  • Macron is Knocking on The Doors of BRICS. Here's Why | Vantage with Palki Sharma
French President Emmanuel Macron has asked South Africa for an invite to the upcoming BRICS summit. Egypt has officially applied to join the grouping and Bangladesh too expects to become a BRICS member during August summit. Is BRICS becoming more powerful as a multinational organisation? Why are countries flocking towards BRICS?
Reports claim the US and India are close to agreeing on a deal to jointly produce jet engines ahead of PM Modi's state visit. The deal would signal US commitment to share critical technology with India, something Washington has refused to do in the past. How important is jet engine technology? How will this deal impact India's defence industry?
China missed its industrial output forecast for the month of May amid calls for more financial stimulus to revive the economy. Investors who praised the Chinese growth story are now calling for "political change" at the top. What explains this downward slump? Is this the end of the Chinese Dream?
The political stalemate in Lebanon shows no sign of ending, even as an economic collapse seems imminent. Hezbollah blocked economist and former IMF leader, Jihad Azour, from becoming president. The 12th attempt to choose a president fails and Lebanon is still without a leader seven and a half months after the former president stepped down. Will the politics stop before Lebanon's economy completely crashes?
Lionel Messi's move to Inter Miami has jacked up ticket prices by more than 1,000%. The club is expected to get $45 million from jersey sales this year. Elsewhere, Beyoncé 's concert is being blamed for the stubborn inflation in Sweden. Palki Sharma tells you how mega-celebrities are shaking up economies.

The invitation will only be sent if all members agree to it. BRICS works the same way as the UNSC where all members equally have to agree to a proposal. The reason why Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Uruguay, Argentina & Iran are about to get in is that they have excellent ties with all the BRICS member countries and no conflict of strategic interests
If Russia shoots down the proposal to invite France, then they won't be invited.

I am Serbian who was pro-West-oriented, or rather pro-American, to the bone, before the 1990s. My views did not change throughout the 90s, the conflicts that took place in former Yugoslavia, even with the bombing of Serbia in 1999 because I believed that we deserved it because of the atrocities the Serbs committed during the wars. With time, I learned that a lot of that narrative was simple BS, that the Western powers played an incredible role in flaming the conflicts and supporting certain parties of the conflicts in line with their political interests, thus, the prevailing Western narrative was not supported by facts. It's now 30+ years since the conflicts in former Yugoslavia started and I find myself, for 20 or so years now, as anti-West (or rather anti-American) as one can be. It was a learning process though. In that process I understood the dirty political propaganda, supported by the laughable media (in this case the Western media which I thought were independent, well...) and became a determined patriot who wishes for Serbia to regain its sovereignty (it's a Western colony currently, economically and politically).
In that sense, I understand that a lot of Russians don't get what is going on right now with the attack of the West on their country because they were under the Western influence for too long.

    • @Matthew_Loutner
      @Matthew_Loutner ปีที่แล้ว

You are now spewing a lot of propaganda:
      1. Western media is 100% independent of the governments.
      2. No one has attacked Russia -- Russia attacked Ukraine and the war is currently taking place in Ukraine -- not Russia.
The rest of what you claim to have learned is probably just some propaganda that someone told you and you naively believed it.

CIA controlled governments and media has infiltrated many minds across the world... From head of states, to teachers and preachers in our communities... It's hunger to run the only narrative everywhere including our minds. If some people eventually figure out they're being propagandized, it is essentially irrelevant as the core majority will not understand their mental shackles, and will consider you a conspiracy theorist for questioning the mainstream narrative 😂

BRICS seeks to create a new currency, considering gold's historical role as a store of value and medium of exchange. However, the functionality and acceptance of a gold-backed currency in the current global financial system are uncertain. Creating a new currency requires careful consideration of economic, political, and logistical factors.

    • @DavidRiggs-dc7jk

The discussions and proposals surrounding BRICS nations' potential use of gold are intriguing. People choose to buy gold for various reasons, such as its historical role as a store of value and medium of exchange, its potential as a hedge against inflation or currency devaluation, and its relative scarcity compared to other commodities. Gold also offers diversification benefits to investment portfolios due to its low correlation with stocks and bonds. However, investing in gold carries risks and may not be suitable for everyone. Investors should carefully evaluate their objectives, risk tolerance, and financial situation before deciding.

