Ya with animation you can make the visuals much more surreal to great effect. But I do agree that the stories and artwork in these shorts are great and easily on par
He reminds me of people who master an instrument with no knowledge of music. Like they don't know what "a note" or a "chord" or "progression" is, but he knows instinctually "that human isnt real" or "I can go fast, run faster." Its almost like the Matrix doesn't trick him not because he's smart or took the red pill, but simply because he's a shark in a pond; no machine could possibly hope to create a matrix to contain his infinite willpower. Its honestly inspiring.
It's like the dialogue Quentin Tarantino writes for himself in his own movies in his mind it's deep and Philosophical but in reality it's just coffee nothing more nothing less.
He wasn’t freed a second time because the agent slowed down time to push him to the floor, that’s why the agent disappears right after, Dan wasn’t fast enough.
Disagree. He was never looking to be free in a "Matrix" like sense. He just wanted to be great. He was motivated beyond the Matrix programmers could code... the human resolve extends beyond the Matrix's ability to contain it.
Theory time real quick This is a previous version of the matrix That’s why the setting appears more towards the present of “the real world” The nurse walking him is a version of the oracle Reason being is because the matrix didn’t know how to handle him breaking out on his own so they sent the oracle to monitor what he does and her choice of topic is “baked goods” which the oracle always spoke about with humans to recur found memory’s of youth and “love” that’s why when she asks “what more can a person ask for?” Is a question to make a choice.
This segment of the Animatrix was directed by Takeshi Koike, the same guy who directed Redline. Highly recommended, not the craziest of stories but the art is pure candies for the eye.
Probably the most important scene to understand the difference between humans and the machines , they simply cannot comprehend the insane willpower of the runner. That's why the matrix will never be able to have stability, it doesn't match human complexity.
These are only my assertions, but seen from the side of the machines, their work is a constant battle to reaffirm the positions of the individuals who seek to leave the matrix. And especially the notable ones where there is the great possibility that they are the chosen one or at least beings capable of bending the rules of reality. All this combined with each one being a piece of the puzzle and exterminating them at random run the risk of breaking the delicate balance of the matrix.
@@ClassicalAI Ah, like, if people started to go missing. The other people in the Matrix would question it and if this happened enough this would like to a greater awareness of something 'not being right' and could eventually lead to everyone become aware of the Matrix
The internal matrix agent programs have one program objective which is maintaining order within the simulation. They are probably unaware of the greater scope of the machines plan with the humans and the matrix. The machines external to the matrix have another.
I think Dan was under scrutiny because he was a true outlier. The Matrix configured the human body to move in certain ways, withstand a certain degree of pain, &c. Muscles and tendons tearing while at full power should have made Dan collapse in pain or falter. But Dan simply ignored his allotted limits and pushed forward. Unlike others who realize that the Matrix is not freedom often do through observation and examination, but Dan simply challenged and defeated the Matrix's idea of the human body and the physical reality. This is an issue to the Agents since 1) Dan is a proof that the Matrix is imperfect, 2) from within-Matrix, Dan's superhuman achievement might inspire others to challenge this reality, and 3) humans breaking out of the illusion tend to cause problems. I think the final scene is important because Dan (who's supposed to have ruined his legs to the point that they need restraint to prevent further damage) craves the freedom afforded by breaking away from physical limits to the point metal screws and binds snap and break like they are twigs. Dan is quite literally someone the Matrix cannot handle due to its faulty and arrogant specification of human willpower.
He wanted to get out of the matrix again because the caregiver wouldn't shut up with the conversation about cherry pies and the never ending gossiping about a nurse rival.
Been watching this version and comparing it to the original to an almost unhealthy degree. I'm not sure which one I like better since they both evoke slightly different, but equally compelling emotions. If I were to describe both in a single phrase, I would say the original scene is "A hero awakens" while this is "The human spirit will persevere, no matter what". The original draws obvious parallels to Neo and everything that he symbolizes with the lietmotif, where as this stands (pun intended) on its own.
Everything about World Record is so perfect. Especially the agent almost appearing shocked that Dan continues to undermine the Matrix by partially walking again. I think the Animatrix is my most favorite anime in general. I don't watch anime much, but this is just such a unique and GOOD concept of a movie.
TV series would be awesome, even greater if it's not at first titled as the matrix. The wrongness you feel about the plot, then one of the main characters suddenly wakes up and you understand you were right all along
