Oh my gosh, you're right. I never thought of this as a result of his not having a childhood. But he DID have to play with objects as a child because he was lonely, so it does make a lot of sense. It's great writing on the writers' parts-- what could have just been a simple quirk actually has several layers to it.
Personally, I know it’s supposed to just be a joke, but I know a lot of people that talk to themselves in order to process information. It’s kind of interesting that Bob talks out his thoughts and feelings with random objects and then comes to specific decisions as a result. Like, the scene where the turkey is “scared” of the dark was Bob’s reminder to keep the oven light on so he can watch it cook. Or how when he was painting the Keanu Reeves figurine, and the figurine was “suggesting” different shirts for Bob to paint, that was Bob going through different ideas of what kind of shirt he should paint (and he probably thought about the tuxedo shirt before realizing it’d be lame). Also, the scene where the pickle is “offering” to help him kill Jimmy Pesto probably wasn’t literal, it was just Bob expressing his frustration at Jimmy and joking about killing him. After all, he mostly laughs it off and then comes up with a different solution immediately, so I don’t think Bob would be interested in actually killing somebody. Also, Bob’s thoughts and the objects he “talks” through get more blurry when he’s under the influence and he’s thinking of riskier ideas.
It’s more because of the “Bob fires the kids” episode where we find out that he didn’t have a childhood and worked in the restaurant so much that he made toys out of cookware and soap to keep from being lonely.
Talking out loud is how I often get out of a funk in my thought process. I end up having conversations with myself and that ends up helping me figure out something different when I'm stuck.
It's a way of having an internal dialogue, so to speak, and not necessarily a unique one. I'm reminded of the meme with programmers and developers who have a rubber duck on their desk who they 'explain' their processes to, as a means of making themselves think things through and figure out mistakes.

I like talking to myself or with objects something really freeing about saying whatever you want without fear of being judged and you get to chose what happens

Bob is a very lonely person and he feels like his family doesn't understands him, that's why he talks to things( himself). The sadness of feeling alone when your not really alone.
I love that this is just a thing he’s done since he was a kid. In the Father Of the Bob episode, you can see him taking to his “baby you can chive my car” burger.
You can understand where this comes from. He had a hard life growing up with losing his mother at a young age, not having most simple things as a kid, and having a strained relationship with his dad
The funny thing is how he makes characters that disagree with him and are often more logical than he is.
