I just happened to be thinking about making a G&T tonight when this video suddenly popped up in my feed. Nice timing, and thank you sir!!!
Oh I love the simple idea of putting herbs in the ice! Good for preserving some extra leaves before they go bad!
Thank you for breaking down the ice part. Definitely elevated my G&T game 🎉
Excellent tips on making a better gin and tonic. I keep Empress around, and it's definitely a good gin to have on hand.
Thanks Bob! I’m happy you like the tips … also to hear that you like Empress 🤩 Cheers
45 seconds in and I liked and subscribed. Your presentational style, voice, sound editing and videography just make me say, YES! OK now, back to watching your educational video.
Thank you so much! Welcome to the fam! Cheers!
Thanks for the barspoon tip! I shall try that this very evening.
Awesome
Empress also makes a nice colorful Aviation cocktail. And another great episode, going to try the orange blossom water, thanks!
Cheers to that! Thanks
That looks like the best Gin and Tonic ever created wow! 😋👍
Thank you 🙏
That sounds and looks like a really great Gin & Tonic.I prefer The Illusionist Dry Gin, it's organic and changes its colour as well. Of course I like the taste as well. Schweppes Dry Tonic or Fever Tree Indian Tonic are my favourite Tonic Water to go with The Illusionist.
Ok I'm drooling right now. Best G&T ever. 🖤🤗
🤩 Let’s have one
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Suis prête 🙋♀️
love ❤️ G&T !! got nearly 50
bottles in my bar
Lucky you 🤩
Another great episode. Need to try this gin. Also were did you purchase this beautiful gin glas?
Recently, many great Canadian gins have become more relevant in the market. Empress is definitely one of my favorites out there. Other great ones include Ungava Premium, Reid's Gin, and Valley of the Mother of God. All of them have amazing botanicals and flavors and work well in classic cocktails and G&Ts. Hopefully soon, I can see more Canadian classical and London dry style gins with the same high quality of these botanicals.
You are right, Canada now has a wild selection of Gin! Happy to hear you also like Empress 😃 Cheers
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks keep the good work TOTR, big fan here! Your whiskey peach smash is one of my recent favorites, btw! Cheers!
@@gnrnando88 oh! Thank you! So happy to hear this 🙏
Le Romeo’s reste mon gin préf. Cheers JF!
not only does he make a cool G&T but he also wears a 'god tier' Casio Royale timepiece 🙌🙌 .. nice work 👍
HAHA!! Cheers!
I do love the empress gin!
Me too! Love everything about it!
I need to stock up. I'm out :)
Very good tips! Although to hear the whole story keep in mind that there are some guys in the industry that consider the bar spoon trick not that good having that it creates nucleation points when bubbles form and carbonation gets lost
Gin an tonic shouldn't even be stirred
Bar spoon ruins the carbonation.
The best way is to add gin first ,then tonic and then add ice so the drink can be mixed by the addition of the ice
Hey guys, I think we are talking about fine tuning here and apparently you know how to mix drinks. But for a lot of people, this technique has been working and whether or not you like it, it is undoubtedly better to do this than dropping tonic like an animal in your glass. The lost of carbonation happens when a foam of bubbles forms. So if you pour it gently, with or without a spoon, it will help you to preserve the fizz. But as I always say, you do what’s good for you. Cheers
Thanks a lot for all of your valuable hints on a recipe which apparently seems so simple. I think yout tips will get your g&t on another level!
I am really interested in your Copa glasess. Where can I get these?
Thank you Christian, this glass is from Waterford crystal
Im new to gin tonic. Where is it possible to buy those mandarin oil and floral notes in Europe?
Same as the gin you recommend.
Looks great and tasty 😋
Amazing video. Can you share which glass you used?
It’s from Lehmann
Thank you for these great videos bro
Thanks! Cheers
I know nothing about gin. I am not saying it's bad. I am wondering why it's blue? I've never seen it before. Great recipe! Thanks
I was just thinking about going to get a gin for some martinis. Guess I'll pick up some tonic too lol.
