The 80's Crown Vic squad cars were mainly powered by 5.8 Litre 351 Windsors with Variable Venturi 2bbl carburetors where the civilian Crown Vics had the 5.0 with either 2bbl Throttle Body Fuel Injection or Multi Port Fuel Injection from 1986-1991 until the new body style came out with the 4.6 V8. Also, the Chevy "Impala SS" police cruiser did not have independent rear suspension but rather a solid "live axle" like the regular Impala SS or Caprice Classics of the same era in the mid '90s.

I had a 87 crown Vic. And the variable ventury was junk.....these cars were built in Canada. And they had way too much clean air crap on them which led to many problems...the body style came out in 1979 and lasted till about 1991 or so....then the body changed and got all female looking with rounded corners and soft lines...😊

    Re: Dodge Polara transmissions.
For the better part of three decades, the fine folks at MoPar had only two automatic transmissions: the TorqueFlite A904 and A727; the lighter-duty A904 was put behind the Slant Sixes and smaller V8s, whereas the A727 was put behind all V8s, including the 440 and the 426 Hemi.
Unless I'm missing something, the 440 Polaras ran 727s.
