As a longtime Montblanc user I can say these new collections have fewer and fewer things to do with the brand I was used to. Montblanc leather used to stand for timeless, minimalistic, functional, quality and masculine accessories. In a word, German. One color besides black at most. By all means Made in Germany. These new ones have nothing to do with that, they look like some Italian fashion brand like Gucci or Ferragamo. They got pricier, but the quality dropped. I still own leather from the Meisterstuck and the first Nightflight collections. That was the Montblanc spirit and quality. I don't recognize the brand in these anymore. If it wasn't for the white star logo, I never would have guessed what they are. Shame...

That will be sad, if true... But it seems many companies with heritage are falling into the same kind of trap hole, if you will... Now it's about profit, not so much about PASSION, which is that drives the good old companies in the past to glory: Montblanc, Pelikan, Parker etc...

Once The premium business brand, classic, timeless quality, now sadly an inferior fashion item with the sole purpose of selling fads for maximum short term profit. The company has forgot it's roots & it's client base & even their pens aren't as good quality as they were 15 - 20 years ago. If they don't change direction soon, they will loose their loyal historical fan base & the people at the top will have a lot to answer for if the brand goes under!

You are so right. This is exactly what I said yesterday in my comment. The sober Montblanc brand has turned into a gaudy fashion brand. It's very disappointing. Montblanc has never been a fashion brand. And it has never been Italian.
