I'm waiting for the call in Round 4 (RGN 47272). In Round 3 I received a service grade 1943 Remington Rand with a G.I. slide (Colt National Match Hard slide) a 1985 barrel and a few mix master parts. All of the roll marks and inspection initials are there and legible. The Army Ordnance crossed canons has a "MR" over strike from the Mount Rainier Arsenal, but the canons are partially visible. All in all I am very pleased with the one I have. It shoots very well and I haven't had any failures. I'm a USAF MSgt ret ('73-'95) and served as Security Policeman, armorer, ABGD. Crossed trained from SPs into Operations Management where I was assigned to fighter squadrons and had many opportunities for travel. I also served as First Sergeant. I commend the CMP for their work and making these great pieces of military history available. Nicely done.
That's a pretty nice 1911, very nice that it has no pitting. I paid $650 for my 1st service grade Garand in 2012, $1,000 for my Service Special Garand about 3 years ago, and $900 for my 03A3 about 3 years ago...those prices make me cry lol...wish I had gotten into collecting much earlier. Still kicking myself in the butt for not getting a M1 Carbine years ago...Thank you very much for sharing sir.
@SLAYERxX420 funny you should mention that, I just recently got a National Postal Meter M1 Carbine. You’re exactly right though, they're getting very hard to find...especially at a reasonable price.
CMP's grading is definitely all over the place. I believe you hit the lottery with yours! I would be over the moon with a matching colt slice and frame! And with the amount of wear it has just makes it perfect! I cannot wait to put in for round 5!
I'm waiting on my first 1911 from the CMP, I put in late October, so I'll be another 6 months or so. Hopefully, service grades will still be available then, I just got into the CMP last year so its super cool to see those old catelogs!
I agree, with you on the grading process. My service grade had a rack number on the grip which looks like they miss graded it. And it also has replacement parts, thumb safety, grip safety, and slide lock are darker. The lower frame scratched the barrel slide on the right side the first time I took it to the range. My lady was eligible through her service organization. She is widowed (her husband was significantly older). He was a waist gunner on a B-17 that was shot down on his first sortie. He spent two years as a P.O.W. LSS. She received a service grade Colt frame/Remington Rand slide. It was in EXCELLENT condition with no pitting, or rust, and minimal wear except holstering wear. Original grips or period correct ones. All the roll marks etc were exceptionally visible. I was quit pleased with what she received. AND she enjoys shooting it. It wouldn't be the one her husband used, but it IS from his time of service.
I have a round 3 and its my most cherish firearm. The history of these is really something. Hey Rusty I just sent in for my first M1 Grand. The CMP is saving our history and I Appreciate it very much. Thanks
Hey Livida Cool hope you get a nice M1. I have been collecting from the CMP since 1996 the guns are history and they get more and more valuable as time goes by. THANKS for watching !
Hey Patrick about a year ago the CMP opened it up to people to buy a second one. Get the news letter on line and sub them..to get all the news. I will buy one more if i can. THANKS for watching. I subed ya too.
Very nice Colt. Thank you for sharing a little about the rifles in your collection and CMP pricing glory days past. My Round 4 RGN is coming up soon, and I'm struggling to decide on which grade to request. I wonder if later round pistols are being graded higher than earlier rounds. CMP did say they pulled best condition pistols first from Army inventory because they did not know how long the CMP 1911 program would last.
Brett yes the best ones first and i went for the service grade both times because there is no pitting. The field grade could have pitting. Hey It's only money.. cant take it with ya. Hope you get a good one and make a video so we can see what you get. Thanks for watching ! I subed ya too.
@@RUSTYSURPLUS Thanks, appreciate the response... This will be my 2nd CMP 1911. The first one was a Round 3 Field Grade Colt with US replacement slide. I'm very happy with it, no pitting, excellent shooter. A lot of Round 3 Service and Field Grades had replacement slides. Definitely rolling the dice if I go with Rack Grade this time. Sure, will have to do a video of the two pistols when the 2nd one comes through. Subbed you as well!
The CMP never knew how long this program was going to be. So they started off with the best guns first. So now in rd 4 , theres a definite difference in condition. As I understand it to be. I just got my rd 4 all Colt. Same grade , very similar condition... Its just what I wanted....
Cheech hello you got that right.. a difference for sure in the grading. Now the CMP said that the best first. still i am real happy with mine. All colt can't go wrong with that. Thanks for watching and i subed ya too. My rd. 2 1911 was the greatest ever. th-cam.com/video/Jb_FtXRO01Q/w-d-xo.html
Good Evening Rusty. First of all thanks for all the help with HL. Secondly, if you would like a Spanish copy (at least cosmetically) of a 1911 style pistol to go with your 1911a1, James just told me that they have a few Star Model A's and B's in stock. Just thought I would mention it to you as they are unlisted and I wanted to share. Great video and take care!
Hey Robert you got James 👍ya.. they have the Star pistols but they need parts i think that is what he told me a wile back. I did get a CZ 27 from them and put a lot of money in getting it to run.. and still working on it. Did you order any thing from HL ? Let me know and THX for watching. I took that 1911 out to the range and worked perfectly. Later RUSTY
Wow it seems like just yesterday I sent my packet in, i found out about a week before the deadline. Very cool that it is all Colt i hope I can be so lucky. Have you run a FOIA request on either of your pistols yet? Regarding the grading now, it seems like my rack grade from round 2 was in better cosmetic condition but it had all different kinds of parts on it. RR frame, Colt slide, and 1980s replacement barrel
Hey Milsurp THANKS for watching. You know i saw a video a guy made 2 years ago with the director of the 1911 program at the CMP and he said that they were going to start issuing the best pistols first. So i think any 1911's from now on might be a bit worse for wear. I have not placed the FOIA request.. how do i do that ? got the link ? I have 2 now and gonna keep them for ever. THX RUSTY.
@RUSTYSURPLUS th-cam.com/video/yh--FwyXb9A/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared funny you would say that I just so happen to have a video on it. You can also do the same with your CMP firearms
grading must be on internal function and fit ( my rack grade from r3 looks better and i would expect service to be not worn like yours / my neighbor's r3 service looks brand new
I’d prefer a 1911 from the CMP with a lot of wear and use on it. That goes to prove the pistol was heavily used. I don’t want a mint condition re parkerized 1911 that’s been sitting in cosmolene since the early 1950s.
Nice. I’m looking for the 5th round so I can try to get my second one.
Hey Larry thanks for watching.. If i can get a 3rd one i will.

