I watched all the towards the end of this video. I just wanted to say that while I haven't been keeping up with the most recent streams I HAVE greatly enjoyed the Gladiator streams for the most part. With all that said however, Andaron Saga has stolen the show for me this year, well-written & loveable characters, beautiful CGs & official artwork, & SOME fun map designs [though i do think this is the biggest issue i have with the game currently]. I've no regrets making it my last video for 2024. This game is what got me out of my phase of doing nothing but shitposts & reuploads on my channel & I am ever so grateful for it. Thank you, Mangs looking forward to that Corrinquest stream as that was one of the 1st & only LPs of yours that i've finished. Here's to another great year!
I don't think Engage releasing late (2023) on Switch hurts its sales, the Switch sold a lot of videogames this year. IS just didn't care about Engage (not a lot of advertising, they just released the game like that, contrary to games like Pikmin 4 or Super Mario Wonder which both got a lot of advertising); the story and graphism turned off a lot of players, especially when you have this many RPGs in Switch, looking better and having better stories.
Agreed. I honestly believe that if you have a fantastic trailer that sells, people will by your shitty game which is something Fates did in spades (I'm still a Conquest defender...but the other two are terrible. There's no defending that.) Engages marketing is some of the worst I have ever seen. It's like they were embarrassed to show any parts of that game (I would be embarrassed too), and obviously having a shitty clown like design for your lead when most (I think) prefer a more traditional FE look probably had a lot to do with the sales numbers as well, but that's my two sense on it because Engage only made HALF of what three houses did... Expect a sequel to that game soon. I wouldn't be surprised anymore to be honest.
It might be too early to say Engage has sold far worse than the other fire emblem games as we haven't gotten a sales update in a long time, though there's rumors that the sales did indeed crater after launch. If it does end up selling badly, I hope intelligent systems and nintendo are humble enough to understand why people did not like it. The other potential issue is like Mangs said, remakes don't sell as well as new games usually. So if the FE4 remake is real, but then it sells poorly too, it would definitely damage the series further.
@@dinar8749 That's fair. The last time I kept up with it, Engage had 1.6 million copies sold compared to 3H 3.5 million. Though, I don't know if that factors into digital sales, if it doesn't t, that's a completely different story. I know that some companies hide their numbers, especially if they didn't do well (like the advanced wars remake for example), so there's a lot to consider. Either way, I felt that IS was banking on Engage to sell just as well if not more than 3H since they were targeting a newer audiences this time around. It backfired....hard...
They have to have had pretty low expectations for engage outside of Japan. It leans really heavily on nostalgia for games that most of their current audience have never played. It's like having a nostalgia based final fantasy that leans heavy on 2, 3 and 5.
The graphics are the actual peak in the entire series and the gameplay was fantastic. The story was a classic fire emblem story with strong characters and a well developed and executed power system. Yeah it should have been advertised more but other than not going super in depth on its characters and world history its superior to 3h in every way.
Favourite memories on this channel this year has to be the various meme review segments of the streams and seeing the viewers come together and contribute their own jokes
Engage was a good game. Only the story was shit - but heck, nearly all FE stories are shit anyways. So yes, it was a great year for Fire Emblem - we got a main title. You can't have more than that
personally, my favorite memory was the day Andaron Saga released and watching you livestream and explain the secret objectives and little easter eggs like the antitoxin. And when i finally got to get comfy on my couch and dive into it, it was better than i ever imagined. I don’t even remember the last time i was that addicted to a FE game. playing on maddening my first playthrough and dying 5+ times on some chapters has never felt so good

Engage was a good game, though, so not really a bad year? It was fine, to be perfectly honest. edit: To add clarity to this, I think the only reason people downplay and undermine Engage so much is because the FE that came before was basically FE: Persona, ands there's a massive audience for that type of game- as a result of 3H's release, despite it being one of the weakest in the series (IMO), a lot of new people were introduced to the franchise expecting the next game and every other game to be Persona-likes. Then, they weren't, and that upset people. People really should realize that 3H was the exception to the FE formula rather than the rule- and again, IMO, the game suffers for being a Persona-like because the gameplay in 3H was some of the worst in the genre. Engage, on the other hand, was a return to form- a return to a simpler time where gameplay came first. And it shows, because Engage has some of the strongest gameplay in the series. Very good map design, too. Is the story simple? Yes. It's a simple and more classical tale of good vs evil, black vs white- you have clear-cut good guys and bad guys. Does Engage have good characters? I think there are some, for sure. People would also do well to remember that 3H, despite having so many characters and SO much dialogue, doesn't have the most interesting characters either- most of them are tropes with a tragic backstory attached, and they cling to their tropes incessantly. Why make constant comparisons to 3H? Because it's the comparison that literally everyone and their mother makes, all the time, 24/7- I see it in Mangs' streams all the time, whether he's part of the discussion or it's just chat hamhawing about it. Just an observation of mine. IMO, Fire Emblem is at it's best when gameplay takes point- to me, that puts Engage much higher on the good game list than 3H. tl;dr It wasn't a bad year for Fire Emblem. Engage was a good game, and put gameplay first as FE games should. It also had good map design, and an absolutely banger OST that didn't ever miss. Those are my takeaways. Flame me as you will. I don't give a fuck. Engage was miles and miles above 3H in my eyes- 3H was a fucking mess.

