I remember doing the bearings in 2014 on my old 1988 XJ900. That job certainly transformed.the handling and riding.
tis one was shocking to ride and it was only a small adjustment
What is wrong with the steering if it feels kinda stiff and wobbly when turning? Almost like if it had a flat tyre?
Head brace bearings ushally are too tight or failing

Good close up and the lighting to go with it. A lot of technical posts miss those key elements, with people giving a huge explanation but then using a dark shot of their back blocking the frame. Getting there!
you neve know one day i might be able to get someone to do the setup for me so i don't have to learn so much but i am getting better all the time
