The countries who join BRICS today, will be able to reap the fruits of their labor for the first time in their history. Should the US talk to Putin about making Ukraine a special case? It would have to be recognised equally by both sides as a sort of buffer state.

As an european I think that If USA is not willing to defend Ukraine and Europe but rather encourage Russia in it's further claims, then we have no use of accepting USA as world hegemon. What is he talking about? NATO states already border Russia. Indeed, Putin didn't even seem upset when Finland joined NATO in March 2023. Putin's war is not defensive. He thinks he has the right to control Ukraine and other states like Georgia as part of "greater Russia," essentially denying their existence as autonomous countries.
