I’ve got a sib, and i use it to go fishing. I just would not have the guts to go 13 miles offshore in an inflatable. You are an absolute inspiration mate, just subscribed and have to endorse the other comments, best video I’ve watched in a long time, I’m gonna settle down and watch some more now, but I doubt I could be more blown away. Thank you for making my evening. Brilliant.
I used to regularly go out 13 miles and more in a 14' dory, never had any worries, Pladda Island, Arran, Scar rocks. So long as you have the right experience, gear and checked the weather no reason not to.
Wow, possibly the best fishing video I have ever watched, and the dolphins at the end, simply stunning. Very well done. Stay safe and tight lines. Mike.
I have a couple of SIBs and they are fantastic. As long as you play it safe. With your radio coms, and walkie talkies. Safety first and the rest is all fun stuff. Tight lines.
Brilliant video and an even better day out on the water, your passion and enthusiasm could be felt coming out of the screen. What a days fishing thanks for sharing
Fantastic day out, fished the lighthouse years ago, great vid. Fishing the crazy eel depends on depth of water & species, usually a sink & draw in deeper water or for shallower ground keep it moving with jerks/twitches, but you gotta keep it moving for the paddle tail to work & fish to be interested.
You deserve more subscribers. Your enthusiasm is infectious and this particular video was a highlight with the average size of bass around! Keep up the good work.
couldn't agree anymore. this young man warrants far more subs, showing how it should be done. great advice on retrieving fish from depth. slow and steady always wins the race for me.
Watching this was like a movie set minus the setup part! That dolphin take at the end looked incredible and the luck of catching the fish you did was amazing! I would not even class myself as a fishing expert however I learned a lot of stuff from this video and you have earned yourself another subscriber.
Very well put together Oban and good fishing as always . You are truly blessed where you live. Some of the sights and experiences you have are incredible. Love the dolphins, so beautiful. I think how I work the lure varies on location and depth of fish. For instance last weekend I was fishing over rough ground approximately 40ft deep. The bass there are usually on the bottom and always full of crab. I caught them drifting just bouncing the lure along the bottom with slow movements of the rod top. Keep it up 👍
Great video as always mate! Definitely use that for some big Bass off the kayak, got to be a sink and crank with a few jigs in between!! Makes me want to get out more!!!
Oban, just when it looks like you’ve done the ultimate video, you pull another out of the bag! This was an outstanding watch! Just love the excitement and passion you exude, it’s just like being on the boat with you! I think you unpack the boat up each time you go out. Could you possible have the camera rolling one day? I’m sure many of us would like to see how you do that and the time involved. Tight lines……
I have an excel vanguard 3.95 with aluminium deck. I have a suzuki 20hp 4 stroke which I can just about handle on my own from the back of my van onto the transom. I think I've got it down to a fine art in that it takes me 1 hour from folded in my van to out on the water. About the same to put it all away.
Excellent vid mate. That's a lovely boat set up, I have 3.3 boatworld sib and using vintage Jon 9.9, can only get to 15mph,.would like a nice 15hp,. maybe sometime. Admire your fishing for sport and always release them back.👍
We were out the Eddystone Friday 11 th Feb 2022 ? We saw a SIB like yours and were going to say hello but you set off by the time we got to your last position, the wind was picking up! Great video! Watched it several times.
Great fishing buddy sorry about the one you lost. There is an art in netting fish, as I am a salmon angler as well. Always net your fish head first, you never see a fish swimming backwards. But a great video. When fishing my lure I tend to fish shallow. And some times let the lure clear the water, I have often seen fish follow the lure out of the water, It's fantastic to see.