G&T to start and then a Martini. That’s an epic combo 😉
Since i dont have gin available for the moment what about using akvavit as a substitute?
I do have a bottle of a swedish akvavit that i really do like.
I must admitt that the gin you are using are on my wishlist from now on.
Why not
Where did you buy the "large Copa" stemmed glass? Cannot find it.
It’s from Waterford crystal
Looks great. You really need to talk about the tonic though.
Where in Spain? I’m going this July and would love to visit your bar!
Im in San Sebastián but not working at a bar anymore 😉
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks A beautiful city! We will be heading south. Thank you for your content!
Where can you get orange blossom water?
It’s very common in grocery stores and it’s really cheap
Which essential oils do you use specifically? I want to be sure I don't poison myself xd
Using GRAS essential oils. If you are in doubt and want to learn more about this, look at the video about essences on Art Of Drink TH-cam channel. You’ll find everything you need to know
To bad i don't have Empress at home today!. It will have to be made with a Spanish gin instead :)
Sounds like a good compromise
The video is very interesting! You explain very well all the steps and processes to follow to create a good gin and tonic, but I disagree with the way to serve the tonic. There are already several scientific studies that refute the idea that serving the tonic by the spoon makes the tonic retain more bubbles. What's more, it has been proven that this way the tonic loses more CO2.
Thanks for the comment Nicolas. I would really like to know where your studies come from because I’ve yet to find one that really proves that. On top of that, my personal opinion experience really consolidated that practice. But I’m always willing to learn if you can point out the proof of what you say, I’m down.
Wow, I wouldn't have guessed Gin and Tonic is a big hit in Spain.
It’s like a religion here 😂
Gin Mare is distilled in Spain & is one of THE best gins you can buy on the market, I would highly recommend it 🍸👍
spain has some great gins!! gin mare is one of them!!
I know right I always picture British people in top hats when you say Gin and Tonic
@@user-jy4jr3ov2s not anymore G&T is a great
cocktail with o tone of variations!! i love Botanist as well!! with greeh apple and premium tonic 😋
Sorry but that part about lots of ice falls down really quickly when one considers surface area. Put ten ice cubes in and you have forty times the surface area of one cube (roughly) and each tenth of a degree rise or a constant temperature will release a lot of water, offsetting the stronger rise in temperature imparted by one ice cube. That thing to do instead is to freeze your gin. The alcohol content will not freeze the bottle, but will allow the temperature to drop well below the freezing point of water. Pure alcohol freezes at about minus 173 F, and the normal 80 proof sold in the USA does not freeze until minus 17 F or -27 C - something that no freezer can hit. Just FYI. But then a super cold drink loses flavor and aroma.
True! That’s why normally it goes in a Collin’s glass. Plus the bubbles don’t escape as fast
I need that yellow chartreuse recipe.... 😏
Haha! Spamming the G&T video to remind me that I yet have to share the recipe 😂 Hang in there mate! Cheers
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks BTW I'm def going to use this video to perfect my Gin and Tonic. Just been on a bit of a chartreuse binge as of late
Sherry and gin tonic? No love for kalimotxo? Haha
Hahaha!! I’m working on an elevated version of it 😅
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks I'm a big fan of the Vampire's Kiss (on Punchdrink) as an elevated version.
You didn't use smeatons gin, so I'm out
Wrong method 🤦🏻♂️
Go ahead and develop. We all want to know 😂
I'm no expert here, but most other videos I've seen about the topic do the exact opposite this guy does. E.g they say it's very wrong to pour the tonic through the barspoon like that, and they say that adding unneeded stuff will alter the quality of an otherwise already-balanced gin (which is supposed to be good by itself, otherwise, why would I spend a lot of money on a bottle...?). So I'm quite confused here.... is this video a parody? Are you doing the opposite on purpose? Genuine question here.
