- Hi guys! Here is my Black Phantom Tetra biotope, featuring beautiful Cabomba furcata and a handsome pair of Apistogramma borellii.
I talk about the display with my good friend George Farmer, discussing the fish, plants, setup and philosophy of the display, while also referencing some of my own experience in wild habitats.
I hope you enjoy it!

❤ the footage of the Taquari basin all the algae makes me feel better about one my tanks where all driftwood is covered in this type of algae
Opening footage is pure brain candy. Beautiful work as always you two
In also use the Neo flow like this a lot and when your book hits the shelves pay in three will no longer be needed for you tai 😂 i seriously can’t to wait to own a copy
Absolutely gorgeous display and inspirational as always! It has a beautiful glow.
The footage you often show of cabomba in the wild very much inspired one of my tanks with the sparse planting you explained in detail here (which of course I utilised the plants you sent me in)!
How much tint from tannins do you have in there or is the colour mostly from the foil background?
I just got to the part of the video where you talked about blackwater extract 🤣 ignore me
I was ready to ask about the red H. megalopterus when I saw the title. It was immediately talked about. Nice.
Love the setup. Good video too I like the images to give context. I've got some black phantoms in a 25 gallon now, they get along well with rummynose and green neons. For me they stay more out in the open while the neons stay more behind cover. ❤️✌️
Spot on. Very beautiful. Great choice of a biotope aquarium. Thanks for sharing
I once had them with H. rosaceus. Every time the Rosy tetras are spawning, the male Black phantoms sneak in to spawn with the females. The females responded well with the male's invitation to do the spawn "jiggle."
Simple and beautiful.
The Oase Scaperlines are really great. I have an Oase Scaperline100 with an Oase BioMaster Thermo 850 and am very happy with this setup.
Amazing tank, people and info in this video ❤
I saw the A. Borellii right away! Nice tank. You should take all the fish out and start feeding bbs. I bet you get a ton of little ones.
Cheers,
Chris
Beautiful mate!!
I have the very same aquarium :) I'm really intrigued you can grow stems -and red ones to boot- in a blackwater system.
You’re the first person I’ve seen mention the oase soils. Why do people not use them?! I’m starting a new tank with using it
Hi, love the tank and the reasons behind it. Can I ask what your ph is before the C02 and whether it lowers it. I’m using RO water on a black water tank for Curamatopsis Evelynae with a ph below 6. I’m worried if I add C02 it would lower it too much for the health of the fishes.
are those black phantoms wild caught ones?
super schönes aquarium aber die cabomba ist in deutschland verboten...😉👍👍👍