Couldn't agree more, three houses is probably the game in the series that differs the most from the rest and brought in a ton of new fans who were then expecting engage to follow the same format and were disappointed when it didn't. Everyone is entitled to like whatever they like and dislike whatever they don't like, but it is irksome to see people say engage is a bad fire emblem game when its just a return to form.
Meh not really id say its painfully average this years fire emblem. 2023 was by far the worst year of my life, the year started with a lot of School s. here, wich is very attypical, many children lost their lives because of it, it stopped by august, but the damage was already done And here on the city I live, many schools were closed, as if we didn't had few enough, so many people who graduate have to move to another city or pay for public transport to get there, or wait ton of gas, long live the governament :D This was also the year that I quitted TH-cam Brazil for good, the ammount of people there who are so egocentristic and entiltled, that it pretty much became Twitter 2.0, they are capable of saying horroble things and most people still support them, reason there is pretty much gone, I still will watch *some* channels there, like Brasão de Armas for educational content, or Souzones and CIA for fun, but that is as far as I go, sadly, it really hurts my heart to leave my nation behind This year was also the year my father became more and more agressive towards my family, he didn't do anything, and he's not capable of anything rough(thank god) but he became so mean that he's just a shell of his former self One of the reasons we moved away from home was because of my father's side of the family, they were literally the worst people we could ever know, and mother's wasn't any better, they were the typical christians that only were that to have a better appearance to others, but having a totally diferent life within the four walls(Or just with they didn't liked, and no, they didn't liked us), so it really hurts me to see my father becoming exactly that It was also a desastreous year for me as a Game Developer, I cancelled many projects, dropped from others, sometimes because my father was THAT abnoxius, others because my mind wasn't very good. It really sucks to have nothing to speak about in 2023 But for all the negativity I had this year, I also had many things that I glad God gave me, my Dungeon Master Kerdied/Ruler is the best person I could've asked for, he's such a good friend of mine, he's always there for me, whenever I need to open myself, he feels like a father figure for me, he's also a person that trully enjoys what I do, and whenever I running short on ideias, he's there to give me that push when I need it This year was also the year that finally made me play Fire Emblem, I still have to get used to it as a Advance Wars player, but I want to primarily thank Andaron Saga for it, it has shown me a way to appreciate the franshise in a special way And hey, if its worth telling, I started an RPG campaign based off Advance Wars, so the start of the next year will be fire to compensate Lastly, I want to Thank You Mangs, for being such a good person and a honest youtuber, you help me go through this, you made me laugh, you made me die of cringe, but at the end of the day, these are all moments, and these will be moments I will gladly remember the day I die, you made my life better Mangs, you really did Happy new year everyone, May this year be blessed
Engage delivered on being a good strategy game and thats what matters most. The story did fail to deliver, but this isnt the first time a game in the series has had good gameplay and a bad story (fates, new mystery). According to sales figures it was at 1.6 million sales figures as of march so its safe to assume it has passed 2 million in sales by the end of the year. Considering the game had less mainstream appeal than 3Houses and didnt have any promotion in smash bros id say the game was a success and not a flop. The only way it can be considered a failure is if youre a content creator who relies on the series popularity to make videos
It definitely did not pass 2 million. There was an update that it only sold a little less than 100,000 since it's initial 1.6 million. It tanked hard after that initial period.

I am going to be honest. In terms of Fire Emblem this year and content in an official sense,it has not been the best year for Fire Emblem. Not terrible as the Dark Ages but it did fall off. I personally did not bother to buy it cause Monica Rial is voicing Anna and I have done the same with Soul Hackers 2 with Daman Mills as Lady Ginko. Plus added with the localization fuckery that has been an issue since Fates has not gotten better. The threat of AI becoming the new norm for translations I look forward to to fix these issues even if it is pretty fucky at first. Also,Advance Rebootcamp was a dud and Nintendo did not bother to polish the game during Ukraine. Plus added with the $60 price tag people would rather pay for Megaman Battle Network on Switch instead. Chucklefuck Studios really dropped the ball with Wargroove 2 here and honestly kinda sad no one heard about it to play. May of my favorites are also niche titles so I can relate. I will say I did enjoy all your streams with the PoR Maniac Mode being educational to me with why said mode was cut from the Western Release. And how to best deal with the BS if I ever want to play it. I already loved Brom in Radiant Dawn so seeing him carry his weight and them some was a treat. It is nice to know that my favorite farmhand/dad in Fire Emblem was such an Absolute Unit. The Andaron Saga streams I also loved to death and I really wished my computer was not utter shit to where I am STILL waiting to build a new one. It was fun to see how Ironman Friendly the game is as well as how well thought out each unit was to deal with some of the BS difficulty moments in Lunatic. Aisha is still my favorite girl. Yeah. Kinda hard to stand out in an Axe Emblem title but she does have a special place in my heart. I really loved looking forward to and shooting the shit on your streams and it helped me through some bullshit days at work and such I have been dealing with this year. It is a shame that you forgot to mention concluding Gaiden Abridged in this video. Unfortunate really, considering the Stockholm syndrome Gaiden gave you while you played through it one would assume that at the very least you would denounce it now that you are no longer held as prisoner to experiencing its low animation speed, or learning what the angel ring does, fighting zombie dragons, ship battles, green units, spirit forest, anyone not named Alm, et cetera.; however, perhaps I am wrong and you may in fact not despise mandating yourself to endure the torture that is Gaiden, raw egg.
Full bias to the project I worked on aside, my personal favorite from this channel has got to be the Gladiator Arena. It was so much fun to see my build go up against everyone else's, even though I got eliminated pretty early on. (Watch out, Flamelance, I'm still salty and will get revenge. This isn't cope whatsoever.) Even afterwards, it was fun to get together with my friends on discord and all root for our favorites to continue. If you ask me, the best thing about this channel is all the community based content that let's us participate in the videos, so I'm hyped for Corrinquest. I hope you're ready for another garbage meme build from me, Mangs! Here's to another great year!
Engage was disappointing. Hopefully the next Fire Emblem game either tries to have a good story and art style again, or they just cut out story and supports entirely if they don't even want to do them in the first place. Though if it's the latter I still wouldn't be interested, but at least they'd be honest. Also Mangs congratz on your wedding!!
I wasn’t disappointed.. It was excellent in a lot of ways although clearly not quite as good as its predecessor.. As far as Advance Wars they clearly didn’t put 100% into it and should have marketed better.. The delays didn’t help either.. Nevertheless I don’t regret adding it to the collection
Yes. I would say it was a bad year. Fire emblem is an old franchise, it picked up interest with a new generation of Nintendo fans but that can easily evaporate with time and a lack of quality in what’s being dished out. I don’t want my favorite game franchise to end, but I was prepared for it to end when awakening came out.
The best memories were from your FE7 Japanese ironman. All the Japanese related accidents and watching you get the entire roster killed was a lot of fun. But honestly i was just happy to see you ironman FE7 once again.
If they remake fe4 it would probably be most successful if it played more like 3H or a more modern FE. The mechanics are what keep me from enjoying fe4 to the fullest

