Hi Everyone and Welcome Back to My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing project.
OK, Pumpkin print just in time for Pumpkin pie over here. This blouse is actually pretty cute, BUT I didn't like the method that they had you put the collar on so I did it my way. Also I mixed and matched sleeve and cuff variations. As you do. But in the end, such a fun comfy blouse. I hope you like it!

Very lovely, and the colours of the print totally work with your hair colour 😍
Great techniques Marie. Thank you 🙋🏼🏴
Love the material and pattern. In awe of your talent! Many thanks to you for sharing excellent videos!
This is my type of blouse. Comfy! I’ll be making this pattern for sure.
Marie, great job. The changes you made make sense. Thank you.
Suzanne
Turned out great and looks super good on you. You are such a good teacher and I enjoy your videos so much!
Thank you so much for this video!
I prefer to follow a Sew along in addition to reading instructions.
This video came just in time as I'm getting ready to sew this pattern for thanksgiving!👍😀👍
Yay! How serendipitous 😁
Beautiful blouse, top love the creativity. Also what a lovely place you live at. I wish I was there too, fresh air, lots of animals, the wild flowers and trees. How lucky you are Marie😊 well not many flowers now, but I can only imagine.....
I always love your choices of fabric ❤ beautiful colors
Hi the top turned out so nice.
So very pretty and the color is great😊
Love Love it
And the material it's perfect for thanksgiving
Beautiful as usual. I love the print.
Love the fabric, really cute pattern👍🏻
Love what you choose for the sleeve situation, 3/4 is my favorite. It turned out so nice, fit looks great! I can picture you roasting a turkey and making pumpkin pie in that!
Thanks Jen! Yep, 3/4 length sleeves are so much more usable for people who have a lot of things going on. Especially in the kitchen where you don't want to get your cuffs in anything. 😊
What a pretty top for Thanksgiving❤
Beautiful color on you
Looks so nice. I just finished mine and I loved the fit.
That blouse turned out so cute on you. I always look forward to watching your sewing videos on Fridays.
I actually have this pattern but haven’t attempted it yet. Thanks for the collar application information as well as adapting the sleeve to fit your fabric. Very cute finished project 😊
Took me all day to watch the video, but I didn't have more than 10min at a time. And I love it. The detail collar tutorial is great. And the fabric is awesome. ❤❤❤
Thanks for your perseverance!!! I know my videos are long. Just don't know way around it 😊
Hi love your pumpkin shirt have been thinking about making a blouse but think that’s for new year
Thankz
Great fall shirt.
Very cute!
Thats a much better way to assemble the collar, rather than having to deal with the entire blouse!
I love that fabric, the colours are wonderful. 🍁 Pretty much only see those sorts of colour combinations in quilting cottons here, which is a bit of a shame.
That sleeve is such an attractive combination of both the sleeve styles.! You could also have done a binding instead of a cuff, just as another option.
It all turned out lovely 😊
Yes, I think I finding around the bottom of the sleeve would actually work really well for the option I chose. Good idea 😊
I love it!❤️
Such a pretty blouse! I will definitely be using your collar instructions on my next project! I thoroughly enjoyed this episode! Please show us the sequined gown you made!!😊
I will definitely show the gown, probably in a few more weeks. I am waiting for the reveal photos to be sent to me before I publish the video.
@@mybucoliclife I'm sure it turned out beautiful. Hopefully your client will be okay with you sharing the dress and your methods got working with the sequined & glittered fabric.
Beautiful blouse Marie. I love your fabric choice, so whimsical. I'm going to make this out of cotton calico with a holly berry print. I'm going to try and follow your collar instructions. Wish me luck.🤞
Have fun!
Your sewing keeps me centered. Love watching you sew and I LOVE the pumpkins. Thanks for being authentically you and sharing your gift with us
Thank you so much!
