    Great kiln load! Thank you for sharing 😊. You are the Queen of pumpkins 🎃 Please share what you are using on those gorgeous pumpkins that have the matte finish. And that frozen pond mushroom 🤩

    • @bynonstudiosart
      @bynonstudiosart  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      On the pumpkins, I am using underglazes. As they are not intended for food use, I did not put a clear glaze on top of them because I wanted the matte finish. I'm using flame orange as the base, and then I mixed flame orange with red brown to get the darker orange. The frozen pond is: obsidian (x2), running hot chowder (x2 glazed on like polkadots), and iron luster (x2 over the entire top of the cap). I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Oh my gosh your pottery is just fabulous!! I love all of the different things you create. The pumpkin houses are just amazing!! Please share your glaze combos with us. I’m sure we all want to know what you used. My gosh what a beautiful kiln load. I have a big mushroom top that I need to fire and I’m not sure how to do it because I’m afraid the exact same thing is going to happen to mine. Mine is made from a slab but it has an uneven bottom and I’m afraid with all of that uneven pressure on it is going to crack it. I haven’t even bisqued it because it’s so big I just haven’t had room. I’m thinking of just recycling the clay.

      On the pumpkins, I am using underglazes. As they are not intended for food use, I did not put a clear glaze on top of them because I wanted the matte finish. I'm using flame orange as the base, and then I mixed flame orange with red brown to get the darker orange. The leaves are deep olive speckle, the wood is iron celadon (I think that is what it is called), and the red are scarlet (from Amaco's Celebration line). I do put a line glaze on the inside. I'm using ice celadon because I want the oils from the incense to be visible.
      As to the mushroom, I'm going to keep making them. I will figure it out... my front yard might become full of the happy accidents. I believe this one's issue was my lack of knowledge in regards to coil building. The next one, I'm going to do a combination of slab and coils. I watched another potter create a large bowl with this method. Wish me luck.

      @@bynonstudiosart Thank you so much. I appreciate your follow up. My mushroom top was supposed to be a bowl but when I put it over the form i mistakenly had put the texture on the outside so I made it into a mushroom top. Then I realized I have to fire it. Lol

      @@bynonstudiosart I loved the orange underglaze on the pumpkins, what color did you shade with ? Also the mushrooms at the end… the bluish brown glaze ! Thank you so much !

    • @bynonstudiosart
      @bynonstudiosart  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The shade for the pumpkins was one part red brown and 2 parts flame orange underglaze. I needed an orange that wasn't so bright, and that was the solution I came up with. As to the bluish mushroom caps, that's Mayco's Cenote.
