ask them, they will give me as many as l need…I use them for hanging my skirts!
Great to know!!!!!!!

Great tip! Are there still rain checks or have they done away with them?
@PenniestoDollars my stores have done away with rainchecks sadly
@PenniestoDollars no more rainchecks😔
@ I was curious. I haven’t asked in forever.
❤
💚
Before we go out the house or before we go to bed I unplug except two fridges
It helps so much. We do it here, too!
I wash clothing on fast wash cold water
I remember when washes use to be 20 minutes. I wish there still were.

Yes for sure, I had never heard that before

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that! Mail is so slow these days, that I rarely mail a check. But I still use it for other things like oil changes, etc.
@@PenniestoDollars yeah I got you.
I am the same way I am guilty of forgetting to ask for discounts
It’s hard to remember!
@@PenniestoDollars it is. I almost feel like it's going to change when we actually look like senior citizens, LOL then nobody will question it, LOL
I forgot about flipping the dryer 😮
👍
What does aarp offer ? The cost is 12$ and I need to make sure I’m getting double the money back lol
you can google it
They have multiple discounts for restaurants, hotels, dental, etc
@ I’ll have to check them out. Ty
Will turning a breaker off & on hurt it in any way? for example, my water heater? thank you!
I’ve done it for years without a problem. I suppose anything can wear out over time.
@-thank you!
I am 56 on pension I ask for discounts I use my pension card for discounts
That's great! Always ask!

We have peak hours which I avoid.

That is how we get paid, if you let the ads roll. I understand they are are long many times. I called my electric company to find out the peak hours.

Yeah you have to make sure nothing else is on that circuit. Glad he caught it. I can’t unplug my new washer or it messes up the settings.
@PenniestoDollars 👍
Don't use or have a dryer
👍👍👍👍👍
❤
And Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas to you, Barb!