45100 range here... I haven't heard anything and worried I missed my chance.

I have 2 Colts matching 42 WB and 43 GHD non CMP pistols
How much the original 1911
How much the original ? Not sure .. when it was brand new ? from the colt factory ? 1944

So you got 2: Colts in 2 tries. That's amazing. I don't think I'm going to be that lucky. I'll find out in a day or two
Epps Hope you get one. I think there are more pistols than people that put in. Make a video when you get it. I subed ya too.

Congrats on a nice pistol Rusty! Appreciate you showing us. Nice to see those old catalogues too. Great deals on the Mossbergs! Take care.
How did you get 2? 1911 I was told I could only get 1?

always great content Sir
It's perfect! It didn't sit around and rot, it was used. Therefore, you know it will work. 👍
BBB howdy .. I just took it to the range and it works perfect THANKS for watching.
I dig it. At some point I'm going to do a review of a Norinco 1911 I picked up last year.
Thanks Rabbit Love to see your video !!

You should turn your tv off when making a video
Hell i thought you might like CCR.😁
I got one in round 3, but they only had the worst grade left when I was called, but then later they had more grades. Can't wait until round 5.
Ya they had all 3 grades when i got the call and went for the service grade. It was not as good as my round 2 1911. THANKS for watching !
As always, the CMP is a fantastic opportunity to get affordable milsurps.
Fortunate son in the background was so cool. CCR for the win !
THX French.. 😁👍
in Europe you still can buy a ww2 .30m1 carabine for 500 dollar these days
Happy hello I will buy 5 right now THANKS for watching. I subed ya too
@@RUSTYSURPLUS the big problem is getting them into the us, I shoot a 1944 national postal meter .30carabine myself, wonderfull carabines

CMP devalues guns by putting stampings on them.
grading must be on internal function and fit ( my rack grade from r3 looks better and i would expect service to be not worn like yours / my neighbor's r3 service looks brand new
