  • Hi guys, this is a first run review of the Hobao Hyper 8SCe. Build quality is fantastic. I got it as a roller with no electronics and a clear shell. I installed, the motor from the Hyper MT which is a 4076 2000KV, the Hobbywing Quicrun WP-8BL-150 ESC, the 30kg JX servo(25.2kg at 6V) and a Flysky GT3C TX/RX.
Out of the box, suspension setting is too soft. The shocks felt like there's only water in it. Dampening is very light and the springs are also too soft. Definitely NOT for big jumps. Although Vas from Aussie RC Playground can do it, but i won't suggest it without any shock tuning.
Also, the rear aluminium brace shown by Vas is not a stock part, that's an optional part which you have to purchase on your own. Overall, I'm happy with the vehicle. I just have to spend more time tuning the suspensions for taking some good ramp jumps for bashing.
    Thank you for watching.

Nice body upgrade, for the shock u should use 650-700 cts.bolted some nut for the front and rear bodypost with a longer m3 screw all way throuout for more durable to avoid poping out due to few tumble.

good job, this truck is based on the hyper 9e which is a good old buggy. i got a few trick for you : on hard crashes, you will bend the long center shaft : to prevent this, shorten it by a few millimeters, it will help. Takes care on the small ballbearing in the whole transmission, they are meant for racing a light buggy, not bashing a truck.

Thanks Stephane. How do you shorten that center shaft? Do you put something in the center drive cup? How do I improve the suspension? I want to change the shock oil to 35wt. But the springs I have no solution now.
So the platform was generally meant for flat surface and not jumping? If it is, then I understand why it's set up that way.

you have a universal joint at the front gear box with a screw holding the main shaft : take it, shorten the shaft with a grinder ( make sure to grind a flat spot for the screw ). regarding the suspension, put some thick oil, i run 600 cst approx for jumps. i didn't say it jumps badly, the hyper 9e was a great jumper. i just say take care of it and as the weight is located front, keep some throttle when jumping !

i don't have any better picture: imgur.com/a/MeyHd that is not a pro tip, it's a tip from regular guy that was fed up with the center drive shaft ! actually, later i even put the center diff in the middle with 2 regular shafts !

According to what Stephane said and a quick Google search, it seems so.
