Traveling to Zanzibar with a 2 year old and kitesurfing gear

We were finally able to fly to Zanzibar in January 2022 after 2 years of Covid cancelations.
The place was incredible but above all valued life without any restrictions or face masks!
We stayed in:
- Paje by night for 7 nights
- The Waterfront for 14 nights - highly recommended
Overall it was was an amazing experience with lovely people, nice day trips and amazing beach vibes and parties.
I would highly recommend the Spice farm tour but the Jozani felt overpriced for no reason.. $12 per person for a short walk in the forest.
For kitesurfing it really depends what you are looking for. Beginners will find this a paradise as long as they bring some big kites. 15+ is the minimum if you want to kite as many days as possible in the windy season. I was able to kite almost every day by bringing my hydrofoil with me combined with a 10m foil kite.

We're planning to go at the end of May. How prevalent is Malaria? I've read mixed opinions

From the discussions with the local the malaria is only prevalent in the very north part of the country so I would worry to much about it. We were bitten by mosquitos but I wouldn't worry to much about it. We had malaria pills with us just in case.. What's more prevalent are stomach bacteria - we all got sick with diarrhoea - all 10 people from the group. Some basic antibiotics should be in your luggage as well as anti - diarrhoea pills. Besides that it was an amazing trip 🤣🤣🤣
