Bro... This might be your BEST video yet!!! BTW, you stole that rig at $6K. Looking forward to the "semi" series. -Andy in St-Albans.
Thanks!!
Yeah, who thought you could buy a Semi Truck, with a car transport trailer for $6K?!! Hard to lose much on that, I'd think.
I graduated from bfa
Congratulations bro.........a single axle is a great tractor to pull you setup you can scale you loads and trailer without much weight restriction.........great Buy.......👍🏾
Has no one looked and realized it has over a million miles on it. That’s not a steal that’s average pricing for a extremely high mileage semi especially a Volvo.
That was a great buy and you did real good for your first time driving a big rig. I agree with duals on the drive axle. Usually tire cupping problems are caused by loose steering parts, bad shocks or simply being badly out of balance to begin with, also make sure the wheel alignment is okay. Congrats and thumbs UP!! 👍
Thanks!
4:06 "I've driven these before" not the first time. Please listen to his words.
You can find front tires for around $300 each. And I'd definitely switch to duals on the drive axle. For traction and also if you have a flat or a blowout, you can limp it somewhere on one tire. With super singles, you're stuck wherever you are. Side of the interstate, on a curve, a city street, wherever. Chances are you can trade someone even up your super single wheels for their dual wheels. Some guys like them for the weight reduction. Best of luck truck driver!😉
$300 hundred, where are you buying tires from, the back door??
Duals are a LOT more expensive than super singles. If you’re not going to be out every day relying on this truck for work or whatever, the singles should be fine.
I would caution against driving it in the winter with them, though. I can’t count the number of times I’ve gotten stuck.
There’s also no way your getting virgin steers for $300 each, and if you do find them, that’s cheap enough that I’d be suspicious as hell.
@@KSE828yes you can get them even lower. u gotta know people we get them virgins for 245 NEW each we have a trucking company
I totally agree with these guys. Safe travels.😁🙏
First thing first check your king pins for play. Then front shocks. Those tires usually don't just cup or wear like that.
And wheel bearings as well.
I'm a mechanic at a fleet shop, we mostly run volvos and macks, although most of our stuff is a little newer. These trucks have been relatively trouble free, we do see a lot of issues with fuel systems getting clogged up and throwing low pressure codes, there is a banjo bolt on the fuel filter inlet and it can get pretty clogged up. The mileage is pretty high, and considering the lack of blowby and not many leaks, it has probably been refreshed. You should check king pins for play, grease all the points in the suspension. Those tires aren't worn normally, I would check wheel bearings or alignment. Only major failures we've seen air top end, mostly cracked heads and one that dropped a valve. Overall seems like a great buy, 6K is a steal for what you got.
Hey! 1 Q. Which brand actually offers relatively more reliable heavy engines?
Amongst Volvo/ scania/ man/mach .. .. ?
@@rubbersidedown7992 I'm american so we have different trucks over here, but we've had good luck with our volvo d13s and cummins x15s. I don't know if you have international brand trucks wherever you are but if so stay far away!
@@Hdogdog7 👍
Just be careful semis dont like sitting for a long time sometimes brakes start sticking in the drums just be sure everything is good whenever you get back to driving and dont forget to keep up on maintenance
With semis, you never want to cheap out on front tires. Don’t necessarily need the most expensive ones but you always want good condition tires. If one blows it’s obviously dangerous but it’ll completely destroy the front end of the truck. New hood, fender, and headlight minimum. Otherwise this thing is awesome. My dad had an 07 with 1.2 million miles on an isx, but a full sleeper truck. Might be worth heading to a truck salvage yard and seeing if there’s better seats to buy, maybe with better armrests or whatever else. I’m subbing for this because I really wish I had an excuse for a single axle semi and I’d specifically want a Volvo too.
True stay away far away from Chinese imported tires, your life and those around you depend on them!
Great truck. Definitely get a professional dot inspection done by someone who you trust so they can look at the airbags and the brake Chambers. Keep cash on you when you do take for your first trip, the heavy towing companies charge a lot less for cash than they do credit or check❤
You look jacked,Working out?