You are the greatest! Your videos are so detailed, and I am happy to say that I am almost finished with my S9467 thanks to you. Happy Thanksgiving and many thanks for your teachings. Best...
Glad I could help!
If you put 1 of each button on the cuffs they would match 😂 beautiful blouse.
I’ve made this shirt twice now both in flannel and with variations to the sleeves. It is one of the most comfortable tops I’ve made. You always knock these out of the box and I love it!!❤
Thanks! I love the idea of it in flannel 😍
Oh Marie, those pumpkins are gorgeous on you! I love the pattern and you always do such great teaching videos. Thanks so much
Thank you for making this video! I have this pattern, but as I mostly only sew indie pdf patterns, I was a little scared/taken aback of this. I also never have sewn a collar with a proper stand before, so I appreciate your tips :)
I know I'm biased, but I do like my version of pattern instructions for a collar a lot better than the ones on the pattern. Good luck you can do this.
I enjoy your channel so much! I'm a lot older than you and I appreciate the "alternative" methods that were "normal" pattern adjustments from my youth. I really don't know why the pattern companies persist in these kind of directions? Waist bands too?
I also have button hole scissors 😊
I just don't think that they know any better. I have found that some of the best sewing instruction out there is an old books. I still fall back to my Bishop method. More along the lines of big picture and common sense sewing methods.
What a fun blouse & cute print. I could see a couple of "hacks" to lengthen it slightly (to better cover my bumm) to wear with leggings and possibly, make with a knit, but instead of having the front open with buttons, cutting it on the fold to make a solid front...do you think that would work or am I being too over ambitious in my thinking? Happy Thanksgiving, I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.
Lengthening is easy, closing up the front with a knit and a collar can wait to other issues. Placket opening anyone?
This blouse looks great! Nobody will ever notice the difference in the cuff buttons if you don’t mention it first. Looks like there’s plenty of room to get your kitchen work done on Turkey Day!😊 Thanks for sharing your work.🦃🥧😻
Thanks Norma. Yep, I'm just going to wear it and if anyone ever does notice, I will let everyone know 🤣
Thank you so much Marie. I have this pattern and was hoping someone would sew it ❤😂❤
😍
Thank you for another informative video. It's inspiring to see that you adjust the pattern and the methods to suit your own experience and wishes. With lovely results.
Ok...how do you keep your scissors so beautifully sharp?!! Do you sharpen them yourself? have a regular sharpening appointment? or are they just magic ever-sharps?
I got my scissors sharpened about a year ago from a knife sharpening guy in town. I have my scissors that aren't the best that I try to use for things that could dull them. They don't stay ever sharp, but they last longer that way. Thanks for watching!
I love this blouse. Love the material, love the pattern. Wish we could have seen the sequined gown.
Hi Diane, yes you're definitely going to see the sequin gown. I shipped it off to my daughter and I'm waiting for her to send me back the reveal photos. I got to sneak peek though and it does fit her well so very happy there.
Thank-you for this and the other videos, I look forward to them every Friday. Can you tell us how you go about decide which fabric to purchase, please?
Do you start with the idea and buy the fabric or do you start with the fabric and then come up with the idea?
I am afraid that I have a very unscientific method for choosing fabrics and patterns. It's more than Marie Kondo method of looking for things that spark Joy. Does that fabric look like it would be an amazing dress? Well grab five yards of it! Too expensive? It'll be a small dress, grab three yards. Hey look at that cool pattern (grabs it) ... And then I end up with a huge conglomeration of all kinds of things that spark Joy at my home. And hope that divine intervention kicks in, and puts the right combination together in front of me. I know it's not very organized, but it works for me 🤣😊
Hi Marie! I learned a lot from your Lutterloh tutorial. Would you consider trying their pants/slacks pattern? I don't know anyone to ask questions if they are satisfied with the fit.
Sorry to post it here, I didn't know how to get in touch with you.
Thank you
I'll try to get to that pretty soon.
