I have an air2. The great advantage is having one less hose to think about. The great disadvantage? Try giving out your normal 2nd stage to a panicked buddy in need. Going to change to a normal octo soon.

I have a SS1 and I like the one less hose to transport around.

I personally really can't see that the weight saving argument holds water (sorry); it's likely less than the accuracy of the average airport check-in scales. It's a clever design but if I'm in a stressed situation and have to transfer to an alternate I want it to be at least as high a spec as my primary. Neither would I want to need to coordinate breathing with venting air while dealing with a potentially stressed or panicked buddy.

My wife has one, while I use a hollis 500se long hose/ necklace setup. We practice our out of air situations every few dives just because... practice good... anyways, as with any gear, its only going to be as good as the person trained and practiced with it. Her venting air while we ascend to a safety stop from say 80ft is seemless. She is also more likely to donate air to me than vice since she sips on air, while I normally come up from an 50-60 minute dive with 600-800psi depending, she will have 1400-2000psi.. ploping the SS1 into her mouth than quickly reaching over and undoing the velcro on her BC to allow the hose a bit more movement room, she is just as effective as I am with swapping to my necklace. It also breaths just fine. More than a few of the divers in our area use the SS1 and they all love it. (Tropic diver so can't vouch for it being great in cold water, but in our area its a great way to ditch a hose.)

@@MechInfantryGaming i don't like this product, i agree with tim, but if you and your wife dive and exercise together thats acceptable to me 100%. I don’t think somebody should buy this if that person is diving with a lot of different people who aren’t familiar with a setup that isn’t common

@@scubacro5758 You shouldn't get one if you're not diving with a lot of different people either.
A full featured Atomic Aquatics M1 regulator is cheaper than this Frankenflator, is higher quality and breathes better. This is a colossal waste of money and will give you nothing but headaches when you come across an actually emergency situation.

Thank you for the video. Do you know if there is a flex hose for the SS1? I'd like a more flexible hose than the one that comes with the SS1. Thank you!

With these devices, can you still orally inflate your BCD? They personally don’t appeal to me but I can see the appeal for some people.

For the love of god, don't buy these things.
not saying Atomic Aquatics SS1 is of poor quality. It's the concept of the product that's deeply flawed. Get a normal octo. It's cheaper. It works better. I doesn't confuse your out of air buddy.
If you want to do primary donate, change the hoses so your setup becomes a long hose primary.
