Sachin Tendulkar dismissed the dangerous & well set Brian Lara with that sharp seam delivery which made the stump fly up in the air.... Kapil Dev's delivery to Keith Arthurton was a genuine LBW ball. Anil Kumble should've been utilized his ability to flip the deliveries a bit more so that India would've won the world cup of 1996 quiet easily. In those days leg spinners were, very rarely talented. Aussies' Warne , India's Kumble Pakistan's Mushtaq Ahmed etc, were the notable ones. Height is a negativity factor for wrist spinners, but this man from Bangalore had tamed his length by bowling quickers. He could be an all-rounder like Kapil if he had developed some skills in batting. But he scarcely showed it. The century against England at Oval in 2006 was an exception.

India has won a lot recently but those wins in 90s r still unmatchable .. may be because India had a very weak team by then .. no quality pacer , just Azhar and Sachin in batting and just one gud spinner Kimble and still India manages to win 10 cups during that time .. love and miss that time
Kapil dev bowling most of the ball pitched straight to wicket and swing by distance between two stump. He used to bowl mostly straight to wicket with either inswing or outswing. That is why he was so effective even with medium speed. I think his bowling speed was between 125km/h to 130km/h and it reduced to 120km/h to 125km/h in last 2 year of his career. Other bowler who was bowling with similar speed but was very effective due to swing was chaminda vass. Shaun Pulock was just marginally little bit faster and his pitching style of ball was similar to kapil dev. 253 odi wicket in 225 match is very impressive record if you compare according to standard of 1980s and 1990s. India has good swing bolwing attack in 1980s with bowler like Roger binny, Madan Lal, Kapil dev and even part time bowler Mohinder Amarnath was a good swing bowler. Playing together they were effective even with medium fast bowling. Later only Chetan Sharma and Prabhakar was similar kind of swing bowler in late 1980s to early 1990s. Srinath was fast bowler but in begining he was doing inswing bolwing only due to which he was pitching the ball mostly outside the off stamp. This is good when you get swing otherwise you also punished by batsman. Kapil and Roger Binny were wicket to wicket bowler with swing on both side so they were very effective even with medium fast speed. Prabhakar was street smart bowler with both in and outswing but not wicket to wicket bowler like kapil dev. India started loosing swing bowler after Kapil dev and Prabhakar. Srinath, Venktesh Prasad and Agarkar were good bowlers but not versatile swing bowler like Kapil and Prabhakar. Srinath inswing at good speed was his main weapon. Agarkar was very effective taking his first 50 wickets in just 25 matches but after this he lost his perfromance due to injury. Venktesh Prasad also was very less effective after loosing speed in bowling. Again the India golden era of swing bowling started with Zaheer, Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar and Rudra Pratap Singh and were very effective as group. Irfan Patan bowling style of pitching the bowl was not like kapil dev so as soon as his speed reduced he was not effective and he also lost his place. Another very impressive bowler from 1990s due to having very impressive economy rate was Gavin Larsen from New Zealand. His medium fast bowling looks very ordinary but was difficult to hit.
Cricket was at a different level back then. Just look at the atmosphere at the Eden Gardens... just mesmerizing ❤ No other stadium in india will ever match the stature of the iconic eden Gardens. I can still remember... My dad used to run a stationary shop near Tipu Sultan Mosque in Dharamtalla, which is about 1.5 km away from the stadium. On match days we could easily hear that wild roar coming from the stadium. Feeling nostalgic 😢
I was just 9 years at that time still i was in love watching cricket due to Tendulkar , Famous statement made in that day Richardson "Hero Cup is in my Hand" , Kapil dev "Hero Cup is in my Pocket".
This was a 1st day and night tournament final of Hero cup in 1993 at Eden Gardens. I was lucky to enjoy evrey ball of the match being at club house seat. What a devastating bowing of great Anil Kumble, Vinod Kambli's important contribution of 68 runs . Kapil devs allround performance of brilliantl catch dismissing Richi Richardson after being genuine LBW out denied by umpire at previous ball as well most brilliant bowling of talented Tendulkar dismissing dangerous Brian Lara uprooting off stamp with a sharp seam. The environment was that night with the moon a couple of days away from it fullness in the sky and over 1 lacs spectators devilish cacophony went sky high when Anil Kumble taken last wicket of Cartley Ambrose and India Won Hero Cup Final 1993 beating Mighty Caribbeans.
Idiots who say Kapil has played too long, this match was in 1993, he took 2 key wickets in the top order, scored 24 runs in 28 balls. He retired next year.
You clearly dont remember him struggling in his last three test series. Great cricketer but what people said where correct at the time. He was struggling in test like any cricketer after his peak

