I’m sitting here in 2023 (!) watching this for the very first time. I can’t tell you how much I wish I was a beautiful young woman on the run with a man who loves me dancing in a barn full of good friends ❤ I love this so much it’s hard to put into words. If there is a reality somewhere like this that truly exists, I hope I get to experience it one day!!
I stumbled upon the playlists and have been avoiding physical activity, healthy eating, WORK and a sound sleep watching these. I must have been working or in college classes during this phase because I remember when Genie arrived and then I remember L&L before the wedding. Such good acting and like most here, it makes me long for youth in some ways but even Genie has aged and that brings some comfort. LOL.
I've been mostly silently watching these. Wow it brings back old times. All that old country music on the juke box ( surprised NY had all that though. I'm from Texas) And the older folks. Now the younger people who watched these originally are the old folks. But these were simpler times . Old folks now look like models mostly. I guess I just miss feeling like a kid and knowing those old folks could make everything better. All of my old folks have passed on. I forgot so much of GH. I'm looking forward to the square dancing. We did it in gym in jr high. It was a blast. For the life if me I don't know how old folks used to square dance. I think I would have a heart attack now in my 50s!lol But I used to see people up in their 70s and beyond square dancing. And they ate whatever they wanted. Talk about cardio. I know even the boys started liking squate dancing. I loved it.
Thank you so much for posting these videos. I've watched GH almost from the beginning, but was working during these years and never watched the episodes. I didn't get a vcr until 83 when Laura came back. I watched the the first 200 and now in this group. I'm enjoying your hard work. Thank you!
I wish they would bring them back together, and let them continue their story until they leave together.Their love story should end with them together forever!!!
Bring them back together and when they want to retire for good..they can be killed off together..in some romantic way..like in the movie..The Notebook..where the 2 lovebirds willed themselves to die together.
I support these ideas 100% !!!❤️❤️🙌🏻 And then let GH die at 60+ because let’s all face it, ever since Laura Webber then Luke Spencer each came on the show and then into each other’s orbit, the show changed forever and since they left then were pulled apart, the show has never been the same since. Though I’d rather they didn’t have to die to be together. I even have the perfect melody for their happily ever after: Claire de lune
Instead of dying together they can just retire to Beecher's Corner's and live life on the farm. However, TG was totally against this and that is why it will never happen. But we can always dream and make our own ending.
When all the commenters talk about how GH seems to be going for a different, younger demographic and forgetting all the fans who viewed during the 70s and 80s, I agree. They must forget how timeless Jon Beradino, Norma Connolly, Rachel Ames, and so many more were in that era. Many of them started in the 60s, and lasted until their real-life deaths. None of us who were in our teens and 20s during the 70s and 80s felt that those characters were not important. We enjoyed having the maturity of those characters, along with the skillful acting that the performers gave us. Sad that we are denied that kind of entertainment.
I have to agree with you Betsy all the way yes the old where the very best. There maturity is very sadly missed today breakers my heart. There loving tendern and wisdow of family values are gone also. Today it’s just one big miss understanding mess. The storylines are just crazy killings mod
Ooh I miss Square dancing 💃 😢 I'm a country gal at heart born and raised. Love this story makes me feel so young. I could watch them forever!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I just want to say a huge thank you to you Sus for taking so much time and effort putting these on youtube!!! It really means an awful lot to me and probably everyone else too. It's amazing to watch without commercials every time ya turn around too and without squirming all weekend to find out what was gonna happen with fridays cliffhanger! Do you have any of the old All My Children favorites? I hope you have the ice princess on here from GH. And whatever the next one was because I missed the one after the ice princess I believe. I dont know what happened on any of the soaps since about 1990 or so. I no longer watch TV. It's all bad. So this is just such a treat. I have been GH binging for days! Thank you again!!😎😁🤗🌻❤🌻😊🥰
I understand I don't really watch TV anymore either. But since Genie Francis and Laura are back on General Hospital I watch to support her. So glad you found this place and are enjoying.
This is when soap operas ruled daytime tv. Anthony Geary and Genie Francis are two terrific actors whose on-screen chemistry was so well matched, you almost believed it was realistic. Pure magic. Now GH is dying a slow death and their glory days are long gone, so I say for it's 50th birthday, put it out of it's misery and stop wasting Anthony Geary's talent, along with others.
Still here watching Sus! Thanks for the clips tonight! I'll definitely write down the GH comment line. My support is for Tony and Genie all the way! Have a great night! :-) LOL. I loved at the barn dance how Luke was regressing into some disco moves there during the square dancing. :-)
That's because when Laura was with Scotty she was at a stage where she was trying to be what everyone wanted her to be so she would be accepted as the respectable daughter of two doctors and Scotty really played into that by acting like big daddy, especially after they were married. In many ways Luke freed her by respecting things like her choice to work to pay off her debt for the law books. He believed in Laura as she was, not as society wanted her to be. If we had the privilege of having clips of Laura from the start, you would see that Laura was always rebellious and wild. She also was always running from things and conveniently forgetting or hiding. Luke is the first one to really encourage her to stand and face things. It's a huge change for her. She didn't believe in real self or her choices before she met him. So for all of the rape, she got a lot of strength from being around Luke.