It's just crazy to me that over a decade ago we were complaining about how bad Fates's Localization was but here we are with Engage which is just Fates taken to the next level, including an even worse localization, I'm sure this didn't help matters at all considering how huge word of mouth spread after that first month. It just feels like the Game that Nintendo wanted to sell to us, and the game NoA wanted to sell to us were two different games and that has to have reflected in FE's current Identity crisis situation that you mentioned in the video. It honestly feels like the games are as split and divided as the fanbase is which is absolutely insane to think about, but its true.
It is true as I have seen it in real time. When the game dropped, either people liked the game or despised it because they have seen better in the past. If you were unfortunate enough to critique the game on TH-cam, you were pretty much attacked by fans who thought that Engage was a 10/10 "fire emblem was never about the story" and that mentality is just dumb. There's no logic behind that reasoning as every FE game had a story prior. That's what Fire Emblem is and there is irrefutable proof that story is part of it's identity. That being said, yeeeaahh, the translation for this game in particular is the worst in the series I think (I will hold my breath though if the Holy War remake ends up being true). I really don't understand why they needed to cut out all the romantic scenes from all the characters. I hate to say it but romance sells (and sex appeal for better or for worse) and to remove that aspect when it has been in every game since Awakening and was one of the reasons why Awakening did so well. It was just a dumb decision it general. It would be one thing if everyone could be S ranked with any character which is not the case with Engage, but because it's only Alear that get's it. I just wonder if not adding romantic conversations at all to Engage (in both versions) would have made the translation less bad. This is a deep rabbit hole and I know there were changes to the translation that COULD be seen as good changes...but spoiling the twist to Holy War when the remake is rumored to be in development. Yeeeahhh, whoever did that should probably be fired I got to be honest.
The problem Fates had, that Engage also had, is that they had "controversial" elements that the translators deemed they needed to "fix". Can't have romantic implications with Anna? It’s not worth a second playthrough and the sp cost also limited a lot of experimenting. Sure they implemented the well but that should t be require especially on launch. Heck fan engagement is low for this game. Fanart is really low, memes didn’t stick but one, discussion is non existent and even the praise for the game is lackluster since it’s the same thing of a fun gameplay
Easily, the highlight of this year was the release of the greatest Fire Emblem ROM Hack to ever breach the internet, Andaron Saga. It's always wonderful to see something new, but it's a special kind of incredible to see a classic style game get released that really sparks on all the nostalgia us classic Fire Emblem fans feel. Andaron Saga did that and more, and I'm so incredibly pleased to have had the chance to play it. I hope this New Year is incredible for you, and I hope the next year is even better than this one!
So far we know nothing of what’s in store for Fire Emblem in the future but hopefully we get something and this may sound like crazy hopium but imagine a Days of Ruin Remake but done right and fixing everything the Reboot Camp failed to do.
2023 was good for fireemblem, engage sold well for an AA title and did good enough in JP, it's only really not doing well in the eyes of 3H grifters who got into the series from the marketing, the series was always like this. As an actual fan of the series who also suffered through the tellius times back when they nearly killed the series I had a blast with FE. I do wish the series continues in the current direction where gameplay is a central focus as replayability is at its best right now. Honestly I hardly find fans (whose engagement with the series is not youtube video essays) who dislike engage, might be a blessing because this eceleb followship is a blight upon any fanbase. I also liked andaron sage to play through it but its writing makes engage look like lord of the rings, the writers were on some heavy drugs writing it lmao. No loli definitely biggest downside, wheres my dragons? I hope AW content is being put more on the backburner, awbw has become very stale due to the nature of the game as compared to days of ruin. At least a change in format, 2v2 fog of war for example. Standard is just so dry.

Mangs, I’ll always appreciate your channel for fostering my love for Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. I’ve been a lurker since 2020, and this year has been the best one yet. My favorite moment of this year has to be when my niche, forgotten Sagittarii was picked for the gladiator CMU and surprised everyone by nearly winning Round 3. It was the first time I had really engaged with an online community so passionately, and I still hold fond memories of theory-crafting builds in the pre-stream chat. Can’t wait to see what next year brings for this channel!
I've just finished watching this video and it was incredibly well done, as usual. It never surprises me when you release quality. I've been a lurker ever since the Radiant Dawn let's play of 2018/2019. I've commented little, and interacted little within the streams, as I don't tend to watch streams live, and I didn't have much to add to the discussion in the comment section, although this is exceptional since you've directly asked. For me, the best moment of this channel this year was the release and subsequent play through of Andaron Saga. All of it was what I already have come to expect from this channel, but there was a higher level of speciality to it, considering it was your own creation, and seeing the positive reinforcement from those within the community was a sight to behold. I admire the progress you've made Mangs, and it pleases me to see how much better you're doing mentally. That part of the video resonated with me, as this has been the best year for me, I'd say, ever. I graduated from university, I've attended therapy, and I have started working. All of which happened in such a short space of time, and my everlasting gratitude currently has made me self aware of how low of a place I was once in, even though I didn't know it. I won't dwell on it too much, but considering where I've come from and what I've achieved in life, I felt like I didn't 'deserve' to be in a low place when I compared my own experiences with that of others who were open about their low mental health. I know now that mentality is flawed, and that everybody's experiences are valid. Take care Mangs, and happy new year to you and yours.

Was 2023 a bad year for Fire Emblem? Yes, yes it was. I hate repeating myself because I have explained why at least a hundred times already, but if I had to summarize Engage in one sentence that truly destroyed the game it would be "Your first Fire Emblem." That divide between older and newer fans is what made this game a completely failure to me and my friends who have played for years! It seems like IS has this extremely bad habit of switching between focusing on a good story (echos/3H) and good gameplay (Fates/Engage,) never both which is why all of their games in the past few years have either resinated with fans or not. IS needs to find that balance that makes old and new fans happy, otherwise their sales will continue to suffer...and I think cutting the avatar out after Engage would do wonders as well.