Nice rig! Let’s start hauling !!!!
P90x
Dude 6k for a semi AND trailer is a fuckin steal, grats man, gl learning!
Good luck with the CDL getting a class A is difficult but it seems like you already have the hang of it
Balls Baby, Balls !!!! Seeing those tires and then seeing the rain, Balls man for a maiden voyage.
Awesome buy and cant wait to see whats next.
9.8 mpg! Better than I thought lol. Great stuff man! Keep it up!
New Fuel filter, new oil filter, check all brakes shoes/drums, slack adjusters, air canister, S-cams, bushings for your suspension, leaf springs (check for cracks), king pin on your steer axel (might be causing uneven tire wear), check your hub oil, see if hub cab is leaking, wheel seals. That’s a good start and get it all clean so you can see where the leaks are originating from. I’m not a mechanic just a fellow trucker.
That's a steal of a deal for that that setup is worth at least 12grand!!💗 you basically bought the truck and got the trailer for free!!👍
Watching the drive home I could tell everybody wanted to pull out infront of you 😂
Awesome job! As a trucker, I am impressed with your driving skills without having your CDL. You did a fantastic job shifting. What a deal on the truck, super cheap! Were you using the clutch to shift or no? Looked like no. You shift those by rpm and not so much by clutch. Well done if that’s the way you did it! I’m sure you probably know about the “clutch brake” as well, right? To get it into first gear, you have to put the clutch to the floor. I’m really impressed with how well you did with it. You must have had some stick time in a yard somewhere. Good luck, I’ll be watching!
Thank you! I was floating best I could and I have a messed around a bit in the yard before. Appreciate it!
Those 10 speed Eaton don't have syncros so u shift without clutch if u try 2 your gonna grind alot I used to drive alot 10 speeds
@@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182 also, it’s a four hundred rpm span between shifts, for example, upshifting pull it out of gear at 1600, it goes in the next gear at 1200rpms. The opposite is true for down shifts. Good luck!
When you shift gears watch your rpms and take your time when shifting ,it's not a race ! Good luck

This is my favorite TH-cam channel, it’s so authentic!! Always looking forward to the next video :)
Congrats! 🎉 Definitely looking forward to seeing your channel grow with this bad boy! 👍Keep up the great work!
man I really love these videos. been on a binge for the past few months and these just keep getting better and better. keep up the good work 👍
That's a fantastic buy for sure! No blowby either that engine was very well taken care of or had an in frame. Most volvo engines will crack heads before the bottom end goes, know plenty of people that have well into the 1.6 million and only cracked a head. The slower you accelerate and the lower your rpm stay's on the highway the longer the engines going to last.
You definitely need steer tires, they'll be $500 each minimum! Looking at how they're worn, you either have broken belts in the tires or your alignments out, soon as you get steers on it go for an alignment (Very in expensive and will save those pricy tires) and check over that front end thoroughly.
Take my advise or don't up to you. I'm an owner op and was a truck mechanic for 5 years.
Thanks!
Truck engines don't rev to 7000rpm, they spend majority 1500 1600 rpms, it's about oil and air filter maintenance
Exciting purchase. Your hard work is paying off. Keep killing it!. Exciting purchase. Your hard work is paying off. Keep killing it!.
This coolness factor is a few notches above the greasemobile purchase............
That's a good deal man. I haven't had trouble from a Volvo engine when I drove truck. Work on progressive shifting. Shift at 1200-1300 in the low range and 1350-1450 in the high range. It should be smoother.
Exciting purchase. Your hard work is paying off. Keep killing it!
Congratulations... another awesome find! Looks like there's a lot of potential for what you can do with it & that includes having a lot of fun. Enjoy!
Found your channel recently and this is the sickest thing so far. Got me tingling. Very much needed at the moment.
A smart Vermonter would take that thing down to Florida and fill that trailer with 4 rust free cars. Drive it back to VT and sell them. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this thing.
