  • When it comes to dedicated drives, you want to make sure the product you’re using works correctly with the games you’re attempting to play.

    If you had looked closer at the racing build it was built for an Xbox controller.

    I had just finished watching that video and honestly I was exhausted. I would never play a sega genesis version of a game when the arcade version is ten times better. Ive bought from him before but I will never again. Saving up to get yours. Keep sharing your knowledge. We appreciate it.

    This racing build is free for the community and was built to be played with an Xbox controller. Your builds cost money.

      Correct but I also have plenty of free work for the community on arcade punks plus also give out plenty of things for free in give aways.
      My drive is universal with Xbox controllers and all racing wheels.

    LOL, I loved this video! - he just calls it as it is, no BS. I agree with you 100%, I actually looked at buying the Lightgun build you showed first. That other guy charges a ton of money! The 2TB drive costs $98 on Amazon, and the other guy sells it for $489!!!!! - that is $391 profit for loading an image onto a HD! Retro Lizard's build is SOOO much better, cleaner, and very reasonably priced. The other big downside to having all those duplicates, and unplayable games is it takes forever to scroll thru the games list. I like scrolling through a list of great games, I do not enjoy scrolling past junk to try and find the good games.

    I agree, or keep the systems separate and organize the drive correctly. This is why I hate pandora, too. That’s another thing, drives should be calibrated to expected hardware. Also anything advertised as “arcade” better have the arcade version, not the PSX version 😂

  • @gamerfridge

    To be fair on the Racing wheel Build They do state it's for Controller in the description and Documentation when you downloaded it .
    "This build courtesy of BYGDick from Retro Racing Lunatics is the CONTROLLER EDITION, meaning it will work “out of the box” with your Xbox style controller"
    They also state the are working on a wheel version: BYGDick has told us that there will be a Logitech G29 Wheel Edition coming soon!
    I am curious if, like you said they add those unplayable games. Still good information to know for anyone downloading this thinking all these racing games are going to work with there wheel.

    • @retrolizardscustomarcades
      @retrolizardscustomarcades  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This already works with all wheels on the market. Use Xoutput. No need for a “Logitech version” that annoys me even more now 😂😂

    • @gamerfridge
      @gamerfridge 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @retrolizard636 I'm going through this build right now. I think I'm going to setup Xoutput, like you suggested, and show what works and what doesn't.

    I feel it is worth mentioning that Dino Stalker (which is a branch off of the Resident Evil Gun Survivor Lightgun games), is in fact a lightgun game. I would know, I've played it to completion on my PS2 via a Guncon 2. It uses the D Pads to walk and the side buttons to turn, and you aim and shoot with the lightgun trigger (i.e. it plays like the Gun Survivor games which also use the Guncon, but better). And it was quite fun. It's also part of the reason why I opted for the Guncon 2 for 1 of the Gun4ir I got recently.
    I know you mentioned lightgun games are on rail shooters at the start, but it would be a shame to dismiss these actual lightgun games just because they have walking elements (Time Crisis 4 - the standalone PS3 release) and I believe the Razing Storm had a FPS mode which you play and walk around with the Dpad/analog on the Guncon 3 and shoot with the lightgun)
    Also I would feel there are times where repeated games are justifiable, if say the console version brings something extra to the table, like extra modes and other options.
    But otherwise, yes I agree, the bloat on these drives are absolutely stupid.

    • @retrolizardscustomarcades
      @retrolizardscustomarcades  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As I mentioned in the video, if the game requires a controller or DPad to play. It is not a light gun game. Time crisis (both versions) on ps3 are rail shooters like the originals.

  • @arcaderacer586
    @arcaderacer586 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The dino hunter type games are indeed bloat but having multiple versions of the same game doesn’t seem like a issue because there isnt enough of them to bloat anything and they all stay in their own platforms and aren’t constantly in your face.
    I do agree about the starsky hutch and dino stuff shouldn’t be on a dedicated gun drive. Then again its always good to have choices between drive builders and people should buy what interests them as its their money in the end.

    I contributed to this video by sending it to Joel in the AM 🤣
    Some people don't totally understand Joel's rant, but as a builder we get customers that see videos like this and go "well that guys buikd has 600 light gun games and yours only has 225.. y r u missing games."
    Most people make their judgement based on the gamecount. Then for a builder to explain to a customer why that game doesn't work is another task in its own.
    Granted yes the driving image isn't labeled for the wheel... customers still want "all the driving games possible" I don't have a racing build... but I have gotten inquiries about getting mario kart on the super nintendo to work with a wheel 🤦‍♂️
