This sounds strange, but I get such a dopamine hit when you take home so few items. It feels good that you can pick up an item and say "this is what I'm looking for but I don't think I'd wear it so im not getting it", it's so counter to current fashion culture attitudes. Not only that, but I love that you repeat pieces of clothing in your videos! Everything about your channel makes thrifting feel reasonable and approachable!
I so agree! I dont understand when creators go into a store and leave with like 10+ items?! Where do they put them? When do they wear them? Its ok to leave with nothing. You should love what you bring into your home.
I agree so much! I started thrifting in high school and in the first couple years I would by a lot of random stuff that I ended up not wearing. I consider it a personal growth that now I only buy pieces that are truly perfect, fit in my wardrobe and I know I will wear it a lot. It feels so much better!
Never really understood why anyone would try to keep up with "trends" especially now. It's really freeing when you just don't care anymore. And if you feel like people won't like you if you're not "trendy" enough or not entertaining enough, you don't want those people in your life. Just avoid buying fast fashion new (thrifted only) and wear what suits YOUR body type. Not to mention some of these trends are for a VERY specific body type. I've always had "juicy" hips (I refuse to call them love handles), so low rise jeans are a hell no for me. Always high waisted. And naturally big boobs makes anything backless, halter tops, and triangle tops impossible or painful/uncomfortable. The swamp boob is real! I think people focus too much on short term happiness vs long term.
I love that you are including some plus size figures in your example pictures. Please keep representing us plus size girls in your viideos. I love watching your videos, but the representation of other sizes is *chef's kiss.* Please stay intentional in being inclusive of other bodies.
I really appreciate you measuring and considering very carefully what you buy. It sets such a healthy example for people thrifting. Buying something for the sake of owning it, or for a style if you never wear it is such a waste when you could instead leave it for someone who will wear and get use out of it! Thank you for showing these items and your process of deciding this.

My family allegedly have celtic ties to Ireland, but that's never been proven. 😔It could be a myth. As another 😎LA native (a couple of decades older than Alexa), I can say with confidence that we're rather a linguistic hodge podge of cultural influences. All sorts of words, expressions, & even specific accents handed down from ppl that came from all over the world🌎. Our lexicon has become a hybrid of these cultural influences. 🤔Just watched a short video on Appalachian words, & realized some came out 🏜West. There were a few on the list that were used amongst the older generations of my family. I recently said cadiwompus (askew) to describe something off kilter. My friend from 🏝Hawaii (only 7yrs my junior) had NEVER heard it. 🙂He called me a hill-billy for using it too. I cannot deny that particular possibility. It’s so funny how goth is rolling back into trendy. As a full time goth, I’m not mad about it. Hopefully that means I will get as lucky as you and be able to thrift killstar or some of the other alternative brands that I feel like are hardly seen at thrift stores once the trend has died down. I think it's a double edged sword because it is easier to find goth clothing but I fear it being reduced to something mainstream and shallow rather than a subversive subculture

Honestly, both outfits you made are AMAZING! I could totally see the whole black velvet outfit as like, a date night to a nice restaurant kind of look and the second *chef kiss* is amazing. I don't really follow trends at all, in the sense that I change my wardrobe to match, I do enjoy looking/watching fashion videos, but I also just kind of wear whatever I have, and if something from the trend style speaks to me, I incorporate it into my wardrobe.
Both of those skirts were so cute! You could even do those same outfits but switch the skirts for two more cute looks. I'm loving fairy grunge aesthetic right now and I think the final piece I want to thrift for it is a plaid maxi skirt.

I love both the skirts you got, I like how you are very selective and more looking for things you will really wear instead of just a huge haul for the video. I love cobalt blue so I'm happy for that one. I feel like sheer and lace comes in every spring just like velvet and plaid comes in every fall. The grunge and goth looks are ones I can already style with things I own. I do have a pair of silver metallic converse (which were thrifted!) so I can mix in a little silver without buying like a whole silver outfit. Miniskirts and baby pink are ones I won't be wearing. I don't know about that statement stripes thing. I have a few stripey sweaters but they are all horizontal. Hearts, I dunno, I feel like heart prints in clothes can look a little too young for my style, but I do have a couple of chunky heart necklaces. I like adding in a trend with accessories.

If not, you take a pair of pants, and hold them around your neck (so you have two layers of waistband around your neck) try this with your best fitting bottoms to figure out what fit you like, then you don’t have too try on pants that don’t fit! Btw seriously love your videos, you are one of my favorite TH-camrs