Best bass video of the whole year on TH-cam. Brilliant from start to finish. Huge bass feeding frenzy made my hair on the back of my neck stand up! What a sight...what great catches too. If I had one of those lures I would work it on a quick retrieve across the current in my estuary working the paddle tail and hopefully firing up the bass. My maximum depth is only 8 foot on my marks so I need to keep the lure moving on a straight retrieve to avoid snags. Great lure....would love to try one. Thanks again for an awesome video. 👍🐟👍🐟👍🐟
Your best video yet Oban! Incredible footage of those big Bass in a feeding frenzy! what a dream! If I won the fiiish crazy paddle tails I'd use them for Bass on the rough broken ground just off the North Essex coast .We don't get a lot of that around here so If I located some bigger Bass I'd let it sink and then retrieve it up against the tide, working them at different depths on the way up. Then hopefully get that hard aggressive take!!
Great video...wow that was exciting to watch...I would be targeting cod (but anything welcome) find rough ground or a shelf drop it to the bottom the jig and wind up until i find the fish.....tight lines bud
Just watched, and I have to say, what a fantastic video, full of expectation and then rewarded with fish after fish. We've all been there losing a fish when it wasn't ready to land......we live and learn, but takes a long time to get over the loss. Love your enthusiasm and that's what made your video such a good watch. I have just subscribed.
I have to make do with periodical getting my fishing gear out in my living room because I live so fare from the sea I don't have many opportunities to get out there however those would look fantastic and when I get the chance l will use the drop and wind method 😬👍
Awesome bit of fishing there Oban, well worth the steam out. Fiish Black Minnow one of my favourite lures. Sink and retrieve at a slow pace with random rod tip twitches seems to work best for me. Take care out there!
Absolutely Brilliant, not only have you convinced me to purchase a Sib, but I am definitely going to include sea fishing in my daily semi retired day's. Seeing the dolphins on the return home has given me more incentive to get on the salt. One question when those beautiful creatures were having a good time, were you not worried about them hitting the prop? Keep the vids going Young Man. Your an inspiration to even us old Codges.
Great vid mate , really enjoyed it. Was like that up at Portland too. Just crazy. Work them lures , down deep , twitch them back , few turns , twitch them and repeat !
Fished with hook in the weedless mode and cast out across the flow. Wait until it touches bottom and then feel it bounce along. Very very slow retreive then bang - bass on!! Like your presentation style - proper fishing vids with no silliness. Will defo subscribe!
Another Fantastic video buddy , what a session, definitely a red letter day hitting s feeding shoal of that stamp ! I'm dying to give the crazy eel paddle tail ago , would work fantastic on our marks on the boat , drifting over the sandbanks working it on a straight retrieve, when all the sandeel show up in the bay 👍
Nice little video young man I work on a charter boat out of Falmouth must say the bassing this summer has been outstanding.... Well done some cracking fish there 👏👏
New sub here. New to SIB fishing, making the progression from Kayaks. What an awesome day out that was. Dolphins were amazing. Hope your channel continues to grow mate. 👍🏻👊🏻
Ideal for kayak fishing drop over the side and I'd jerk them up and down, also good for cast and retrieve with a few pauses great video and some awesome fish 👍🎣
I got a sib after seeing your vids . Did one trip in Prestatyn the next one was up in Plymouth hoping to go out a bit but had problems with engine. Wasn't doun to me it was a new tahatsu 15hp but at least I got about 2 miles out the first day . I am looking forward to going the eddystone and try it my self brill kids m8
You’re a very impressive lad with lots of great knowledge, but fishing off an inflatable - out as far as the Eddystone!?! Obviously you have huge confidence in the boat, but don’t you worry about a hook snagging it and deflation? Very enjoyable video 👍🏼
Great video mate. im new to SIB and sea fishing. i bought a new Parsun 20hp and a boatworld 3.6 fisher pro. not been in the water yet im still setting things up got wheels to fit and some kit to get. i have seen some of your vids but im going to watch them all as i know i will learn lots from your content. thanks
Cracking video mate 👍 If I won the Lures I would be fishing off my Kayak, dropping them onto my local sand banks keeping them very close to the bottom and soft jigging and drawing for the most beautiful Turbot. With baited breath 😁😁
That was fantastic. The best video I've seen on sib fishing I was smiling from ear to ear, though out it must be magical boating with the dolphins. It also fairly play on the giveaway it's a sub from me
Epic 👍🤙 great video sorry about the biggy! I lost my biggest bass in France a few years back. The bass were smashing the sardines into the rocks all around me I was in such a fluster I missed my first cast! (Fly). Smashed into it my fly 1st cast like a train hooked it saw it expecting it to fly off however it came to the surface and did the biggest head shake throwing the fly 😱😖🤢
Nice video mate. End setting looks lush. I'd use in shallower water, acting like a jerkbait, random retrieve rate for anything that bites haha. Must be knackering hoying that outboard about, keep well and keep enjoying yourself out on the sib 👍
Amazing video Oban, well done! I had a similar experience off Fowey a few weeks back for about 15 crazy mins - bass, mackerel, cod and pollack but all just off the bottom on a slow jig in 40M of water. They were all chasing sprats/whitebait I think. The bass were all returned due to size.