@ZanneMarie Oh by that is wonderful. If I may am Rosie I have been watching since 1976...Well I did try I did not have a VCR back then. I also had to work plus I had my son Dion he was small. At one point in my life at that time in the early 70’s I did not own a TV.. As a matter of fact it was stolen..sorry it was the hood where I lived at that time in my life. It was just my son , myself and a good friend Eva who help me out back then..... Well I was young and very dumb! JMVHO. Thanks. Rosie.
When AG was retiring he was asked in an interview what would be the thing that he will miss the most. Without hesitation, The People. That was it. He said they were like family to him ❤
LOL firedude42! :-) I couldn't have said it better myself, Sus. And I, for one, do not watch the soap operas for the teenage stories or the rotating couple hook-ups that last a couple of weeks on the show. What happened to the romance, suspense, tension, and long-lasting relationships? Uh.....there ARE young people out there who still support the idea of romance. Honestly, can't we all just go work for ABC and become writers at GH? LOL. ;-) I know we'd have some great storyline ideas!
As a viewer, these are the GH parties I want to be apart of! The ones now are almost too formal and boring....but the shindigs like this, whoa! Amazing! It makes me want to jump into the scene!
Fall of 1980, I started Kindergarten, and for my Kinder picture, I had on a Western-themed dress. It was blue-gray plaid, velvet blazer vest, and had the long, pointy collars. LOL! It looked more like the guy's shirts. I wonder if my mom got the inspiration from watching the episodes of L&L in Beacher's Corners!
That line at 4:00 when they are talking about living on a farm and Luke says that together they could be happy living anywhere. Sure isn't the same Luke in 1996 that hated his house and family.
Yea, they changed Luke from a loving, kind, do anything for his family & friends especially Laura to a drunk who cheated, kept leaving his family, & didn't want any part of a family. So sad that the writers had to do that to the character of Luke.
I laughed out loud at her dress. So so corny! They didn't wear dresses like that in the 70s- unless they were the square dancers on the grand o'l opry! One thing I really like about all these is the humor.
I have to agree with you here. I think GH is dying a slow painful death & the writing has been so horrible for so long. What they need to do is keeping bringing back all the old characters & write a REALLY good ending that the fans deserve. Stop slacking, GET GENIE FRANCIS BACK NOW!!! For the love of God, how can they not see this?? TG is 60 for pete's sake! Let's wrap up the L&L saga with some respect & good old fashion story telling!
Still my favorite story line ever. The Ice Princess was good but it dragged out a bit long. Luke and Laura's return in '93 was good but way to much mob activity. And of course, '83 when Laura came back from the dead.
Have a HUGE smile on my face watching this during my lunch break. Genie and Tony are fabulous! People who are not familiar with this story wonder why we are so disappointed with the way things turned out for them and still hope for some kind of LnL miracle. It’s their fault for being so damn good at their craft that they made us fall head over heels for their characters.
Okay.. I think I have an idea.. perhaps it's a request... My real intention was to share all of this with the newer (less than 29 years, lol) viewer, who did NOT see it the first time around... to help the younger GH audience to understand what those of us who are a little older are talking about... what we are comparing too... so you understand our desire and NEED for L&L to be together in the end.... to get some younger blood in the L&L crusaders club....
I think he was never adverse to the IDEA of it when he was with Laura.. he so wanted her to be happy... he liked the barn, and being outside... and he liked the bedroom there... but you'll see coming up the thought about buying a house.. even back in 81.. made him a little green around the gills.. think he must have claustrophobia or something.
It all happens so fast with the camera angle, but did Luke pick up some greasy piece of fried chicken, chew on it a little, wave it in the air while offering to hang some lanterns or whatever for Mrs. Whittaker, and then hand Laura the meat and say, "Here, do something with this" ??? lol.... like a sloppy teen-ager
Yeah.... me too.. but they want the younger demographic... they don't understand that younger people are into L&L too!!! Viewers are smart enough to know that they won't be 18, 23 their whole lives.... and they still want to be with the person who makes them better, who they enjoy, who would die for them... in their more mature years as well, no?? Why do they think the younger viewers want to watch a bunch of 16 year old brats?? An ensemble cast should show life and love at all stages!!
Square dancing! Man I hated that in school. :) And Hutch has a thing for Lucy. :) I want to watch some square dancing in current GH. :( Can you imagine Sonny square dancing? ROFL! Seriously tho I want square dancing on current GH. :(
oh i agree ! I will continue to call I wonder if this is all a set up that they have plans to reunite L&L (hopeful thinking) You cant tell me that they dont realize how upset everyone is and its not just L&L fans ! that are upset
@sonyab1974 Sonny squaredancing!LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hated it when we had to squaredance in gym class in school as well. I had a partner that was HUGE & he would lift me off the ground when he spun me around and made me dizzy, hated him!lol
I wonder if Mrs. Whit(don't know actor's name) had a brain slip because after she almost said Genie she said "HER in HER dress" instead of "Laura in her dress". Maybe she couldn't think of the name Laura at the moment.
@neaners613 It is impossible not to compare... I TOTALLY undrstand... I just don't like to name names.... because the truth is we have no clue.. it has to be bigger than the writer. Oh my, the smile on Mr. Whittaker's face at 9:18, asking "Lucy" to dance! I've never seen him light up like that:)

