  • I love trying out new brush on glazes! I found the Vitraglaze brand on Hotclay.com and decided to try a couple out. Now I didn't just go for a simple glaze though, I went for their layered glaze effects that you buy as a pack of two glazes 😁
A short video showing my tests of these new glazes. I did a test tile for each individual glaze (Island turquoise, reactive white and rusty mottle) with 1 coat over the whole tile, 2 coats over 2/3 of the tile and 3 coats on the bottom 1/3 of the tile. I then did a tile for each of the layered effect putting 2 coats of the coloured glaze under 2 coats of the reactive white for each. This is how I did the tests and how they came out.

These were bought from Hotclay.co.uk as a pair and the over glaze was their reactive white which worked well over their base glazes. I've yet to try it over other glazes but I will 😁. Other glazes I've found layer well are amaco oatmeal, smokey merlot, artic blue and palladium, Mayco blue hydrangea and most celedon glazes to name a few... Hope that helps 🙂
