  • I finally ditched my RTR Light Bar to install a TrailRax TRMR Modular Roof Rack with the side Pak Rax. But I kept the Project X Offroad Driving Lights: Series One FF.70 spots and floods.

    I customized my rack to make it work. Let me know if you think it was worth the effort.
    Let me know if you have questions or any suggestions regarding the video. I'd like to make the best videos for you, so don't be shy!
    Thanks for watching!

      Thanks! I like it. Still waiting to use the rack though. 😅

    Very nice. That is something to consider.

      Thank you. I still love the look of how the lights hung low on the RTR bar but I wanted a rack too and I’ve always wanted an ‘off-roader’ with big round lights since I was a kid. 😆

    If you had a roof rack, you'd be able to transport the boxes on the roof. 😆

    nice job. Hate your coating chipped but thanks for showing it. My trailrax and rakpax are heading my direction

      Still, after this much time has passed, it’s the best rack out there. I’ve seen some knock offs that are priced a bit lower but who knows about the longevity.
      Congrats on the new rack! 🍻

    You can take the pins out of the connectors and put them through the hole, then put them back in the connector. They make a tiny tool to do it.

      If I ever go back to revisit this, I’ll try it. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Do you have an update on the lights? I expect the solid copper wire connections to fail at some point.
    That being said by mounting the lights to the t-channel bar should be pretty secure. Looking forward to your next video.
    At least your miscellaneous drawers have compartments!

      The solid wire does fail intermittently. 😅
      There are so many things I have to go back and re-do. 🤦‍♂️

      I’ve had really good luck with the soldered heat shrink butt connectors. When you go back to redo it be sure to use those. Also might be a good video showing how to learn to disassemble the plugs. Good skill to have.

      @@swooshdave TH-cam doesn't notify me when I get replies to comments, so I missed this. I really like those butt connectors too! I'm never going back to what I used to do. Thanks for the suggestion.

      @@neverendingweekendI can’t remember how to set it up to get notifications. Then again my videos rarely get any comments so I sometimes don’t see them for a year. 😜 I think the easiest way in in the Studio view when you upload. I think there a Comment section.

    Since it is aluminum does TrailRax provide torque specs in the instructions?

    • @neverendingweekend
      @neverendingweekend  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t recall any torque specs. But I also don’t recall any issues with torquing. And I’m the OCD type to run into issues of there are any to be had. 🥹

    You can de-pin those connectors for your lights and run the wires thru the holes you cut and than put the connector back on.

      Heyyy,… 3 days too late 😢
      Definitely something I would’ve tried though. Way better solution.
      … but 2 I’d still have to cut because they were too short. At least I know for next time. Thx for the tip!

    Do you find it difficult to remove your tops or impossible with the roof rack? I love the look of roof racks but want to the ability to go convertible still

    • @neverendingweekend
      @neverendingweekend  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing is impossible 😅
      WithOUT the lights and with OUT the PakRax (side vertical racks), you’d additionally just need to remove the front 2 attachments of the rack to the top of the windscreen. Not too bad, but you’d have to remove everything in 1 piece. A bit cumbersome and you might damage the rear rack attachment areas. … actually, thinking through it, best would be to take off the rack, then the top. Definitely not a quick/easy process but doable.
      Unless you’re talking about just the panels above the driver. That’s still doable and very easy. Just never look behind you and you’ll think your whole top is off 😉

    Please tell me you didn’t use house wire to extend the wiring 😆

    • @neverendingweekend
      @neverendingweekend  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did! 😅
      I wasn’t sure where to get proper wiring, so I went to Home Depot and asked for 14guage threaded wiring. They gave me solid core by mistake. Should I swap it out?

    • @Thatgreenbronco
      @Thatgreenbronco ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@neverendingweekend solder doesn’t flow through a solid core wire and makes for a weak connection. I wouldn’t trust it and would definitely swap it out.

      @@Thatgreenbronco ahhh, makes sense! The 2 lights I needed to extend, both pulled apart. Thx for the tip.
