I just wanted to show you guys how to set up the throttle linkage when you're converting your Honda GX160 motor to a mini bike motor. I also wanted to show you guys how to plug the hole that you created when you removed the governor.

So I'm building a go kart with this same engine. Now why do karters remove the governor? What is the advantage of doing this? Is it safe for the engine? Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

A governor is meant to slow the motor down to a safe working condition like for a lawn mower. You wouldn't want a lawn mower blade turning at the fastest RPM the motor can turn at. But on a go-kart and a mini bike it doesn't matter. A lot of people say that the governor is there to stop the motor from damaging itself. I could see how they would come up with that scenario. But me and a lot of other TH-camrs and a lot of other people have never had a problem with the motor tearing up from removing the governor ever. But I do suggest that you put good motor oil in the go-kart. I put fully synthetic motor oil in mind that could be a reason why I'm not having trouble

Make sure to get 18lbs or 22lbs valve springs and a billet flywheel, if you delete the governor. Stock cast flywheel is only rated for 3000-4000 rpm, eventually it will Crack and come apart.