Brics main aim is to broaden cooperation among members + to stimulate sustainable growth + progress.
France did not ask to join Brics, only to be an observer with the 2023 summit in Jhburg. NATO's track record since 9/11 does not make its members ideal additions to promote the aims + objectives of Brics.

LOL BRICS won't need "former colonial interlopers" to manipulate and cause the eventual failure of BRICS. The only real power in BRICS is China and Russia.
And does anyone REALLY think that either China or Russia cares about anyone but themselves? Both of those countries will see themselves as the "leader" of BRICS. Neither will allow any mechanisms within BRICS that they don't see as benefitting their own country.
Both of these countries are on unrecoverable downward spirals; why would any country want to be aboard that ship as it sinks?
Of all the countries mentioned in regards to BRICS, the only one that is "trending upwards" is India. And a LARGE part of the upward movement of India is tied to it's closer relationship with the US. India is DIRECTLY benefitting from the US's disassociating itself from China.
But at some point, India will have to stop trying to "play in the middle". India will have to commit to the US and the West or to Russia and China.
Does any Indian REALLY see Russia and China as the best choice?

What are you afraid of ? It’s not 1800 ! We don’t want because we’re European !! Don’t make the same mistakes as the beginning of the EU !
The main goal of the EU is peace and stability. (it is written on the official website)
But just discuss, participate, and debate the future of humanity as an invited ! (Especially on environmental issues which are currently not respected...)
Presidents for 20 years have said word for word that France must get out of the influence of the USA. (cf: Iraq & Vietnam)

@@quentinl6724 There’s a bit to unpack and I’m not sure what you are trying to say… but France doesn’t need to be part of BRICS to maintain relationships with African Nations.
In the 1950’s the Western colonial powers, put together the trading and loan agreements with their financial institutions and corporations for the colonies, which are still the basis for trading today. These agreements include a section ‘Inter State Dispute Settlement’ system, where corporates can ‘sue’ Nations for trade reparations - read ‘Secret Coup: How Corporates overthrew Democracy’. Because of this system, African Nations have never been fully independent, and they know it, so they are looking at alternatives like BRICS, Russia and China were never African colonisers and that’s the attraction. I am living in France and i am from one of the poorest country (actually a BRICS member) at the time in the 70's.
France in the 80's (70's was probably the same) was one of the fanciest countries in the world.
Now we are living miserably in France (i just explain below).
Except the invention of internet (all over the world, France is not an exception), nothing has improved in France.
Actually insecurity, poverty, bad education... are all increased.
Macron did nothing for changing, on the contrary he made life difficult for French citizens of lower and the middle classes.
'Gilets jaunes' movement, He said he wants to 'emmerder les antivax', etc. What a shame!!!
Surprisingly French people re-elected him a second time. Yeah this is a one of the French paradoxes.
French people are still saying we have the best health system in the world, the best educational system...
All these were true in the past and it is not true now.
But French people are still refusing to see the truth. Our country is collapsing and their heads are buried in the sand
Should Brics invite Macron (our French leader) at the next Summit.
My heart says yes (for the sake of French's future), but my conscience says NO.
NO to my fellow Macron who does not respect his own fellows.
Macron said he wants to score a blow by going to the Summit (for his ego i guess).
    So definitely a big NO

India, the 2nd most polluting country.
      China, 4th.
      Brazil, 7th.
For just these 3 countries, In total 235k tons annually ! That is 22% of the global plastic pollution.

France should not involve in matters that does not concern it or Europe. Likewise it does not make sense to have France in BRICS because they are not a developing nation and being from Europe and part of G7, NATO makes their membership counter productive to BRICS. There is a conflict of interest not being part of developing Asian or African nations. Will India be allowed to be a part of EU? Definitely not! Hence the same logic applies to France.

And, since Britain and Co don't insue russian trade any longer, China can become a major world underwriter thus becoming a major financial market trader. Let not forget that its currency is slowly replacing the dollar. I remember Lavrov said that russia has accumulated a large reserve of rupees, but I can't recall him complaining about too much of yuans.
