  • The new Irish Accent started in Dublin some years back - by whom?
    Now its spread like a plague as far as Galway, even the so called foreign nationals are using it.
    But for some reason it stops at the border with Northern Ireland - why?
    I hate it too Gay.

    Speaking as an Irish person (not Oirish) what gets me is not prouncing "T" ... Miriam O'Callaghan's "New York Cidy" just drives me insane. Or Stephen Donnelly's "Communidy Care". I don't know where it came from, it's completely contrived. For me, It's remote and switch time.

      Yeah that alveolar tap is definitely an American affectation I'd say. Probably from D4 kind of speech which has spread. It annoys me a bit too but sure things always change
