    That's really a work of art! The nailhead trim is something I hadn't considered. Just a comment; our existing wood-painted range hood is a pain to keep clean, all the grease/dirt sticks to the wood finish (of course these days it's painted with latex paint), which is why I might cover it in metal somehow. I'm wondering how long it took you to pound in all those little divits in the copper sheet! That's craftsmanship.

    That is impressive, especially for a first attempt. I'm planning to make something similar, but for over a (gas) fireplace. What sources did you use to learn the techniques and to buy the tools?

      just seen some videos on youtube how other people doing things like that, I knew what I want to build and how it should look like, so just bought copper,plywood and started to my experiments :)

    Thank you for this! I started looking at copper range hoods and they were in the $3k-$8k range. My husband said 'no way' until we saw this. We have a 36" range top - he's a little worried about the extra width on the base and how that's going to work with cabinets, but we'll figure it out!

    Did you use anything to act as an adhesive for the copper sheets to connect to the plywood? And what did you use for nails on edging?
    It looks great

      no, no adhesive between coper and wood. nails - was some kind of metal rivets from local store

    Really enjoyed this. What was the thickness on the copper. Where do you buy the copper and rivets. That was a lot of hammering.

      @HandCraftChannel You were asked 3 times what gauge copper sheet you used and you gave 3 different answers.

    Do you need to paint the wood to protect it from steam?

      @HandCraftChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks! that's coper, and it's pretty thick - about 0.8mm, I would recommend to use thinner, as it was very hard to hammer it