Ever thought of using barbless hooks? Just flatten the barbs with snipe nosed pliers, reduces the damage and suffering to the fish and makes unhooking quick without jiggling the hook and tearing the mouth.
You should attach a tape measure to the side of your boat! It would make measuring the fish easier. If you use a code tape measure it will look good also, no cobbled together.
Have you tried using fish grips for bass instead of the landing net? With multiple treble lures there is always the danger of one of the loose hooks getting stuck in a net and ripping the lure out of the fish. You are probably low enough to the water to use them.
That's a great video, never went that far in my little boat but inspirational as to what you can do. I liked the commentary as well, explaining what you were doing and why. Just a thought try fishing without the barbs especially on the treble hooks and you'll catch more fish as its quicker to unhook and you don't get them caught in your net :)
i always fish them very slowly and if i get some taps i keep the same speed going and it usually results in a solid take, one important thing i have found is not to fish them against the current
I've just bought a Seago and a Suzuki 2.5 outboard to do Mackerel fishing in North Wales. Trying to kit it out now before I head out. Any recommendation on clothing? Also I've heard good things about the Folding RIB, F-RIB. Did you ever consider looking into fishing from that? It seems to me it would be much better in rough conditions and less prone to getting blown sideways in a strong wind.
Hi I've just found your channel which I've now subscribed to Great video, when you lost that fish I noticed something come to the surface as you were trying to get the lure untangled from the net, was that the reef that showed on the surface of was it a huge fish? I don't know if you'd noticed it if that had been a fish it would have been nice for you to catch it, anyhow thanks again for the video I'm looking forward to seeing you again.👍🎣🎣
Would you consider fishing on jetski some day? im wondering if I should save money for fishing jetski or if continue with inflatable fishing and buying better motor? Also about VHF radio, I don't think it's very effective, most of VHF radios can only take signals up to 2 miles. Personal GPS beacon would be a better choice.
Would never go to sea without a handled vhf. I can transmit 4 miles no problem and receive from further. If I was to go to the lengths of trailering a boat it would not be a jetski, 5m RIB would be much more practical and suited to fishing
Question, do you have any spear, gun or any weapon against sharks ? especially when you go out in such long distances from land? also how much swell did this dinghy is able to take?

What a fantastic day. You certainly had a red letter day. Well done!! Really good video, well put together, had me enthralled throughout. Thank you
That's a really nice bit of feedback Andrew, thank you!

Haha well spotted Ben, but it's actually a rock 😉
How great was that, fish aplenty and dolphins too!!
Hi mate great video can you tell me where you got the cover for the outboard I’m struggling
Medium to face pace sink and draw with those lures in amongst a Bass feeding frenzy would be EPIC !!
Bloody loved that video absolutely brilliant. Well made, informative. Just subscribed.
Thanks
