I'm old enough to remember back in the day (mid 60s) the Royal Enfield Interceptor was considered a gentleman's bike while BSA would produce sometimes freakishly fast 650s. Later, Norton 750s were the fastest. I briefly had a Norton 500cc twin with rear hub suspension and would ride with the owner of a motorcycle shop who rode an Interceptor 750. His was a rather stately, sedate ride.

Thanks for posting! What a great survivor. Excellent run around the block and commentary. The original Interceptor! Nice to have the two models, awesome ;-)

I rode right foot shift bikes in the 70's, and I agree it actually comes natural to go from left to right side. I love to hear facts and figures about the old bike, so, big thanks for an awsome video!!

8:08 you mean 360° as were all British twins of this era unless modified to a 270° crank. 180° twins were and have always been very Japanese. The sound of this is absolutely 360° and distinctly British. Funny enough, BMW boxer twins (and the now discontinued 800 twin) are also 360° and can sound similar.

That’s correct! I know the right thing in my head but say it wrong. Both pistons move together and fire at different times.

Bike looks like new in video. Sounds wonderful. Took me for a long ride down memory lane.

Great video! That bike kicks right over. No way in hell that I could get my brain to remember the shift pattern.

Dylan, I had a friend who passed away about five years ago who owned a Royal Enfield Interceptor of this same time period but he told me before he died it needed a transmission. If you want I can ask his widow if she still has it. It was stored in their basement in Meigs County Ohio. Let me know if you're interested.

I am interested! These old interceptors are great bikes no easy to work on. Please let me know what you find out, thanks.

Cool bike, man! I'd love to own something vintage but those reverse controls and such kinda scare me... 😉

180 degree firing? With a 2 cyl 4 cycle engine? How is that possible?
