Fran Labosco GOD I wish she was signed to Motown. She would have been even more successful and her records would all be under her own name. Back her up with the Funk Brothers and their house backing singers... the magic would’ve been irresistible. But I don’t think Darlene looks back at her career and think what might have been. She soared. She still does. And every Christmas, you best believe millions everywhere crank up ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’. They may not all know who she is or even her name, but they know that incredible voice. She is the very definition of a national treasure.
Nothing can stop Darlene = not even a "Backup Band" that thinks this is "their" show. Guess what guys = she can't be stopped. Put the vocals on top and check your egos. (I make this comment because of how she always sang lead and was relegeted to backup singer and never given the credit that was due her. )
Darlene usually does ‘’Da Doo Ron Ron’’ in her shows and people criticize her for the fact the actual Crystals released it; what is less known is she actually did record it, but Phil Spector shelved her version because she sounded too mature and womanly - he preferred La La Brooks’ more ‘teenage’ sound.
We are currently working with her booking agent to produce a sizzle reel of her acting including the Lethal Weapon movies where she portrayed Danny Glovers wife. She may have a shot at some more acting gigs. All in her 70s/
I love her and always will, but I think she gives it just a bit too much power, and she clips her words a bit, for instance on Da Doo Ron Ron.Like she's shouting. It kind of lessens the impact and nostalgia for me. All those years listening to every nuance on the records, where she'd get so much emotion into it without going over the top. I believe she needs Spector there getting her to do it just right. Say what you like about the bastard, and I have.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is now 79 ----2020 and still doing GREAT!!!! What a performer!!!!
