With the videos you have not posted yet of the flips, I would suggest waiting until you are on your journey to post them. It'd be worth getting it rustproofed, try and find somewhere that really knows how to do it (they'll deal with Japanese cars and land rovers, which rot for a pastime)
A good tip for preventing or slowing the wheel well rust: before each winter remove the taillights and pressure wash the inside where the well meets the bedside then use fluid film. Been doing this to my 2007.5 1500 since new and still not a spec of rust 👍
Looking forward to you hitting the road! I watch a lot of road trip, camping and van life channels already, so you won't lose me. I think it's a good step content-wise.
The key to keeping a truck Rust Free.... Regular weekly washes including undercarriage. Use a wash MIT to break the surface tension of the grim so it'll wash off. You can use the foam brush but it doesn't get everything. Thays why you should follow up with the wash mit.
Car detailer here, yea washing the truck frequently will prevent rusting. Don’t use brushes because they scratch paint and can cause premature clear coat failure.
@@85square Some people drill holes in their rocker panels and use Fluid Film, oil-based rust prevention to prevent rust then put a rubber seal over the hole they made. It's seemed to work well in the salt belt.
Yes a quick going over of the whole truck with a wash mitt, just before rinsing, would have been great. 10 minutes of extra work could have made it awesome. A microfiber wash cloth could have been used as long as it’s rarely used, due to scratching, but in Vermont for once a year, it’ll be better than a gentle wash mitt.
That's a clean truck for a 2009 and the mileage.....its been nowhere! Being a Brit I'm looking forward to seeing the real America from the drivers seat rather than the Hollywood version we get to see.
Hey! I’ve owned a bunch of that generation of Gmc and Chevys and one tip I would give you for rust prevention is in the rear wheel wells pull the rubber plugs out and blow all the dirt out with compressed air then hose them with fluid film and do the same on the rockers below the door and even in the drain holes in the doors. It has worked amazingly well on the trucks I’ve owned!!

I love the upgrade. Do your self a favor as a plow truck and with that low mileage not too sure if you know this. But as a plow trucks the owners keep them running alot as so they can stay warm in the winter if they plow parking lots and houses they keep them running to stay warm while they're jumping in and out shoveling sidewalks driveways. My brother bought a 2010 duramax rust free, for only 10k. The only problem is it wasn’t running when he got it and he thought it was bad sensors but it turns out his piston crank is bad, but even if he has to buy a brand new 6.6 it’ll still be a better deal than most 2010 rust free duramaxs with 140,000 miles

Brushless car wash??...
Awesome truck..great deal, congratulations.
I’m new to your channel . I must say I’m glad I stumbled across it. Although I drive a super dirty I’m not sure why this was in my recommendations . But I will be subscribing can’t wait to see where this truck goes
Congratulations for your new awesome truck....I bei happy to see your journey ....
Nice buy on the GMC $10k not bad at all especially with all the tool boxes and the rack. I can see you recouping a $$ if you wanted. I'll definitely watch the vlogs you put out about your trip around the ol USA. Kinda looking forward to it.
Clean or dirty it’s a really nice truck!! Great price too!! 71k on a 6 liter you have a ton of miles left on her!! With it being a little dirty just shows it’s not a “Pavement Princess”!!! Trucks are made for workin!!!! Have fun and have a safe journey!! I’ll be watching for the vids on the road!!!
Looking forward to the travel video. You should definitely check out the Duluth Area and the arrowhead area in Minnesota.
My recommendation is once your done with your traveling, KEEP THIS TRUCK. Continue with the buying, fixing up, reselling for a profit but KEEP THIS TRUCK.I have a 05 Silverado that I plan on driving until the body rots off (hopefully waaay in the future) and my angst has already started because I would love to get another truck but know that by the time I'm ready the good ones will either be out of my price or all gone. Enjoy your travels and stay safe!
Dude you can't even get a truck like that in upstate NY for 10k especially that clean and with those miles. Looking forward to seeing the travel videos. Awesome videos bud. Keep up the good content!!
Congrats my dude! Very nice truck at a great price. Down here in Texas that truck could go for 5K more with that mileage! I'm excited to follow your journey!
Do what you feel is right. Life is adventure. So enjoy it. Keep up the good work.!
Looks like you scored and got a great deal. I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500hd with the 6.0. I absolutely love it. It is a beast.
Hope you come to Colorado, great truck. Looking forward to your travelin videos.
Nice truck. That drivetrain is pretty much indestructible. Looking forward to the travel vlogs! Imagine driving that 454 dually cross country. You would be stopping every 100 miles for gas.
I'll be sticking around to watch the journey, that's a dope idea and sounds like a fun trip. Something I'd be into doing myself. I'll definitely be watching. Good luck and God speed!
Im excited for the new life change! I wish you all the best bud.
dude congrats. dont feel guilty. looking forward to travelling vlogs!
really enjoy watching this video, i can't wait to see you travel hope your not going alone
To get rid of the noise from the ladder rack, wrap the bar in the front with rope. There are videos on youtube demonstrating it.
Dont feel bad at all man this is what its all about. You got a really good deal on the truck.
Sounds like you have quite an adventure planned! I'm looking forward to following along!
Good choice on going with the heavy duty. No DOD issues to deal with and a heavy duty transmission.
I'm going to miss the blue OBS, that is an awesome truck. The Sierra is a great truck as well but doesn't tickle my childhood memory strings.
Congratulations on your purchase and I can't wait to see your new series of videos that are coming.
If you ever come to Louisiana let me know! I'd be more than happy to take y'all out on a swamp tour/fishing/whatever you'd like!
My wife is from Vermont she lived on the Vermont/Massachusetts line in whitingham Vt. She lived there till she was 12 then her family moved to Kentucky and has been living in Kentucky even since
I hope you have a safe trip. I enjoy your channel, keep up the great content :)
Congrats! Beautiful GMC. I wonder what the previous owner did to keep it rust free? Is it a northern truck and / or was it oil sprayed?
Looking forward to all your adventures. Good luck 🍀👍
10k?!!?! That is an incredible deal. Good stuff man! Now just to get a nice flatbed trailer and you'll be set 👍
