There’s a few MeatEater podcasts that I watch or listen to that afterwards I smile ear to ear and tear up a bit. This is one of them. God I love this life.
Team, this is a great episode. There are about a dozen episodes that I am a repeat watcher of (American west, Alaskan native, ancient dog, Captain Cook). I’m so excited to add this to the roster. I’ll be watching it AGAIN tomorrow. Thank you Matt!
When i was an apprentice i worked with this old dude that had two rules. Rule #1 “I’m always right. “ Rule #2 even when im wrong im right. That cleared up a lot of potential issues that might have found occasion to arise.
One thing you will never beat is a deer’s nose. His eyes and his ears you can. But if a deer is downwind it doesn’t matter what you do they will smell you

Wow. Thank you, Meateater for introducing me to this guy. I'm a hunter and a drag racer. Didn't see that coming. What a great story. Matt has good/profitable future in speaking to groups/companies. His apotive family is a real gem. Great episode. Thanks.

Matt is one of the best guests I have heard on this podcast. He has a personality that overshadowed the hosts, pretty rare.
Nothing better than a good sense of humor to go about live! Great dude! God bless him!
Great episode! Some really nice topics covered. Matt is a badass and way cooler than i'll ever be. I wish MeatEater would take him on a hunt.
Turns out it WAS indeed the duck stamp episode. 😂 Even when he’s wrong, he’s right! Great podcast as always.
Came just for this comment

Woohoo meateater kids!!!
How did he get the headphones on?
I don’t know but I would much rather have to put on a pair of headphones than shoot a bow with nothing but my feet
You could just use a VPN so your point of online presence is in Arizona. Adds another layer to the discussion I think. Get with the times, Arizona!
Wow, love his confidence, kind of makes it hard to make excuses when you have all four appendages. Excuses aren’t in his vocabulary 👍
Sounds like he got lucky with some good parents
We need to see Steve cough up that fiver

When are we going to host Joey Santore? Crime Pays but Botany Doesn't, would be a great discussion on public land.