I have been enjoying watching the 'Impossible challenges' of advance wars. Mostly because it usually takes no longer than a day before they get beaten. On the other hand I will keep my expectations about Wars World and a fan made AW clone low. Development of such projects takes a long while, and I do not expect them to be publicly released soon.
Easily my favorite moment of the channel was being picked for the fe 8 pmu. I startet making my own custom portraits and animation palettes thanks to this channel. Happy new year everyone🎉
This year was a blast and I'm blessed to be part of this community. A highlight for me on this channel were the CMU streams, specially the finishing line of Awakening CMU were some of the most cursed and funniest yet, the christmas charity event was also really really fun. Something I'd like to see more next year are cohosts, if possible, and some lets play, who knows! Hope 2024 is even more of a banger
If a FE4 remake happens. it WILL sell me a console. Echoes sold me a 3DS. FE7 sold me not only a GB Advance SP, but multiple and the GB player for the Gamecube and the Gamecube (mind you I only got into FE yrs after those consoles came out, but still). I just want straightforward mildly simplistic gameplay, alongside a well told story (even if its as simple as Echoes).
My favorite moments this year with this channel was easily the engage streams, april fools streams, Reboot camp streams despite the games poor quality, the charity stream especially was amazing. I liked Engage but didn't love it. The thing I've always liked most about Fire Emblem games is the large cast of characters - I can overlook boring maps and classes feelling too similar, so long as the characters are engaging. And my biggest issue with Engage was how much its own characters and setting took a backseat to the returning characters from past games. I loved many of the Emblem Ring characters... in their own games, with their own setting and supporting cast. Same as I like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Conan the Barbarian, Warhammer, and D&D, but I'm not interested in cross-over between them - keep them seperate in their own worlds, I'm not interested in fantasy Smash Bros or Fortnite. So much attention was given on the past heroes it limited the time Alear got to spend with her/his own cast members, and this cast's impact in their own story. If the story had focused more on the Devine Dragon gathering allies to fight the Fell Dragon we could have perhaps had branching paths, specificially the option to visit the kingdoms in different order and see how that could impact our army layout, attachment to the characters and the story. For example, with the exception of Panette and Merrin, who I find funny, I barely use the Solm characters nor have I unlocked all their convos. By the time we get to Solm I've established my preffered battle line up and am focused on maxing out the relationships of the cast from the previous 3 kingdoms. However, because of the mcguffin rings, we need to visit each of the kingdom in order, because we also need to pick up the rings in order, and the reason for that it is because we also need to loose and then regain the rings in a particular order as dictated by the story - which is less about Alear being the choosen one and rallying the land again the Fell Dragon, and more about showing off the heroes of past entries. I actually have the impression that Byleth had a more established relationship with her students via stoic head nods and was more of a driving force in her own story despite being unvoiced and never saying anything, because Alear, despite having clear characterisation established by her/his voice actors, between battles just seems to be waiting around for Marth to photobomb her game again to give her directions on how to be a hero. If Nintendo want Marth in a game, then remake FE1 with the 3 Houses engine, please let this be the last time they shoehorn him into another character's story as a forced deuteragonist. And the same is true of the rest of them; I'd be delighted if Nintendo give us remakes of previous games on the new engine, but I don't need Ike, Celica, Chrom, Edelgard etc popping into an unrelated game for glorified cameos that detract attention and character agency from the new cast and story.
We got both a new FE and remake AW game in 2023. Neither are perfect but both series have been on the brink of extinction at times. Things are pretty good all things considered… Engage isn’t better than 3 Houses but it’s fun to play, it’s a new FE. Nintendo still cares about these.
My biggest grievance when it comes to Engage is the wasted potential a few of the characters had. I'm still very salty over the fact that someone like Diamant who I feel deserves the main character role is heavily overshadowed by Alear. I felt this way about Xander in Conquest years ago, but it didn't hurt as much since Xander was still an active character through out the whole game and the gameplay was still fun. What happened with Diamant is on a completely different level and even a year after the games released, I am still very salty about it. I just hate that characters like Diamant might never get another chance to be something more outside of his three or four chapters of character development. I know some people might not agree with me, but if writing is your hobby and you took classes on the subject. Stuff like this KILLS ME and I hate that this will be the last time we will see anything from Diamant...unless there is a Warriors 3 and even then, his inclusion is a shot in the dark honestly...
I'm still salty they used the opportunity to make Warriors 2 to make 3H Warriors. Could've just put 3H characters into Warriors 2, but no, we need a whole game for it. Cause of that we'll probably never see the likes of Roy or Ike in a Warriors game.
Engage is pretty fun going back into it knowing what it is, in fact I will die on the hill of it being more fun than Wyvern Emblem Thirty Warpskips. If the DLC was implemented better I think it'd be better received.
Finally beating PoR hardcore has got to me the highlight. It came well in time to end the year, and watching your previous attempts has several times made me replay PoR myself, though I still don't dare trying Hardcore. xD

Engage’s bad story was sadly par for the course for the last decade of fe games. That being said, it’s one of my favorite fe games I’ve ever played. The gameplay is so fun and there’s always the (+) skip story button. We forgive fates conquest for the same reason because the gameplay is fun, I don’t see why engage is any different.
are you forgetting three houses? Don't get me wrong even that game has a lot of flaws but At least the story and characters were intriguing and it created a lot of discussions within the community that engage completely falls flat on.
I felt 3H failed in both the gameplay and story department in different ways. I'll start with story first because I know everyone has a different opinion on it, but to me, the story was way to complex or the characters were tonally too bland for the material they were given. I can't really explain it, it's probably just my taste in things, but the story didn't really do it for me and playing through the game 4 or 5 times to see everything is just too much of an ask when I can speed run Conquest or Awakening and be done in under 30 hours or less. The gameplay is also very bland in 3H. This is where I feel Engage excels, but man. IS really has to get there writing department together. For me, not counting Echos, this is the third time where I felt the story fell flat and I don't really understand why. Fire Emblem has had AMAZING stories in the past like POR, RD, Holy War and a few others. I think in a weird way, they should stick to what they know but make it new while wording everything in a way that isn't too complicated. It's ok if you don't agree with me, but that's just how I feel anyway.
I've reached my breaking point with the series. I can no longer tolerate the abysmal localizations, and the translators' nasty, arrogant response to fans only intensifies my desire to move on from this series.

I unsubscribed for a bit during the Three Houses era, but I came back when Engage came out. t's insane seeing you still up and creating such fun and interesting content for such a beloved series of mine, especially after going through some tough personal years. I really need to play your hack one of these days! Glad to see your mental health is better! Seeing you finally conquer PoR Maniac was cathartic!
I hope people start messing around with Engage more. I've beaten it twice already, once on my first playthrough and once with everyone in goofy classes. I'm near the end of a third run, this time with all of my units as Martial Masters. I'm only on Normal this time, but if I ever try Maddening, I'm definitely making a busted Martial Master Veyle. Right now, with all of the Energy Drops and Spirit Dust, the Roy ring, and a Divine Fist +5, she has nearly 60 physical attack. I think I could one-round the final boss on Hard, possibly Maddening with Engage+. Add to that the ability to dance 3 times in a turn, and she could single-handedly kill Sombron in one turn. I love it.
While personally I don’t think were getting a new FE game anytime soon, cause I feel like Nintendo probably won’t launch their new console with an FE game. I do think 2024 will be much better for the FE community
@@megamanzero29 Omg, the fear that I feel when it comes to that. I actually quite enjoyed FE Warriors, but IS not adding any characters that existed before Awakening was a big mistake. They didn't even listen to fan out cry when it came to characters like Ike or Hector who were the most wanted at the time. I told my friends that if Fire Emblem Warriors 3 becomes a thing and Diamant was in it that I would probably give it a chance. I did the same thing with the first Warriors game involving Xander because I liked him a whole lot and completely forgot he was in it (I played FE Warriors for the first time last year, it's a good time). There's no reason as to why Diamant shouldn't be in it if IS cared about looking at the numbers online. In Japan, Diamant is the 2nd most popular character in the game (Alear is the first, so by default he is 1st, fight me 😏) and everywhere else (though I can't look them up because TH-cam won't let me go back that far) there were a series of community polls when the game came out and Diamant was either first or top three in all of them. I mention this because looking at fan feedback matters and that's something IS is really bad a doing. They will probably put in that random solider who won a popularity poll in Heros just to make people salty.

The Christmas charity streams are my favorite videos on this channel, I think it may be because it feels a little like a dnd campaign at times having each person move on their own turns., ensuing their own chaos in their own way.

My favorite memory from 2023 was discovering your channel. I don't remember how I found you but I think it was sometime this Spring. This is the first time I've felt somewhat comfortable in an online community and I really appreciate that.
Great fun was had in the Grand Arena, it was a spectacular event seeing the submiters reacting to the evolving theorycrafting of gladiator builts, and the upsets and turnabouts that occurred between the heroes, vilains, heels and faces whose legend was shaped in the progress of the tournament.
This is a bit cringey but the stream when I got to play against you Von Bolt vs Nell. I got to view my gameplay from the perspective of a more skilled player and I believe what I learned allowed me to improve my own skills in AWBW. I managed to reach a 900+ rating. I was quite interested in Advance Wars as I have been a fan for years and this AWBW interested me and I finally decided to join in this year. I look forward to next year with more good games and I hope I can somehow reach 1000+ rating.

