The space overlord idea is a much more convincing plot point than chasing a pet frog down a hole after touching a radioactive box that somehow made its way into your backyard, falling several hundred feet and being fine despite dying from stepping off the curb wrong ingame, and finding a tank that you somehow know exactly how to drive, and a protective suit somehow custom-tailored to your physique.
Yeah, this was one example of how localization totally screwed up the concept.
This game was the closest thing in the old NES to what we call "a sandbox" in current consoles. Think about it: You have an entire world to explore, with no map, no clues and a completely non-linear approach (jumping from stage 2 to stage 7, for example)
That's why this masterpiece was so unique and revolutionary back in those days.
This and the first Zelda were probably some of the earliest "open world/sandbox" type games. There's also Hydlide, but these games handled it much better.
Best NES/Famicom music...Sunsoft had some real talented music composers during this time.
Ahh, this one brings back memories. So many milestones... first time I passed level 1, first time I finally passed level 2, then finally level 3, 4 was a breeze, but that crab in stage 5 kept kicking my ass. Then finally seeing levels 6, 7, and then 8... and then came the day I beat the game. We didn't have TH-cam back then, I had to do it entirely on my own.
Likewise. As a kid, found a Saturday to try and beat this game, after 8 painful hours, made it to the end. Now that was a journey.

サンソフトのゲームでマドゥーラの翼とコレはかなりやり込んだ
上記２作品、バットマン（１作目）、ラフワールド、ギミック等と
サンソフトのアクション物はなかなか粒揃いでアクション好きにはたまらない
ケイン操作時ボムボタン押しっぱでケインの方向固定できたはず・・・
それ使えば道中ボス共にメチャ楽になるのになぁ

I like how the instruction manual tried to keep the Plutonium Boss a secret, not showing his picture and saying "he's the most powerful of all," when really, he's just a giant knight snapping a whip at you. Some sort of underground dominatrix. I think they did the same thing with Gannon in the Zelda manual.

@@locke103 I know. The hardest boss in the whole game is the crab in level 5. The only way to beat him is to have your gun charged up.
@@ExplorerDS6789 never liked area 5 on the whole. my dislike for the boss is just the icing on the cake.
I'm fairly sure the Plutonium Boss was actually the giant skeleton guy BEFORE the "ultimate evil" that's not shown.

Once I read your comment, I straight away researched that title (blaster master zero) and yes it’s soo similar to meta fight(it was called that game back when I was still living in Manila if my memory serves me right)

@@bubufubu That one is the original name in Japanese, but for the rest of the World, it was published as "Blaster Master". I had the oportunity to hold in my hand and play an original copy of that masterpiece .

The game was made over in Japan. It wasn't made in America or any other country. All you're talking about is some lame generic localisation conjured up, likely, by some asshole American executive who had absolutely no part in creating the game.
@@bubufubu All Japanese video game manufacturers publish 2 versions of the same game: one for Japan and another one for the rest of the World, because they know that NOT EVERYONE speaks/reads Japanese. That being said, BOTH are official versions.
If we follow your logic, then All translations are stupid. Say for example: you don't accept "Castlevania, Rondo of blood". For you, it's only valid as "Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondó".