He can't stay quiet while you watch... you have to comment once in awhile that's what makes it fun!😉
Mary Wylde Hey! Who you calling old??? 😂🤣😂🤣😂
All I could think of when they were square dancing is, "I hope Lucy (aka Laura😉) doesn't lose her wig!" 😆
Thank you so much for posting these videos. I've watched GH almost from the beginning, but was working during these years and never watched the episodes. I didn't get a vcr until 83 when Laura came back. I watched the the first 200 and now in this group. I'm enjoying your hard work. Thank you!
[grin] Mrs. Whitaker: "I can hardly wait to see Ge- her in her dress."
She almost called her Genie.
You guys notice everything. I would have missed that if you didn’t call it out. 😂

Yes, bring them back together just for a month and have them ride off into the sunset so that us fans can have a happy ending to Luke and Laura ❤
Instead of dying together they can just retire to Beecher's Corner's and live life on the farm. However, TG was totally against this and that is why it will never happen. But we can always dream and make our own ending.

Ooh I miss Square dancing 💃 😢 I'm a country gal at heart born and raised. Love this story makes me feel so young. I could watch them forever!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Luke & Laura should of stayed on GH in the 80's & make a annual trip to Beechers Corner every year.
I just want to say a huge thank you to you Sus for taking so much time and effort putting these on youtube!!! It really means an awful lot to me and probably everyone else too. A Barn dance in Beacher's Corners would be just my cup of tea!
Laura reminds me a bit of Joanie on Happy Days with that black wig.
Yes, you're right!
Lol. Yep! Now that you mentioned it.
OMG, it looks like it was so much fun to be on a soap opera back then

They are having SO SO SO MUCH FUN. And so are we.
Yes I loved the Whittakers. They were so sweet, and Luke and Laura needed sweet, parental figures.
Laura just seems Happier with Luke, more herself than with Scotty
That's because when Laura was with Scotty she was at a stage where she was trying to be what everyone wanted her to be so she would be accepted as the respectable daughter of two doctors and Scotty really played into that by acting like big daddy, especially after they were married. When AG was retiring he was asked in an interview what would be the thing that he will miss the most. Without hesitation, The People. That was it. He said they were like family to him ❤

They were so cute, being taught to square dance.. Making plans for their future.
Are they the only young folks in Beecher’s Corner? 🤷♀️. The older actors are fun to watch. Oh, wait! Now I see some kids! 👍
It's interesting that Mrs. Whittaker mentions a son who is away at college... They didn't really follow up on that, I don't think.
Frances Larsen
You are right, the storyline doesn't follow up and the son is not mentioned again. 🤷♀️
Hey, isn't the guy calling the square dance the same guy that called the square dancing scene at their wedding?

Hi 003rere!
That's what I've been hoping.....that the current storyline is just a long setup for a L&L reunion. Wouldn't that be fabulous?! :-)
I wonder if Mrs. Whit(don't know actor's name) had a brain slip because after she almost said Genie she said "HER in HER dress" instead of "Laura in her dress". Maybe she couldn't think of the name Laura at the moment.
You mean Lucy.
YEAH... MAYBE!
Why does everyone speak with a pseudo-southern accent? For gods sake they’re in New York not South Carolina!
Luke and Bobbie lived in Florida for a while and Hutch lived in Virginia
I’m from SC.. lol omg 👩🏼🌾 tht hick accent I sure hope I don’t sound tht bad
I wonder how old Mrs Whitacre is supposed to b...probably mid 50s. Mid 50s looked old in the 70s 80s. Like Edith bunker on all in the family
Luke doesn't seem so averse to settling down here!! So much for Laura being the one who forced him to lead a quite life!
Sucky re-writes. Just like them saying Luke envied Sonny for all he had and it was Laura's fault he couldn't stay in the mob. Horrible lies!
HI back just saw your hello tonight sorry i missed it :)

@jimmywaynegirl Hahaha can you imagine Sonny square dancing? ROFL! You had a bad partner in school hahaha!
@sussezq I wish I could call the GH comment line but its long distance. :(
Supposed to say Lucy in her dress, who's Laura ;)
I could have sworn the Whittakers said at one time that they couldn't have children?