I watched all the towards the end of this video. I just wanted to say that while I haven't been keeping up with the most recent streams I HAVE greatly enjoyed the Gladiator streams for the most part. With all that said however, Andaron Saga has stolen the show for me this year, well-written & loveable characters, beautiful CGs & official artwork, & SOME fun map designs [though i do think this is the biggest issue i have with the game currently]. I've no regrets making it my last video for 2024. This game is what got me out of my phase of doing nothing but shitposts & reuploads on my channel & I am ever so grateful for it. Thank you, Mangs looking forward to that Corrinquest stream as that was one of the 1st & only LPs of yours that i've finished. Here's to another great year!
I don't think Engage releasing late (2023) on Switch hurts its sales, the Switch sold a lot of videogames this year. IS just didn't care about Engage (not a lot of advertising, they just released the game like that, contrary to games like Pikmin 4 or Super Mario Wonder which both got a lot of advertising); the story and graphism turned off a lot of players, especially when you have this many RPGs in Switch, looking better and having better stories.
Agreed. I honestly believe that if you have a fantastic trailer that sells, people will by your shitty game which is something Fates did in spades (I'm still a Conquest defender...but the other two are terrible. There's no defending that.) Engages marketing is some of the worst I have ever seen. It's like they were embarrassed to show any parts of that game (I would be embarrassed too), and obviously having a shitty clown like design for your lead when most (I think) prefer a more traditional FE look probably had a lot to do with the sales numbers as well, but that's my two sense on it because Engage only made HALF of what three houses did...
Expect a sequel to that game soon. I wouldn't be surprised anymore to be honest.
It might be too early to say Engage has sold far worse than the other fire emblem games as we haven't gotten a sales update in a long time, though there's rumors that the sales did indeed crater after launch.
If it does end up selling badly, I hope intelligent systems and nintendo are humble enough to understand why people did not like it.
The other potential issue is like Mangs said, remakes don't sell as well as new games usually. So if the FE4 remake is real, but then it sells poorly too, it would definitely damage the series further.
@@dinar8749 That's fair. The last time I kept up with it, Engage had 1.6 million copies sold compared to 3H 3.5 million. Though, I don't know if that factors into digital sales, if it doesn't t, that's a completely different story. I know that some companies hide their numbers, especially if they didn't do well (like the advanced wars remake for example), so there's a lot to consider.
Either way, I felt that IS was banking on Engage to sell just as well if not more than 3H since they were targeting a newer audiences this time around. It backfired....hard...
They have to have had pretty low expectations for engage outside of Japan. It leans really heavily on nostalgia for games that most of their current audience have never played.
It's like having a nostalgia based final fantasy that leans heavy on 2, 3 and 5.
The graphics are the actual peak in the entire series and the gameplay was fantastic. The story was a classic fire emblem story with strong characters and a well developed and executed power system.
Yeah it should have been advertised more but other than not going super in depth on its characters and world history its superior to 3h in every way.

Engage was a good game, though, so not really a bad year? It was fine, to be perfectly honest.
edit: To add clarity to this, I think the only reason people downplay and undermine Engage so much is because the FE that came before was basically FE: Persona, ands there's a massive audience for that type of game- as a result of 3H's release, despite it being one of the weakest in the series (IMO), a lot of new people were introduced to the franchise expecting the next game and every other game to be Persona-likes.
Then, they weren't, and that upset people. People really should realize that 3H was the exception to the FE formula rather than the rule- and again, IMO, the game suffers for being a Persona-like because the gameplay in 3H was some of the worst in the genre.
Engage, on the other hand, was a return to form- a return to a simpler time where gameplay came first. And it shows, because Engage has some of the strongest gameplay in the series. Very good map design, too.
Is the story simple? Yes. It's a simple and more classical tale of good vs evil, black vs white- you have clear-cut good guys and bad guys. Does Engage have good characters? I think there are some, for sure.
People would also do well to remember that 3H, despite having so many characters and SO much dialogue, doesn't have the most interesting characters either- most of them are tropes with a tragic backstory attached, and they cling to their tropes incessantly.
Why make constant comparisons to 3H? Because it's the comparison that literally everyone and their mother makes, all the time, 24/7- I see it in Mangs' streams all the time, whether he's part of the discussion or it's just chat hamhawing about it. Just an observation of mine.
IMO, Fire Emblem is at it's best when gameplay takes point- to me, that puts Engage much higher on the good game list than 3H.
tl;dr It wasn't a bad year for Fire Emblem. Engage was a good game, and put gameplay first as FE games should. It also had good map design, and an absolutely banger OST that didn't ever miss. Those are my takeaways.

Couldn't agree more, three houses is probably the game in the series that differs the most from the rest and brought in a ton of new fans who were then expecting engage to follow the same format and were disappointed when it didn't. Everyone is entitled to like whatever they like and dislike whatever they don't like, but it is irksome to see people say engage is a bad fire emblem game when its just a return to form.

2023 was by far the worst year of my life, the year started with a lot of School s. here, wich is very attypical, many children lost their lives because of it, it stopped by august, but the damage was already done
And here on the city I live, many schools were closed, as if we didn't had few enough, so many people who graduate have to move to another city or pay for public transport to get there, or wait ton of gas, long live the governament :D
This was also the year that I quitted TH-cam Brazil for good, the ammount of people there who are so egocentristic and entiltled, that it pretty much became Twitter 2.0, they are capable of saying horroble things and most people still support them, reason there is pretty much gone, I still will watch *some* channels there, like Brasão de Armas for educational content, or Souzones and CIA for fun, but that is as far as I go, sadly, it really hurts my heart to leave my nation behind
This year was also the year my father became more and more agressive towards my family, he didn't do anything, and he's not capable of anything rough(thank god) but he became so mean that he's just a shell of his former self
One of the reasons we moved away from home was because of my father's side of the family, they were literally the worst people we could ever know, and mother's wasn't any better, they were the typical christians that only were that to have a better appearance to others, but having a totally diferent life within the four walls(Or just with they didn't liked, and no, they didn't liked us), so it really hurts me to see my father becoming exactly that
It was also a desastreous year for me as a Game Developer, I cancelled many projects, dropped from others, sometimes because my father was THAT abnoxius, others because my mind wasn't very good. It really sucks to have nothing to speak about in 2023
But for all the negativity I had this year, I also had many things that I glad God gave me, my Dungeon Master Kerdied/Ruler is the best person I could've asked for, he's such a good friend of mine, he's always there for me, whenever I need to open myself, he feels like a father figure for me, he's also a person that trully enjoys what I do, and whenever I running short on ideias, he's there to give me that push when I need it
This year was also the year that finally made me play Fire Emblem, I still have to get used to it as a Advance Wars player, but I want to primarily thank Andaron Saga for it, it has shown me a way to appreciate the franshise in a special way
And hey, if its worth telling, I started an RPG campaign based off Advance Wars, so the start of the next year will be fire to compensate

Engage delivered on being a good strategy game and thats what matters most. The story did fail to deliver, but this isnt the first time a game in the series has had good gameplay and a bad story (fates, new mystery). According to sales figures it was at 1.6 million sales figures as of march so its safe to assume it has passed 2 million in sales by the end of the year. Considering the game had less mainstream appeal than 3Houses and didnt have any promotion in smash bros id say the game was a success and not a flop. The only way it can be considered a failure is if youre a content creator who relies on the series popularity to make videos
It definitely did not pass 2 million. There was an update that it only sold a little less than 100,000 since it's initial 1.6 million.
It tanked hard after that initial period.

