I was on my way to draw, not really inspired, then I saw this new video 😎😎 I must say, I never really heard of the beans technique, I've always used boxes or the ribcage+circles and lines, I wanna try
OMG! Perfect timing then!! 😂 The bean technique was game changer for me when it came to anatomy and gesture drawing so maybe it will be helpful for you too! 🤗 Lemme know how drawing them beans go! 👀💖
You could also draw two boxes and connect them together, which is called the robo bean, instead of using two circles. Doing this gives the torso and pelvis more dimension.
Super valid tip!! Cause you can represent foreshortening of the torso much easier with the robo bean 😤 but I will still prefer the normal bean just because it’s more organic and it isn’t as stiff as the robo bean which is why I think the bean is better for gesture drawing 😎💖
This was really helpful. I hadn't heard of the bean method, but it makes so much sense. I'll try it and see if I prefer it to the building block method I learnt recently. Thanks for sharing your tips!!
Amazing video; an absolutely life-saving resource. I’ll definitely have to start incorporating the bean into how I draw, because it very evidently helps bring life to poses and grounds the anatomy! Thanks again for such amazing content! ❤
Another great video! I am now stuck on learning face anatomy and the placement of facial features (maybe an idea for a next video? 😁) I am improving luckily! My next step is going to be the anatomy for the body so this video is coming in clutch! Thanks again Janelle!
"The torso is the most important." Me: Having the issue of elongating torsoes that make my characters look like snakes for years now... it's just an issue that always creeps back into my works.
Nice tips Janelle 👏
Thanks Sean! 🥰
