    The FA cups of the 70s were great , great teams great players great atmosphere and even the commentators were the greatest

      The halcyon days mate, even the league cup meant something, Tuert 76 as an example.

    I was 15 that day and standing with my old dad behind the goal where Taylor scored. Probably the best football day in my life. Driving down from Darlington I was so nervous before the match, but the sporting gods were on our side that day. Unforgettable. I’ll take it to my grave!!

    I was 10 years old. Alan Taylor has forever been my fav. west ham player because of this memory.

      @@Canas94 It means a lot to some fans but the damn media trying to say Champions league more important which isn't because you play the sport to win trophies not help your employers get more money and maybe sell you off to a bigger team once they agree a price.

    No gloves, like the ultra padding protection of todays goalkeepers. It must have felt like getting "six of the best" on the hands.

      It really didn`t hurt that much at all.And much easier to catch the ball with bare hands too.

    Back when teams across divisions could and would compete for the Cup. Just wish the result could've gone better for Fulham!

    Back in the day when the whole country would watch the FA Cup final because it was the only league game shown live on TV.
    Took TV execs and the FA another decade until it twigged that people liked to watch live football on telly and would pay to do so.

    The best sight was Billy Bonds holding the cup aloft! The worst was Bobby Moore leading the opposition out. Bobby had claret & blue blood in his veins!

    Always used to look forward to these finals, no matter who was in them. Unfortunately, a great many of them were dull boring affairs, including this one. Spurs V Coventry was one of the exceptions. Lpool V Everton twice were another 2.

    Keeper had a mare didnt he. I was too nervous to watch the match...played football in my back garden with my brother. Came in when we were one nil up...I was nine. Up the Irons.

    I was 18 when I was at the final. I believe it was the last time a team won the cup fielding 11 Englishmen .

      @@glynnevans1851 I lived in Seven Kings, Essex and the West Ham of Moore, Peters and Hurst were my local team. My late Uncle used to take me to the matches. Whilst the hammers lost more than they won, I have happy memories of those times.

      @@kcinh Thanks for your reply Nick.Very nice were you live sir but much more expensive to buy a house than up here.Those West Ham days you mention were Fab era for the club possibly Ron Greenwood then was to mellow. Football today as lost its way and does not reflect the true game also there is very little passing the ball now and no old fashioned Wingers like Dave Wagstaff and Derek Parkin both ex Wolves late 60s n early 70s. Wages r far to high and players like Bale n Kane are so big headed and think there indispensable, both these I think there very overrated sir .Do you like your new ground..Nice chatting with you Nick n kind regards Glynn 🤝

    I got nicked at the arsenal game for fighting put in a cage with several other west ham fans didn't support either team. Wanted to see a game of football , I was 18 my dad went mad when the police arrived at the front door next day

    The old school commentators put todays to shame in terms of passion.David Coleman,Gerry Sinstadt,Hugh Johns,Tony Gubba,Barry Davies etc .. all unique styles .. made a poor game sound terrific.
