  • 🤤 Oatmeal is my go-to for a satiating, nutritious breakfast or snack.
    It's extremely nutrient dense, and it's easy to make savory or sweet, depending on what flavor profile you're feeling.
    Try this overnight oats recipe (an absolute favorite in our house)
    🥣 OVERNIGHT OATS:
    1/2 cup oats
    1 scoop protein powder
    1 tbsp nut butter
    1 tsp cocoa powder
    1 tbsp cocoa nibs
    1/2 banana or apple (cut up)
    1 cup water
    Shake it up, store in your fridge overnight and enjoy warm or cold the next day!
    Macros:
    Carb - 43 grams
    Fat - 14 grams
    Protein - 33 grams

    I have every oats every morning, have done for decades, my Mum feed us with it for breakfast, so became a lifelong habit 😂
    These days I add 4 X prunes (coz I'm getting old). I blend scoop of whey with 2 raw eggs and use that as my 'milk'. Drink the rest as I eat.

    • @RC-tm8jo
      @RC-tm8jo 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree. I used to eat 1.5 cups cooked oatmeal. I stopped eating oatmeal and started eating 4 eggs and 5 or 6 strips of bacon or two sausage patties every day and the eggs and fatty meat kept me satiated for much longer than the oatmeal. The oatmeal kept me going for 4 hours, whereas the eggs and fatty meat took me to 8 hours or more, so I would skip snacking and skip lunch as well. I am now high fat and very low carb, mostly meat and eggs every day and I feel much better than any previous diet I've ever been on.

      @RoflJoker1994 I have experimented with adding some carbohydrates back in. Every time, it makes me want to snack in between meals. I can't control my carbohydrate addiction, so being as close to zero carbohydrates helps in that I never have the urge to snack between meals and I can water fast only for multiple days with ease if I choose to, which I do some 72-hour water only fasts (with some electrolyte supplementation only during the fast) every two or three months. Good luck to you and I'm glad you are able to control your carbohydrate consumption and not eat too many like I would if I ate them 😆.

    It's more an individual matter here. Oats aren't easily digested by everyone. Also the response to the glycemic load can be different in different people. If you like them and are able to work with them, oats are an extremely good grain to have in your diet. Measuring them by weight or volume is useful though. Many calories can be added by not that much amount in general

    I love oatmeal but oatmeal is a grain, grains are seeds that have defense chemicals (saponins) to protect itself from insect, fungal, and bacterial pathogens. Phytic acid is also present in grains which robs your body of nutrients and affects your gut biome (extremely important). Oats can also accumulate heavy metals and mold. I would replace my oats with cottage cheese/honey/fruit for the carb source.

    • @marcusfilly
      @marcusfilly  ปีที่แล้ว +18

      The oatmeal debate is a hot one right now. The first question to ask yourself is "Are Oats causing me a problem or am I doing great with them?"
      Oats can accumulate heavy metals and mold just like any other food that is poorly grown/farmed. Find high-quality oats if you are concerned. Buy organic, certified glyphosate-free, oats.
      If you are concerned about your antinutrients then just soak your oats for 7-15 hours at room temperature before you cook them. Cooking also removes a lot of the phytic acid as well.
      I stopped eating oats for a long time and went completely Animal Based after listening to all of this content circulating around. When I went back to oats my blood markers have improved, my digestion is doing great, and I'm NOT deficient in any of the nutrients that are supposedly being robbed out of my diet.

    • @remisis023
      @remisis023 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marcusfillyThere's some good context here that couldn't make it into the short and this may persuade other people to eat oats; for a high-tier athlete who has dialed in their micronutrients such as yourself, you're clearly good.
      I'm not sure how many people watching this video will go through soaking their oats or bother getting organic 🤞🏽how many people are already micronutrient deficient and training? I would personally rather not worry.
      In regards to your blood markers which ones were you seeing issues with? I have a blood test coming up and would love to monitor some important markers, thanks.
