Universal diesel hell. That looks like a bulletproof Yanmar. Damn great diesel 💪

Thanks for the upload, exactly what I was looking for. However my girlfriend doesn't find it as interesting, so I'll have to finish it later.

How about a clogged exhaust mixing elbow? On an old engine, the pipe/tube/casting, downstream of the exhaust manifold but before the muffler, can get choked with internal rust you cannot see from the outside. That's because hot gas + salt water (from the heat exchanger) + iron = a recipe for rust formation. When the rust gets so bad, the engine cannot exhale, and it runs okay at idle but at wide -open throttle it still runs....but at idle rpm (with of course much-reduced power).

Great video!! Love it!! Just one question what's the model of the Yanmar diesel being bleed about 34 min into the video?

1:09:48 It shows a trick to find a diesel fuel system pinhole leak. Bubbles somehow appear in jar of diesel from which the lift pump is sucking in fuel. Do these bubbles signal a good fuel line or a bad one? How does the trick work? Transcript:
"Start with the line from the water separator to the lift pump. Disconnect it from the separator. Place the line in a jar with a clean diesel below the level of the lift pump and operate the lever on the lift pump. If the fuel comes through without air bubbles, replace that line and go to the next one, back towards the tank. Keep repeating this process until you've isolated the leaky fuel line, valve or seal."

Thought all videos were very good. Could not find the one I need. Currently trying to adjust the throttle linkage at the Edison pedestal after replacing ball joint attend engine at of things. Won't go into the forward gear unless done manually. Thanks for your efforts! Joe
