I find it amusing that I actually play variants of both of these decks. Watching the professionals play GOOD Magic, though--as opposed to my BAD Magic--really gives some insights.
Maybe someone can explain why Wizard's would show Pardee at the feature match for three consecutive rounds before the top 8. I mean they really couldn't put in a different match up other than Pardee on Pod vs X for three straight rounds? Weird.
At the time, he was likely a top seat? If you catch the first match (draft) of the day 2 they discuss how there was a top seat that would pass winner to winner and if he kept winning, he was staying on feature.
Wasn't he on the cusp of not making top 8? I thought 3 of the feature match tables were for players 1 loss away from being cut from top 8, and 1 table was for king of the hill.
It's not pox. Believe it or not there are more than one type of mono-black deck. Most people seem to think that if the deck is mono-black its pox. This is not a pox deck. It play's small pox because it provides an incredible amount of value in this deck but it doesn't rely on it to win, nor is it based on the card. You don't call every deck that plays Thoughtseize a Thoughtseize deck. If people payed any attention to the decks being played in modern they'd know that this deck has been lurking for a long, long time along with a few other versions of mono black control. Calling this a modern pox deck is doing nothing other than showing how little you actually know about the archetypes in the format and how lazy you are, not researching whats out there and whats being played.
Oh, sweet. It's good to see 8Rack getting so far in the Pro Tour.
Arjan and Samuel can get a pair of nail clippers as a gift from wizards and the whole magic community
I was definitely 12 in 1995, and I definitely did play a discard deck featuring The Rack!

Mistrblank nevermind, he wasn't at the king of the hill table (unless they were running more than one)

Why was there a Facebook sound at 50:01?
Why not none of your business
Sephvion thanks!
I like how Marshal keeps pronouncing "Viscera" correctly, and Randy keeps finding new ways to pronounce it wrong.
why did arjan fold in game one? if sam gains infinite life he will still lose to mill before arjan
+Nina Quesadilla He did infinite damage with the redcap instead of the infinite damage with the finks
Kevin Kim thanks for clarifying

Reminds me of the Megrim/Bottomless Pit deck I brewed back in 97/98. Except it's rack, which is obviously older than Tempest/Stronghold ;-)
Triggered. Lol
Nah, it's a Pox deck.
I miss Pod :'( RIP

Arjan has played so badly. Why the fuck would you play wrench mind when you know he has a spell skits?
