Its a dry rack and pinion nathan pull the boot from the tierod from the rack a greese the shit out of it and turn the wheel back and forth

Also has tight/stiff steering. Sprayed liquid wrench on it but still stiff. Any suggestions?

Every spring I go to a car wash that can clean the undercarriage. This cleans off all of the road salt and brine. Then I go home and spray the entire suspension with silicone. Most of the time the squeaks go away.

Yes but remember the e39 kit is different for the 540i so make sure you don't buy that kit , here is a amazon link to the arm kit for your 523i amzn.to/2n9tCj3

Nathan are the eBay control arm kits any good? The ones you purchase aren't Genuine BMW right I've heard these don't last very long

@Tj Semeniuk wrong, i have an e53 and it has been driven on snow for a loonnnnnngggggggg time now. if you open the hood or look underneath u cant even see a single stain of rust.