Engage was the best Fire Emblem game released since Echoes.
I am going to be honest. In terms of Fire Emblem this year and content in an official sense,it has not been the best year for Fire Emblem. Not terrible as the Dark Ages but it did fall off. I personally did not bother to buy it cause Monica Rial is voicing Anna and I have done the same with Soul Hackers 2 with Daman Mills as Lady Ginko. Plus added with the localization fuckery that has been an issue since Fates has not gotten better. The threat of AI becoming the new norm for translations I look forward to to fix these issues even if it is pretty fucky at first. Also,Advance Rebootcamp was a dud and Nintendo did not bother to polish the game during Ukraine. Plus added with the $60 price tag people would rather pay for Megaman Battle Network on Switch instead.
Chucklefuck Studios really dropped the ball with Wargroove 2 here and honestly kinda sad no one heard about it to play. May of my favorites are also niche titles so I can relate. I will say I did enjoy all your streams with the PoR Maniac Mode being educational to me with why said mode was cut from the Western Release. And how to best deal with the BS if I ever want to play it. I already loved Brom in Radiant Dawn so seeing him carry his weight and them some was a treat. It is nice to know that my favorite farmhand/dad in Fire Emblem was such an Absolute Unit. The Andaron Saga streams I also loved to death and I really wished my computer was not utter shit to where I am STILL waiting to build a new one. It was fun to see how Ironman Friendly the game is as well as how well thought out each unit was to deal with some of the BS difficulty moments in Lunatic. Aisha is still my favorite girl. Yeah. Kinda hard to stand out in an Axe Emblem title but she does have a special place in my heart.

It is a shame that you forgot to mention concluding Gaiden Abridged in this video. Unfortunate really, considering the Stockholm syndrome Gaiden gave you while you played through it one would assume that at the very least you would denounce it now that you are no longer held as prisoner to experiencing its low animation speed, or learning what the angel ring does, fighting zombie dragons, ship battles, green units, spirit forest, anyone not named Alm, et cetera.; however, perhaps I am wrong and you may in fact not despise mandating yourself to endure the torture that is Gaiden, raw egg.
Full bias to the project I worked on aside, my personal favorite from this channel has got to be the Gladiator Arena. It was so much fun to see my build go up against everyone else's, even though I got eliminated pretty early on. (Watch out, Flamelance, I'm still salty and will get revenge. This isn't cope whatsoever.) Even afterwards, it was fun to get together with my friends on discord and all root for our favorites to continue. If you ask me, the best thing about this channel is all the community based content that let's us participate in the videos, so I'm hyped for Corrinquest. Engage was disappointing. Hopefully the next Fire Emblem game either tries to have a good story and art style again, or they just cut out story and supports entirely if they don't even want to do them in the first place. Though if it's the latter I still wouldn't be interested, but at least they'd be honest.

I wasn’t disappointed.. It was excellent in a lot of ways although clearly not quite as good as its predecessor.. As far as Advance Wars they clearly didn’t put 100% into it and should have marketed better.. The delays didn’t help either.. Nevertheless I don’t regret adding it to the collection

Yes. I would say it was a bad year. Fire emblem is an old franchise, it picked up interest with a new generation of Nintendo fans but that can easily evaporate with time and a lack of quality in what’s being dished out. I don’t want my favorite game franchise to end, but I was prepared for it to end when awakening came out.
The best memories were from your FE7 Japanese ironman. All the Japanese related accidents and watching you get the entire roster killed was a lot of fun. But honestly i was just happy to see you ironman FE7 once again.
If they remake fe4 it would probably be most successful if it played more like 3H or a more modern FE. The mechanics are what keep me from enjoying fe4 to the fullest

It's just crazy to me that over a decade ago we were complaining about how bad Fates's Localization was but here we are with Engage which is just Fates taken to the next level, including an even worse localization, I'm sure this didn't help matters at all considering how huge word of mouth spread after that first month. It just feels like the Game that Nintendo wanted to sell to us, and the game NoA wanted to sell to us were two different games and that has to have reflected in FE's current Identity crisis situation that you mentioned in the video. It honestly feels like the games are as split and divided as the fanbase is which is absolutely insane to think about, but its true.
It is true as I have seen it in real time. When the game dropped, either people liked the game or despised it because they have seen better in the past. If you were unfortunate enough to critique the game on TH-cam, you were pretty much attacked by fans who thought that Engage was a 10/10 "fire emblem was never about the story" and that mentality is just dumb. There's no logic behind that reasoning as every FE game had a story prior. That's what Fire Emblem is and there is irrefutable proof that story is part of it's identity.
That being said, yeeeaahh, the translation for this game in particular is the worst in the series I think (I will hold my breath though if the Holy War remake ends up being true). I really don't understand why they needed to cut out all the romantic scenes from all the characters. I hate to say it but romance sells (and sex appeal for better or for worse) and to remove that aspect when it has been in every game since Awakening and was one of the reasons why Awakening did so well. It was just a dumb decision it general. It would be one thing if everyone could be S ranked with any character which is not the case with Engage, but because it's only Alear that get's it. I just wonder if not adding romantic conversations at all to Engage (in both versions) would have made the translation less bad.
This is a deep rabbit hole and I know there were changes to the translation that COULD be seen as good changes...but spoiling the twist to Holy War when the remake is rumored to be in development. Yeeeahhh, whoever did that should probably be fired I got to be honest.
The problem Fates had, that Engage also had, is that they had "controversial" elements that the translators deemed they needed to "fix". Can't have romantic implications with Anna? Well you can't have romantic implications for anyone then. Would not be surprised in the slightest if Treehouse was behind the Engage localization.@@binxthebinx6575
@@binxthebinx6575word of mouth definitely played a part. Even fire emblem TH-camr have moved on to other games once they beat it. It’s not worth a second playthrough and the sp cost also limited a lot of experimenting. Sure they implemented the well but that should t be require especially on launch. Heck fan engagement is low for this game. Fanart is really low, memes didn’t stick but one, discussion is non existent and even the praise for the game is lackluster since it’s the same thing of a fun gameplay

Easily, the highlight of this year was the release of the greatest Fire Emblem ROM Hack to ever breach the internet, Andaron Saga.
It's always wonderful to see something new, but it's a special kind of incredible to see a classic style game get released that really sparks on all the nostalgia us classic Fire Emblem fans feel. Andaron Saga did that and more, and I'm so incredibly pleased to have had the chance to play it.
I hope this New Year is incredible for you, and I hope the next year is even better than this one!
Engage is my favorite fire emblem since Radiant Dawn, so it was a good year if you ask me.

