About the AoS zombies ranking up... yeah, they do... so do most (if not all) of the newer AoS kits... even the Chaos Warriors and Chaos Knights from the Start Collectiong box.... I've suspected for quite some time that GW would do something like that... I mean, for a long time they used Warhammer minis for AoS and just repackaged them... now they're doing it in reverse and come out with minis that are supposedly for AoS but can easily be rebranded and repackaged and be used for the upcoming Old World game. I'd bet that's why they rank up so well.
I completely forgot to show this and will have to in the video when they're painted but the zombies are also TINY by GW standards.... they're quite literally half the height of the vampire and even smaller than the old skeletons. They're definitely still an outlier.
@@habsburgerdonkey5342 lots of people were also quite surprised when the new Chaos Knights were smaller than previous ones. Those plastic dudes with these massive horses and spikes everywhere... the new ones are maybe 3/4 of their size. And therefore the new models are relatively close to the size of the old Knigths from 6th/7th edition. I say those are all signs that GW is planning to bring us Middlehammer goodness with The Old World.
I joined the oldhammer 4th edition army painting challenge, mainly because I am old, it is great to see people doing army challenges and the different approaches they take. Best of luck to you.
I bought those same Vampires last year for the exact same reason, but I did not know how large they were. Funny that despite not being picky about scale, I am going to use the one you decided to not use. I might just drybrush the others gray and use them as statues. Speaking of vampires, does anyone know how the Sobright gravelords vampire scale compared to the underworlds ones and the old WHF vampires?
Hordes of Chaos are a good one although I always wished there was a good way to play "all of Chaos" :D kinda like how it was in 4th/5th except that one didn't have marauders.
@@habsburgerdonkey5342 Yes, same as that! It's all very organised now, with each Chaos faction having it's own separate book in AoS, not very chaotic 🙂
My friends and I did something similar about three years ago. I also did VC, as that is the army I started with in the mid-90s (and using mostly models from that period as a scored an amazing deal on ebay for pretty much a full, unpainted '90s Undead army for £60). Will say that for most armies, and most people, 500pts/pcm is a big ask. We did 250pts and I still didn't finish on time.
Woohoo! Great to see! Could you possibly use the bat model to the front of your zombie unit when you needed a standard? (It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the mini...) Also from memory banshees were also nasty in 6th ed WHFB - being ethereal means they were really difficult to pin down. Hope real-life things settle down a little for you soon!

yes... at some point ^^; Everything is still a bit crazy but I definitely intend on getting back to that once everything has settled a bit again. It's been nuts...
