  • In this video, I show and explain how Plumeria can be very easily propagated from stem cuttings. I explain how the stem should be prepared, what the best soil(less) mix is, what is in the rooting powder, and what to look for as the roots form and the new leaves on the cutting expand and elongate.
My success rate and your success rate will be 100% if you follow the simple instructions in my video.

People grow Plumeria here in southern California, but unless one is right on the water the plants struggle. The nippy winter nights away from the water, as well as the very low humidity, tends to hold the plants back.

I know a few plumeria folks in Texas, who grow many plants in large tubs so that they can bring them inside in the winter. People have all kinds of passions.....

I've had some trees of the white variety of Plumeria in my backyard since long ago! They are really easy to grow here in the Brazilian southwest. Our weather is quite similar to what you have over there! The common name in Portuguese is Jasmim Manga, which translates to the Mango Jasmin! I have always been curious about its flower's parts. Just as you have mentioned, I have never figured where the anthers and stigma are! Those are really hidden, and not many bugs have the "knowledge" or the "map of the road" to find them!!! Fortunately they are easy to propagate from cuttings! Even without the use of rooting hormones. Thank you for sharing!

I do like the name of Mango Jasmine much better! Yeah - these plants are ridiculously easy to propagate - I have not lost one yet.
For pollination, the parts are buried deep within the flower - I have tried a few different ways to pollinate them but have not yet succeeded. I do work on the campus of a botanical garden, where there is a large collection of them. I proposed to them that I could figure out how to make crosses and grow them out in the facilities there but they were not interested in making new varieties.... Happy to share and thanks again for watching.

@@plantpropagator I can't believe they passed! How could they? They are never gonna get a chance like that again!

@@Naturamorpho Some people think that they always know best. Administrators, regardless or how they arrived at their positions, are often very confident in their decision making abilities. I have plenty of work to do as it is - it's OK.....

Growing from seed is more than I have done - I tried pollinating a couple of flowers but was not able to do that - parts are buried pretty deep in the flower. Congrats on growing them from seed!