So far we know nothing of what’s in store for Fire Emblem in the future but hopefully we get something and this may sound like crazy hopium but imagine a Days of Ruin Remake but done right and fixing everything the Reboot Camp failed to do.
2023 was good for fireemblem, engage sold well for an AA title and did good enough in JP, it's only really not doing well in the eyes of 3H grifters who got into the series from the marketing, the series was always like this. As an actual fan of the series who also suffered through the tellius times back when they nearly killed the series I had a blast with FE. I do wish the series continues in the current direction where gameplay is a central focus as replayability is at its best right now.
Honestly I hardly find fans (whose engagement with the series is not youtube video essays) who dislike engage, might be a blessing because this eceleb followship is a blight upon any fanbase.
I also liked andaron sage to play through it but its writing makes engage look like lord of the rings, the writers were on some heavy drugs writing it lmao. No loli definitely biggest downside, wheres my dragons?
I hope AW content is being put more on the backburner, awbw has become very stale due to the nature of the game as compared to days of ruin. At least a change in format, 2v2 fog of war for example. Standard is just so dry.

Mangs, I’ll always appreciate your channel for fostering my love for Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. I’ve been a lurker since 2020, and this year has been the best one yet. My favorite moment of this year has to be when my niche, forgotten Sagittarii was picked for the gladiator CMU and surprised everyone by nearly winning Round 3. It was the first time I had really engaged with an online community so passionately, and I still hold fond memories of theory-crafting builds in the pre-stream chat. Can’t wait to see what next year brings for this channel!

I've just finished watching this video and it was incredibly well done, as usual. It never surprises me when you release quality.
I've been a lurker ever since the Radiant Dawn let's play of 2018/2019. I've commented little, and interacted little within the streams, as I don't tend to watch streams live, and I didn't have much to add to the discussion in the comment section, although this is exceptional since you've directly asked.
For me, the best moment of this channel this year was the release and subsequent play through of Andaron Saga. All of it was what I already have come to expect from this channel, but there was a higher level of speciality to it, considering it was your own creation, and seeing the positive reinforcement from those within the community was a sight to behold.
I admire the progress you've made Mangs, and it pleases me to see how much better you're doing mentally. That part of the video resonated with me, as this has been the best year for me, I'd say, ever. I graduated from university, I've attended therapy, and I have started working. All of which happened in such a short space of time, and my everlasting gratitude currently has made me self aware of how low of a place I was once in, even though I didn't know it. I won't dwell on it too much, but considering where I've come from and what I've achieved in life, I felt like I didn't 'deserve' to be in a low place when I compared my own experiences with that of others who were open about their low mental health. I know now that mentality is flawed, and that everybody's experiences are valid.

Was 2023 a bad year for Fire Emblem? Yes, yes it was. I hate repeating myself because I have explained why at least a hundred times already, but if I had to summarize Engage in one sentence that truly destroyed the game it would be "Your first Fire Emblem." That divide between older and newer fans is what made this game a completely failure to me and my friends who have played for years!
It seems like IS has this extremely bad habit of switching between focusing on a good story (echos/3H) and good gameplay (Fates/Engage,) never both which is why all of their games in the past few years have either resinated with fans or not. IS needs to find that balance that makes old and new fans happy, otherwise their sales will continue to suffer...and I think cutting the avatar out after Engage would do wonders as well.

I have been enjoying watching the 'Impossible challenges' of advance wars. Mostly because it usually takes no longer than a day before they get beaten. On the other hand I will keep my expectations about Wars World and a fan made AW clone low. Development of such projects takes a long while, and I do not expect them to be publicly released soon.
Easily my favorite moment of the channel was being picked for the fe 8 pmu. I startet making my own custom portraits and animation palettes thanks to this channel. Happy new year everyone🎉

This year was a blast and I'm blessed to be part of this community. A highlight for me on this channel were the CMU streams, specially the finishing line of Awakening CMU were some of the most cursed and funniest yet, the christmas charity event was also really really fun.
Something I'd like to see more next year are cohosts, if possible, and some lets play, who knows!

It had good sales, but the game itself is very mid.
If a FE4 remake happens. it WILL sell me a console. Echoes sold me a 3DS. FE7 sold me not only a GB Advance SP, but multiple and the GB player for the Gamecube and the Gamecube (mind you I only got into FE yrs after those consoles came out, but still). I just want straightforward mildly simplistic gameplay, alongside a well told story (even if its as simple as Echoes).
My favorite moments this year with this channel was easily the engage streams, april fools streams, Reboot camp streams despite the games poor quality, the charity stream especially was amazing. Can't forget the Chess Streams and the Gladiator arena.

I never actually cared for Engage. As soon as I saw the other lords appear in the game, my interest went from 10% to 0%.

