I do not own, nor do I claim to own the rights of Babymetal's music.
I just saw them on Friday in OKC!! They were Fantastic!! Crowd participation when they played this song was through the Roof!!! And I'm still feeling it in my legs today!! LoL!! At least my hearing is back to normal now (actually scared me there for a day or two - sooo loud) but would not have missed it for the world!!
Oh, and Megitsune has been my ring tone since 2013!! Quintessential Babymetal!!
Thanks for the reaction and as always....
Put your Kitsune UP!!
Monochrome PIA arena 2023 is epic! Didn’t realise that you haven’t done this one 👍🏼
Nice reaction! That was a seriously fun reaction video! Thank you🦊😁🔥🎸
"Megitsune" is definitely one of their most loved and best songs and the most played live one: 379 times... and counting! Also one of my very top favorites of all time.
BABYMETAL fans are called "kitsune" / "megitsune" (fox / female fox) individually. They are known as The ONE collectively.
So... "kitsune" up! 🤘🦊
Probably their best song to date...Syncopation is up there to. BABYMETAL to the max! SU-METAL is one of kind!
Agree! Syncopation legend MM is epic!
I mostly agree with you but I have to include TOTD and Rondo of Nightmare to the mix. Brilliant song writing that has stood the test of time.
Nice reaction! This song is so perfect!
Babymetal = Fox
Lovebites = Wolf
Megitsune is usually played early in the set to really get the crowd up and going and it always delivers. It's one of the all time fan favourite Babymetal songs, regularly winning fan polls for the best Babymetal song. They play it at almost every live performance they do. At last count it was their most performed live song with 379 live performances.
I was at PIA Arena for this performance and it was the loudest and most frenetic crowd I have been in for a performance of this song. I was jumping up and down like a maniac and yelling "Sore! Sore! Sore!" with the rest of the diehard kitsune. This show was held to officially welcome Momometal to Babymetal, so the whole show was a celebration of the rebirth of Babymetal in it's new form so the crowd was hyped.
Babymetal tend to visit America most summers for the festival season, so there is a good chance they will be back there fairly soon. They're coming to Australia in Feb-March for Knotfest, then they're doing a 12 show arena tour in Europe in May. There will probably be a Legend show in Japan in April before they head to Europe, but nothing has been announced yet.
I knew you would like that one! Great review (as always) I’m lucky to have my tickets to the final performance of the European arena tour at the 02 in London 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
👍👍Awesomely awesome performance🔥🔥🔥. The MV is also a must see. 🦊 🖖❤
if you watch the music video of this song, when Su says "Maiden should not be underestimated" she pulls a tanto (small dagger) from her mic
Spoilers.
Nice one. 'Megitsune' is a big favourite. It dates back to 2013 and often comes top in fan polls and it is the song they have played live more times than any other. It is also arguably the song that showcases better than most what BABYMETAL are about and one that truly reflects their Japanese culture the best starting with the traditional instruments (shamisen or koto, you decide which) in the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains Su's fox mask🦊) which, in Japanese mythology, are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive.
It is also a bit of a push back against the traditional subservient female role in Japanese society, saying that is changing I think - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength.
They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not kitsune (foxes), they are megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong.
The melody used in the intro and in the breakdown in the middle of the song is from the very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms).
In this one there was not just one guitar solo - both guitarists had a play, then the bassist and finally the drummer while Su was talking to the crowd.
When Su spoke a couple of words and did her high kick she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss.
BABYMETAL's live concerts are on another level. Their choreo is interpretive and relates to the lyrics but it is mostly about leading the crowd - and the crowd at their concerts become part of the performance so they do get whole arenas jumping, chanting and so on in unison.
I looked up Japanese gangster movies and found that they were very old movies, Mr. Grington knows more about Japan than I, a Japanese person, do, wow!😎
@@yunametal344 I'm only repeating information provided by much more knowledgeable people than me ... and I can never remember the name of the film even though I've seen it written down many times.😉
@@Grington300 Maybe the title of the movie is 『鬼龍院花子の生涯』
I don't know the English title, but according to Google Translate, it is "The Life of Hanako kiryuin". May be an uncertain information.🙏

@@yunametal344 Yes, that's the film. It was called "Onimasa" outside Japan. 😊👍
@@yunametal344 As Road Runner said☺👍
Megitsune is their most performed song for obvious reasons . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Their most played song to date and I understand that Su uses it for sound checks before most concerts. I think they have dates in Australia before the big European arena tour next May. We have tickets for the O2 Arena in London on 30th May, capacity 20,000. Can't wait 😀🤟
Yep, I have too. There is going to be a runway and a suggestion of recording as some places were moved
I believe they did Pa Pa Ya and Monochrome for soundcheck in OKC....
Kitsune UP!
@@Tom55data That may explain why our seats were moved two blocks along but nearer the front. A runway would be excellent. Get to see them closer up 👍
Great reaction!
Great reaction great intro what else can we ask from our boy TwistedShredder 💪
You gotta watch in your own time (or make a video reaction as well) to the official video of this song, it has a better audio quality IMO 🔥🔥🔥 you’re gonna love it 💪
They'll be in Australia in Feb! Keen.
You heading to Knotfest to see them? Hopefully they will announce a couple of side shows as well.
@Icipher353 yeah that's right. I'm hoping for side shows too, but wanted to make sure! I'm not into anyone else at Knotfest.
10:27 Well, Moa once did a Mario impression, so...
Great response, I recommend separately evaluating the BABYMETAL drummer, Anthony Barone.
Anthony Barone // BENEATH THE MASSACRE - Rise of the Fearmonger
Hell yeah shredder! Megitsune is just an epic Babymetal classic. The song they play the most live, ~380 times by now!
And as you brought up, they do a lot of audience engagements. I was at their DC show a few weeks ago, and out of the 12-song setlist, there were at least 6 songs they had audience engagements built in!
Suggestions:
*Akatsuki (Budokan 2014):* For Su-metal’s amazing vocals.
*iine! (Official MV):* The switch up that’ll slap you in the face… and when you just about recover, it slaps you again! 🤣
🤘🦊
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's not a wolf it's a female fox
BABY METAL🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥
