To make the spring easier to install, bend the spring tab so it rests more flush with the door plate. I put the spring in a vice and hit it with a hammer.
Appreciate the insight. Excessively bending spring steel can cause it to break. I'm glad it worked out for you. Installing them without bending is not terribly bad, just tricky.
I put the spring in a vice, heat up the tab with a torch then bend it with channel locks. Works great and didn't have to take the door off. I did remove the front fenders though. Great video though! To bad I found it after I did mine lol.
Wonder if you had one spring set to open and the other set to close if the door would simply stay in the position you opened it in. I'm trying to get some manufacturers to make a friction rod to hold the door in the position you left it in.
That’s a good question. My thoughts would be that they would cancel each other out and behave as if there were no springs at all. The springs are not terribly strong to begin with. Maybe just using one spring per door would do the trick.
Subscribed. Recently purchased a 2017 SS. Lots of mods in the works including the SBD kit. First thing that bugged me was the door closing on your legs. Perfect timing with this video. Thanks. Planning a dual rear radiator relocate. Smaller ones on each side. Don't want the Hess or stock one in the middle of the window and don't want to give up the cargo box. Question. Did you replace the center console pieces? Mine are blue. Thinking of going with the Maier gray-ish fake CF. Easier on the eyes.
Thank for the sub! I installed the SBD kit (in another video) and it was worth the money. I got it for $150 off part of a Black Friday deal. I did not do the cams and I notice a huge difference nonetheless. I bought this car second hand and the plastic is how I got it but I believe that it is all stock.
Excellent. Thank you for the reply. I saw your other video on the SBD. Also well-done. We're still under a foot of snow and the parts for my mods are stacking up. Just waiting for the warm.

Absolutely doing this! The door constantly trying to close on my 16 is often frustrating.
Some 16-17 models came with the springs already but they were there to close the door instead. All you would have to do is reverse them. Good luck
I did that to my 2016. I called it the valet door.
Makes it much easier for everything
This would have definitely helped when I was installing the Ryco street legal kit. This might be my next mod. Thank you.
Totally worth it. Thanks for watching.
Nice idea I will do this, Thanks! Subbed
You’ll love it. Thanks for your support!
great video, tried this last year and gave up, couldn't remove the door skins cause every bolt was seized
That sucks, wonder why.
@restoroosterohv9030 couldt tell you, once I rounded out 3 screws I stopped,

@@jeffhampton8781 Get out and send it! Love to have some snow to slide around on.
Hi quick question where did you buy the parts for doors? Any website? Thank you.
They are OEM parts, and I purchased them through Rocky Mountain ATV.
Would only one spring on just the tops be enough? I like that idea and want to do it on my 2021xtr
The 2 springs are not terribly strong to begin with. One spring only may not be enough to hold it open but I didn’t try just one.
Very nice job !!! Appreciate the video
Thanks for the feedback and your support.
Any idea if works on all years?
Yes, 2016-2023
You could have just reversed the Springs from right door to left door
