I forgot to mention in the description: I tried to improve the quality a bit with beginner skills. Some sort of stabilization added, fps increased to 50fps.
@l̼̓ Thanks for the tip! I'll have to check out VideoProc. You have to bear in mind though that the original footage in this clip is interlaced 720x576 pixels (4:3 aspect ratio) which I have trimmed to 16:9, reducing the resolution to 720x405 pixels. Then I added some stabilizing, cropping and auto-scaling which reduced the resolution even further. What you see here is comparable to a native resolution of 600x340 at best so I'm not sure if artifacts are the biggest issue here.
When you’re there, you can feel your internal organs rattle. It’s mental. I worked in the pits in 2003/4/5/6. Standing beside one on cold start made me feel ill sometimes. Freakin’ awesome

P6 was Juan Pablo Montoya's starting position, but his Williams-BMW had engine problems on the warm-up lap and Montoya drove straight into the pits to change into the spare car and missed the actual start.
The fact that they can make a 2 liter engine that powerful is pretty impressive. What really kills it for me is how limited the engineers are. There is no room for innovation. Spending caps, strict rules, harsh penalties, over-dramatization. There is no art anymore. Most cars are 95% the same and the one car that is 1% better dominates until the rules change. Imagine how much more fun it would be if there were other engine configurations such as v8 or v12? Or even rotary or fully electric? It would be so much cooler and we could see actually new technologies instead of the entire industry waiting to copy teslas autonomous driving and koeniseggs advanced tech. I’m tired of the whiny vacuum cleaner when we could have so much more.
For 2001, the FPS is amazingly good. God those V10s sound amazing, thanks for this video.

home video was high FPS since the 80s, that's why people call 24fps "cinematic"
I miss the v10’s revving at 20,000rpms, I was lucky to hear them when I went to 2 races. I was deaf for 3 days both times.
I mean I wouldn’t even be mad if that was the last thing I heard!
This is how F1 should sound.
The sound difference between being on the TV and actually been there, is massive!
The sound diff betw 2001 and 2023 is insane.

2001 Malaysian GP...... the sudden thunderstorm GP....nice. The era where you really had to put in earplugs or your ears would have bled.....
best sound, best car
God I miss those engines
nothing like those screaming v10s
They say the V10s from that era had souls. You could hear them howl and wail, almost in agony. Miss those sounds.
I wanted to start my PS4, but I didn't want my mom to hear it, so my first thought was F1 V10 VERY LOUD and it worked lol 😂
I guess all my videos can help you with that. 😄
Wow fantastic footage!
Glorious sounds 💯
Gem of a video. I wish I was there
These gives me goosebumps
I wish this would still be on...
Without V10 there is no Formula 1
V10 rules
With noise like that, we are reminded how much better F1 was with howling V10's
Still the best sound in motorsport.
Pure bliss
Dang those mclarens really stand out
I was born at the wrong time
I still find it funny I know which one is Villeneuve based on who lit up the rear tires… JV loved doing that lol
Now that's what I'm talking about!!!¡
Antes os campeões faziam os carros. Agora, os carros fazem os campeões.

Sound heaven