Excited for the video series! And that truck sounds great too!
Great buy, great video, Keep em coming, enjoy what you do in the videos buying, fixing, etc. Stay safe and take care.
Congrats looks like an awesome truck good find! Hope you get your cdl with no problem. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Sweet deal nice buy. That motor will be more than enough for what youd be hauling. Its probably underpowered in dump truck/vocational applications.
And yeah get duals in the back, also safer if a blowout occurs
In a place that gets snow and ice the traction of duals is infinitely better
I think check brake ecu is common after dead battery too
Damn imagine the money you could make with this getting 4 cars from Florida and bringing them to our rusty state lol make money and bring some non rusty cars to sell at the auction, the 3,000 miles round trip would be nothing to this beast too, my dad used to go to this auction and take me with him when I was a kid before he moved back to live in Florida so it’s awesome seeing your videos of the exact place lol, He’d always bring cars without titles (over 15 years old) and sometimes Japanese cars or muscle cars to sell that would usually be long extinct in the north
Man! That was a great buy!! Outstanding job!!
Very cool purchase! Nice job driving it home. I was wondering where you'd park this beast. Should come in handy for those multiple purchases/drop offs at the auction.
Your shifting was impressive! Its like you’ve been driving rigs for a while already
Congratulations on the truck.
Congratulations 👍🏻 nice semi, looking forward for more!
Love the auction videoed! Keep up the good work !
Love the sound of a diesel! My dad worked on trucks and inspects them
This is so cool! I work up in Derby Vermont detailing cars at a place that sells cars and big trucks like this. Every now and then I clean big trucks like this. You're right about the seats. Most of them are awful.
Something about gas station burritto's that turns gas(farts) into a chemical that rots p-leather seats.
@@thomasallen6980 they seem to get really stiff. Almost feels like sitting on a church pew.
Woooowww what a steal! I can't believe you got all of that for 6k! Can't wait for the next vids and seeing what you do with the trailer! Congrats!
We are in the BIG LEAGUES now. Congrats 💪
Sweet buy! And I was pretty impressed with the driving!
Now that's what I call a car trailer !!!!!! Well done !! I enjoyed watching you drive it home. I was smiling with you.😁
Good buy! It looks like so much fun. Great.
Great video, can’t wait to see more content on the truck!
Congratulations on your purchase. That’s going to be cool videos once you get your C D L. good luck
I work at a Volvo dealership and deal with ABS all the time. I’d be willing to bet that it’s just a chafed wire or a sensor not pushed out on the last brake job hahah. Just look for the wires most likely tied up on the brake can or axle and follow them to the connector. Test resistance with a multi meter and it will tell you which end is bad, tractor or sensor. Easy peasy.
Congratulations and welcome to the big leagues
Way cool rig! Good purchase.
congrats great buy, have fun with it!
Excited to see the series. Good find
Wow great deal on the combination! Congratulations
WoW your in the big leagues now. That rig is neat.
Congrats on the buy. Nice Rig. 😊
Nice buy bro , you are killing it
WOW, sooooo happy for you. As the saying goes, you gotta spend money to make money. You will have no trouble getting your cdl. Best of luck. Look forward to you getting it ready for the road.
congrats man. keep on truckin!
What a score! Congratulations!
Excited for you man, thats a great looking rig for 6k! For the trailer tires and drive tires you might want to look into getting a grooving iron, those heavy tires can usually be re-grooved to get your moneys worth out of em.
Your channel is growing fast,....I've been subbed for at least 2017 years...
Awesome new reg, this should really help grow your channel with much more efficiency. God bless
Loving the content keep it up!
Don’t cheap out with a semi on maintenance. Mr DOT loves people who cheap out on maintenance!
Thats a great grab for your first Rig and always remember to float those gears to save your clutch.
Man bro keep uploading plz I love the content
Great Hot Shot Truck for the Price!! I turned in my CDL about a year ago I am retired from driving and my 22 F150 suffices enough. Great Videos
Awesome buy good luck
Nice! Now you can get all your cars you buy at an auction home in one trip! Good luck getting the CDL!
