21700 batteries have more capacity and higher discharge rate. In this particular setup, the 4 18650 will have a bit more capacity than 3 21700, but the higher discharge of the 21700 will provide more Amps to the 6 emitters
for most, capacity will trump discharge rate which only shows up on bench tests, especially if you're ever going to use the power bank feature. switching to 21700 just for tests is financially silly
@@linh811 For single cell lights, the 21700 is usually best... Samsung 30Q 18650 max draw is 15 amps. For the Molicel P45B (aka Epoch (P45B)), the max draw is 45 amps. Between these 2 cells in these multi-cell lights, you're talking 12,000 mah total for the 18650 light, and 13,500 mah total for the 21700 version - so slightly more with the 21700.
I won't usually sit through an (almost) half hour video, but I did here. I like your pace and I like that your English is pretty much perfect, so very easy to understand and follow. I was really just after a flood and throw comparison of the Pro and the Plus and you're right - there doesn't seem to be an almost 50% increase (16,000lm c.f. 11,000lm). Your Plus seemed a little more 5,000k and the Pro 6,500, and the Plus lit up the neighbour's house white wall a *bit* better, but again, not almost 50% better (to my eyes I mean ... I'm talking perception only, not metering). BTW 3 x Sofirn 21700s will give you about 15Ah c.f. the Pro's 4 x 18650 at about 12Ah, a 25% increase, but again I agree with you ... we all have 18650s all over the place already. Thanks. A very enjoyable half hour.
21700 has more amps so the plus should be able to sustain charge alot longer if at the same lumen lower settings
Have the Sofirn Pro 16000 lumens and with the right MOLICEL P45B batteries you can get 20,000 lumen.
How do I get it into turbo mode from ramping up to highest setting? Is there a next step to get it into turbo?
@@VladFredK "weak" as in, need to be charged. Makes sense since I did not charge the unit fully before using. I will give it a go when I get home. Cheers !
Have you tried the plus with high output batteries? Should be a huge difference
I hear the molicell is the strongest right now .... Are you familiar with TH-camr piercing the darkness.... His video on the astrolux version helps a lot
Check the Sofirn SP70 great flood & thrower in one.
is it stronger then Q8Plus? In my experience it's either thrower or flooder, the combo usually don't work well.
@@VladFredK After some testing I must retract my suggestion. The combo like you said isn't the best. Was messing around the other week & the flood does a fair flood a ok mount & it does throw far but you're better off owning a thrower & a flood. I was looking at the AceBeam X75. That thing is awesome.
The pro is 6.5 k versus 5.k for the plus. The 21700 cells will give you future proof use.
why ta hell is everyone hang up on the 21700 cells? It makes NO difference ...zero zero zero difference
it can be brightest for almost 20,000 lumen using 21700 molicel battery.
Yep, Molicel P45B to be exact. Also rewrapped as Epoch (P45B).
A good video about the amazing P45B: th-cam.com/video/pgns5UD2jw4/w-d-xo.html
That alone is a good reason to use 21700.
1. Block your all exposure settings
2. Set camera to Log-profile
That would be a proper review.
Nice thx
3x5Ah > 4x3Ah. Difference is big. Math is simple. Also, 21700 have better discharge and heat distribution. Plus VS pro is brighter and has much better tint and color accuracy.
you would be wrong, go back to class on Li-Ion batteries and come back to me with better knowledge, and what is VS pro?
@@VladFredK math is really simple, no better knowledge is required. I know only no name 18650 cells with "4Ah". Q8 Plus VS Q8 pro - are compared here. Q8 Plus has better cells, better tint (cri) , higher power (up to 20000lm on Samsung or Molicel - good cells must be used). At the moment Pro does not have sense. Is simply much worse in practice.
🍻
More cycles out of the 21700s vs then18650s
@vladfredkovac4391 they dissipate heat better that's why they are larger. The high drain situation causes alot of heat in 18650s less heat means more cycles as well as less drain on a larger mah battery cell which also means more cycles.
@vladfredkovac4391 listed as same cycles life which I agree at small loads. Loads that's are higher discharge the 21700s will handle the cycling longer
Can’t believe no one on,one will show how to work the buttons and walk through it 🤦♂️👎
Look up an Anduril 2 tutorial. It's really a bit complicated for them to just cover in a review video, but if you familiarize yourself with the system you will be good for any light that uses it.
For anyone wondering, this video is good but like the guy said, it doesn’t do these torches any justice. I have all three and the Q8 pro is extremely bright and the Q8 plus is much brighter. I use them on farm land and they are incredibly bright. The BLF Q8 was an Thorfire torch until Sofirn brought them out . The torches build quality is very good compared to other big brands. I’d definitely recommend you buying these
So If I would only get one, naturally the Q8plus is the best choice?