Well, personally, AW1+2 streams were great. I watched almost every last minute of them, and, honestly, it was sad for me to watch your video with criticism, as I remember you loving Re-boot camp on said streams... Anyway, Happy New Year from Russia!
I liked Engage but didn't love it. The thing I've always liked most about Fire Emblem games is the large cast of characters - I can overlook boring maps and classes feelling too similar, so long as the characters are engaging. And my biggest issue with Engage was how much its own characters and setting took a backseat to the returning characters from past games. I loved many of the Emblem Ring characters... in their own games, with their own setting and supporting cast. Same as I like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Conan the Barbarian, Warhammer, and D&D, but I'm not interested in cross-over between them - keep them seperate in their own worlds, I'm not interested in fantasy Smash Bros or Fortnite.
So much attention was given on the past heroes it limited the time Alear got to spend with her/his own cast members, and this cast's impact in their own story. If the story had focused more on the Devine Dragon gathering allies to fight the Fell Dragon we could have perhaps had branching paths, specificially the option to visit the kingdoms in different order and see how that could impact our army layout, attachment to the characters and the story. For example, with the exception of Panette and Merrin, who I find funny, I barely use the Solm characters nor have I unlocked all their convos. By the time we get to Solm I've established my preffered battle line up and am focused on maxing out the relationships of the cast from the previous 3 kingdoms. However, because of the mcguffin rings, we need to visit each of the kingdom in order, because we also need to pick up the rings in order, and the reason for that it is because we also need to loose and then regain the rings in a particular order as dictated by the story - which is less about Alear being the choosen one and rallying the land again the Fell Dragon, and more about showing off the heroes of past entries.
I actually have the impression that Byleth had a more established relationship with her students via stoic head nods and was more of a driving force in her own story despite being unvoiced and never saying anything, because Alear, despite having clear characterisation established by her/his voice actors, between battles just seems to be waiting around for Marth to photobomb her game again to give her directions on how to be a hero.
If Nintendo want Marth in a game, then remake FE1 with the 3 Houses engine, please let this be the last time they shoehorn him into another character's story as a forced deuteragonist. And the same is true of the rest of them; I'd be delighted if Nintendo give us remakes of previous games on the new engine, but I don't need Ike, Celica, Chrom, Edelgard etc popping into an unrelated game for glorified cameos that detract attention and character agency from the new cast and story.
We got both a new FE and remake AW game in 2023. Neither are perfect but both series have been on the brink of extinction at times. Things are pretty good all things considered… Engage isn’t better than 3 Houses but it’s fun to play, it’s a new FE. Nintendo still cares about these.
My biggest grievance when it comes to Engage is the wasted potential a few of the characters had. I'm still very salty over the fact that someone like Diamant who I feel deserves the main character role is heavily overshadowed by Alear. I felt this way about Xander in Conquest years ago, but it didn't hurt as much since Xander was still an active character through out the whole game and the gameplay was still fun. What happened with Diamant is on a completely different level and even a year after the games released, I am still very salty about it. I just hate that characters like Diamant might never get another chance to be something more outside of his three or four chapters of character development. I know some people might not agree with me, but if writing is your hobby and you took classes on the subject. Stuff like this KILLS ME and I hate that this will be the last time we will see anything from Diamant...unless there is a Warriors 3 and even then, his inclusion is a shot in the dark honestly...
I'm still salty they used the opportunity to make Warriors 2 to make 3H Warriors. Could've just put 3H characters into Warriors 2, but no, we need a whole game for it. Cause of that we'll probably never see the likes of Roy or Ike in a Warriors game.
Your Golden Sun streams were fun too. Would love to see you do more streams of Golden Sun 2.
Engage is pretty fun going back into it knowing what it is, in fact I will die on the hill of it being more fun than Wyvern Emblem Thirty Warpskips. If the DLC was implemented better I think it'd be better received.
Finally beating PoR hardcore has got to me the highlight. It came well in time to end the year, and watching your previous attempts has several times made me replay PoR myself, though I still don't dare trying Hardcore. xD

Engage’s bad story was sadly par for the course for the last decade of fe games. That being said, it’s one of my favorite fe games I’ve ever played. The gameplay is so fun and there’s always the (+) skip story button. We forgive fates conquest for the same reason because the gameplay is fun, I don’t see why engage is any different.
are you forgetting three houses? Don't get me wrong even that game has a lot of flaws but At least the story and characters were intriguing and it created a lot of discussions within the community that engage completely falls flat on.

I felt 3H failed in both the gameplay and story department in different ways. I'll start with story first because I know everyone has a different opinion on it, but to me, the story was way to complex or the characters were tonally too bland for the material they were given. I can't really explain it, it's probably just my taste in things, but the story didn't really do it for me and playing through the game 4 or 5 times to see everything is just too much of an ask when I can speed run Conquest or Awakening and be done in under 30 hours or less.
The gameplay is also very bland in 3H. This is where I feel Engage excels, but man. IS really has to get there writing department together. For me, not counting Echos, this is the third time where I felt the story fell flat and I don't really understand why. Fire Emblem has had AMAZING stories in the past like POR, RD, Holy War and a few others. I think in a weird way, they should stick to what they know but make it new while wording everything in a way that isn't too complicated. It's ok if you don't agree with me, but that's just how I feel anyway.
I've reached my breaking point with the series. I can no longer tolerate the abysmal localizations, and the translators' nasty, arrogant response to fans only intensifies my desire to move on from this series.

I unsubscribed for a bit during the Three Houses era, but I came back when Engage came out. t's insane seeing you still up and creating such fun and interesting content for such a beloved series of mine, especially after going through some tough personal years. I really need to play your hack one of these days!

I hope people start messing around with Engage more. I've beaten it twice already, once on my first playthrough and once with everyone in goofy classes. I'm near the end of a third run, this time with all of my units as Martial Masters. I'm only on Normal this time, but if I ever try Maddening, I'm definitely making a busted Martial Master Veyle. Right now, with all of the Energy Drops and Spirit Dust, the Roy ring, and a Divine Fist +5, she has nearly 60 physical attack. I think I could one-round the final boss on Hard, possibly Maddening with Engage+. Add to that the ability to dance 3 times in a turn, and she could single-handedly kill Sombron in one turn. I love it.

While personally I don’t think were getting a new FE game anytime soon, cause I feel like Nintendo probably won’t launch their new console with an FE game. I do think 2024 will be much better for the FE community

@@megamanzero29 Omg, the fear that I feel when it comes to that. I actually quite enjoyed FE Warriors, but IS not adding any characters that existed before Awakening was a big mistake. They didn't even listen to fan out cry when it came to characters like Ike or Hector who were the most wanted at the time.
I told my friends that if Fire Emblem Warriors 3 becomes a thing and Diamant was in it that I would probably give it a chance. I did the same thing with the first Warriors game involving Xander because I liked him a whole lot and completely forgot he was in it (I played FE Warriors for the first time last year, it's a good time).
There's no reason as to why Diamant shouldn't be in it if IS cared about looking at the numbers online. In Japan, Diamant is the 2nd most popular character in the game (Alear is the first, so by default he is 1st, fight me 😏) and everywhere else (though I can't look them up because TH-cam won't let me go back that far) there were a series of community polls when the game came out and Diamant was either first or top three in all of them.
I mention this because looking at fan feedback matters and that's something IS is really bad a doing. They will probably put in that random solider who won a popularity poll in Heros just to make people salty.

After all in warriors despite limitations they did add popular side characters (owain Cordelia tharja Niles linde etc) as long as the character is well received they got a great chance of appearing. The Christmas charity streams are my favorite videos on this channel, I think it may be because it feels a little like a dnd campaign at times having each person move on their own turns., ensuing their own chaos in their own way.
Your Path of Radiance and Awakening CMU streams were hilarious and fun to watch, same with the end of year charity stream, never a dull moment with Mangs.

Great fun was had in the Grand Arena, it was a spectacular event seeing the submiters reacting to the evolving theorycrafting of gladiator builts, and the upsets and turnabouts that occurred between the heroes, vilains, heels and faces whose legend was shaped in the progress of the tournament.

This is a bit cringey but the stream when I got to play against you Von Bolt vs Nell. I got to view my gameplay from the perspective of a more skilled player and I believe what I learned allowed me to improve my own skills in AWBW. I managed to reach a 900+ rating. I was quite interested in Advance Wars as I have been a fan for years and this AWBW interested me and I finally decided to join in this year. I look forward to next year with more good games and I hope I can somehow reach 1000+ rating.