That's awesome! Looks like a good truck for a great price. Now go get your CDL so you can sponsor me 😂
Thanks! Give me 2 months haha
Whatever Waldo....we don't ever get any Cool Cornbinder vids anyway. 😛
Heck of a buy there for that price! After replacing the steer tires duals on the rear would definitely be a smart decision.. Two biggest buys right there. Possibly need new batteries as well?? Good luck with CDL school I'm considering going to get mine as well.
Don't use spray cans, Use PPG ALK 200 Alkalid Enamel. This paint is very good for what you want to do on the trailer. For less than $100.00 you get a gallon sprayable, you don't reduce. I sell this paint every week.
wow that is huge for you and your channel!!
I've been a truck driver for 20 years, and you did very well on floating the gears. (Shifting without the clutch). The one thing you should work on is to learn how to double clutch. The DMV inspector for when you take the driving test will need to see that you know how to double clutch. Study hard and practice your VT state maneuvers. Good luck. Great buy on the rig and trailer.
Tip in shifting that you will learn in CDL school anyway, unloaded you can start out in 4th or even 5th, and you don’t need to rev up to get moving, just let the clutch out then feed it fuel. Even loaded I usually started out in 3rd, 2nd only going up hill. I don’t know if you’ve been floating gears while downshifting yet, that takes practice.
Congrats. Your the man.
You stole that combo. When you get your CDL, it won't be a problem hauling multiple cars from the auction. Keep up the great work.
Looks like you got a decent looking tractor rig and trailer
Damn what a deal on that thing, shame that auction house is 20hr from me lmao
Badass man, I love Volvo semis
One thing about those Volvo D12(it doesn’t matter if it’s underpowered you’ll be towing cars. It has more then enough power) They’ll last forever. But Sensors will be key thing to take care of. There’s no DIesel Exhaust fliter nor DEF . Which is great!
Take off the Supersingle. And put Dual wheels on. If there’s no to little Blow by. There’s no need for a rebuild. That truck will last for a long time.
What a damn good deal, dude!!!!
very good purchase, success for you
Deffo fit dual tyres on the drive axle , also fit some spares under the trailer , much cheaper to swap a blown-out tyre for your own spare than trying to buy on the road , those Volvo trucks are brilliant to drive , our company has 60 of them , all cabovers of course in the UK due to vehicle length regulations , great chanel mate , Waldo recomended you
Damn I’m jealous. That’s a nice ride man.
Damn good shifting overall!
what a sweet truck man
You should see if you can find a semi truck junk yard to score parts like a new/used seat and dual drive wheels.
6k for that beauty? Damn, where i live you can get only half of a trailer for that money. Great buy, congrats
I love the new rig. And you stole it for 6 grand. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Keep the videos coming!
Awesome purchase, you are becoming a mini conglomerate.
Dude if thats your first time driving a 10 speed rig you did super good ! When i got my cdl there were multiple kids that had been there for over a yesr snd couldnt go from 1st to 2nd
Dude this is rad!!
I don't think any of us expected you buying a tractor-trailer. It may be a bit big for many of your needs, but maybe you could do some transporting of cars, trucks, equipment in the your region (maybe for that auction you go to !) to get from income from it. Good luck.
Did good on the deal bud. Soon as you get new streer tires definitely get a alignment job. Those have wear showing alignment/shock wear. Super singles are beter for fuel economy but when you blow one you are done.
This will be a great addition.
Think ole Joe for the CDL school......
Love the videos.
hey, great job on the driving for being a first-time driver. I will say that for the amount of power and gears that you have, skipping gears is going to be tougher than it would be in a 13 or 18 speed. One thing to improve would be to slow down and watch your engine rpms closely (lining them up with the transmission for a smooth shift) to avoid grinding gears, once you have those figured out you can shift gears blindfolded.
Love these videos