This was a major Indian victory after the 85 WCC ....this was almost equivalent to a world cup ....awesome ..
Truly, well said. It was a major cup after the 85 WCC.

great atmosphere, Great players and Terrific commentary.
I was 8 years old that time and I could say that I am fortunate that I witnessed the period of 90s.This match was the biggest achievement for Indian team as they got badly defeated in world cup 92 and in South africa tour. From this tournament Azharuddin started shinning as a captain and also he Azharuddin had started his record of winning on home pitches. After this tournaments, almost for next 7 years India won maximum tournaments on home pitches. What match it was.
This is the first series when I started watching Cricket, I was 12 years of old that time
Dear ,lt was also my first series watching cricket on bw tv , l was BA 2nd yr at that time
Roar of 1,00,000 was tradition here in Kolkata in 80's 90's till 2008.....now only 70,000 can't match that enthusiasm
It's still roaring bro kolkata Eden Garden always remains the same forever
@@rajivsworldentartainment7395 I don't know whether you have ever been there before 2008.I was there in 2002 against England and the atmosphere was just electric. In later period I have watched some IPL matches and couple of India matches but I could not match that old eden...it can be effect of age as in 2002 something spellbound happened before a 11 year old with 1,10,000 others.
Those were the days of completing our school homework while watching cricket :)))

The sweetness of those days came back in my mind watching this video.
A bunch of legends in one single match- thanks a lot for the upload! Was a treat going down memory lane.
This was Azhar's captaincy where he became Man of the series and won the cup also. Enough to prove that he was a great captain with great batsman.
And a match fixer.

Kambli was the highest scorer of this low scoring match with 68 runs but not a single boundry by him shown here. Surprising...
nope.. he hit 6 boundaries in the innings
@@shivasenm8575 Read properly.. he said not a single boundry shown here.
He was a great cricketer ,,but was a victim of cheap politics of bcci and sachin gang
Did he take all singles
This is called castiesm in India...
In 2007
We lacked third seamer which caused all issues in 1996 WC!!!
He didn't even develop the wrong one till 2000... Indian bowlers never liked to develop new things in the 90s..
Kambal make 68 runs but not even one shot in highlight.why?
Shrikant Muravane this fuxxng uploader of this video is cheap hater of kambli ,,i think ,,,, jatiywadi
Correct
Kambli*
Jai Maharashtra
Yes I exactly thought the same. Also, no shots of Azhar even though he scored 38. He showed so many shots of Kapil who scored only 24.
I was in std 4... witnessed the match in new BPL b/w tv in our tuition Sir's house...... only could recognize Kapil Paji....Sachin.....Raju and Kumble...Sidhu also....
Remember those fire crackers late in the evening when victory was close.....Hero cup made my generation to be devotees of cricket and followers of Sachin........ lucky to have seen Great Kapil Dev bouncing some of his last deliveries......
I was coming from delhi that night I was just 11 year old that time but I remember this match very well we reached home near 9.30 pm and india was heading towards the victory what a happy moments it was
India has won a lot recently but those wins in 90s r still unmatchable .. may be because India had a very weak team by then .. no quality pacer , just Azhar and Sachin in batting and just one gud spinner Kimble and still India manages to win 10 cups during that time .. love and miss that time
People use the crackers inside the stadium 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.... I think golden days for the 90's cricket fans.... Very nice match 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
This match played two days before diwaly..
I miss 90 s cricket. I love this time ❤️❤️🙏
Kapil dev bowling most of the ball pitched straight to wicket and swing by distance between two stump.
I'm totally agree with your thoughts
Oh, they were switching on green light to signal out. I was surprised for a moment.
Cricket was at a different level back then. Just look at the atmosphere at the Eden Gardens... just mesmerizing ❤
No other stadium in india will ever match the stature of the iconic eden Gardens.
BOWLED HIM. Most booming commentary ever heard. No more excitement in today's commentary.
Tears come, that divine watching has gone
Idiots who say Kapil has played too long, this match was in 1993, he took 2 key wickets in the top order, scored 24 runs in 28 balls. He retired next year.

Kapil is the old war horse. All round abilities with bowling as his strongest suit .
Kapil should have been there till 1996 WC!!!!
I was 12yrs old during this match. Good olden days
Those were d days when a six was higly appreciated and hitting a six as not at all easy as fields were much bigger and bowlers were highly competitive. Cricket had a special charm. Now it is a totally batsman's game. Bowlers r cruelly killed.
