- Dr. Ko shares something he was reminded of at the MAPS 2023 Psychedelic Science Conference. Psychedelics are not the cure-all we may think they are, and stresses the importance of discussing set and setting and potential risks.

As someone who is seriously considering psychedelic therapy, thank you for putting this up. Counselling, therapies, and medicines, however helpful and healing, are just those - aids and support, and not substitutes for our own responsibility as moral agents of our own health and well-being. Treat a psychedelic journey, not as a passive "cure," but as a powerful opportunity to help you move passed deep-rooted barriers, in order to heal. That you allow yourself to face yourself and the greater world unseen. connect with these in full openness and potentially bring healing and a connection (or reconnection) to Life that stays with you after your return to this good world.
I don't know if this is accurate. Based on what I have read and heard, the above is how I summarize my expectations. Not seeking hallucinations, only clarity of the soul under clinical guidance. Only people who have went on the journey, under clinical guidance, can speak to this.
I tell my doctors and PT's that I use psilocybin for treating my severe chronic pain, some are shocked, others were surprised to see how beneficial it was. I told a pt when I was using it and they actually saw a huge difference in my capabilities.
I've told doctors and nurses treating my neuropathy with ketamine that some patients would consider the side effects as fringe benefits, not risks.
I am waiting on my meds. I understand there are risks in everything. I hate feeling like I do so I pray it even helps a little I will take the risks.
Thanks for sharing your experience! We wish you the best on your journey

Good wisdom.
Thanks for listening
indeed their not for everyone. just like a regular therapist isn't for everyone. What I can say is I'd rather become my own therapist on drugs, rather than someone else being my therapist, not understanding what I've been through.
True!

even with good settings, drug can still ruin patient's life
