      Man Utd fan here. Wasn’t panicking with the 1-0 to Fulham or the 2-1 loss to Brighton. There were some very fixable mistakes in both games.
      What you have to factor into this is that over the last 3 years Man Utd have lost to Liverpool 5-0, 4-2 and 3-0 at OT and 7-0 and 4-0 at Anfield. There is also a 2-1 and 4-3 wins at OT and a 0-0 draw at Anfield. So to summarise Man Utd have been mostly battered at home and away by Liverpool. If they win, it’s at home and it’s by 1 goal.
      That’s why Man Utd fans are justifiably upset. ETH was in charge for the 7-0 at Anfield. It was completely unacceptable. The team crumbled, and he has just took charge of another dominated performance.
      I was never Ten Hag out but I can’t see how you can put in such a terrible performance against your biggest rivals. Liverpool was splitting blood at their 1 goal defeats at OT. The reaction is 100% justified

    The issue is that the club has been transitioning since Fergie left and never stopped because once we start getting bad results, the manager's gone and suddenly a new manager is in and we're going a completely new direction because there was no club structure with managers being the sporting and recruitment director as well. The transfer policy has been disastrous under Woodward and Arnold continuously overpaying for players and their wages while constantly chasing big name players but then panic buying at the end of the window when they can't get them, the overpaying for players. There have been numerous occasions were we missed out on young talent like Bellingham and Haaland because they couldn't provide a clear vision for these talents and look where they are now.
    This is INEOS' first season and they have brought in a club structure and a transfer policy with a clear vision that focuses on the future while being sensible about fees and wages, this is a rebuild on top of the first rebuild under Ten Hag and it needs time to cook, there will be more bad results and performances but once the team starts to properly gel we'll be back on track to get back to the top and this time I believe with the new management it will actually stick.

    • @pratosaurusrex1128

    • @BenMcManus
      @BenMcManus 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      What gives you any faith that ten Hag is the right man to see the vision through? Because all I see is familiar failings and no attempt to really change anything other than personnel. I mean sure, we're not conceding 20+ shots a game this season, that's great, but we're also not scoring goals and we're making so many mistakes, every time we concede it feels as though the loss is inevitable. One step forward, two steps back.
      I cannot see how this ends in anything other than ten Hag's sacking.

    • @rana1561
      @rana1561 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      @@BenMcManus The failings are familiar because the core missing pieces haven't been replaced, we still have Evans Maguire and Casemiro in the squad, making the risk of losing Licha and De Ligt the same threat, plus the horrible pre season planning that the club hasn't fixed yet. Old ones aren't good enough, and young players not close to complete yet, too few players with the required physicality and sharpness and having enough experience together. This is a proper start of a squad rebuild, and will take time and continuity.

    • @BenMcManus
      @BenMcManus 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@rana1561 Then change something!! I can't accept losing so many games because the manager is too stubborn or not humble enough to do some introspection and look at the evidence that his ideas are consistently coming up short. • @rana1561
      @rana1561 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +14

      @@BenMcManus he's been compromising with his philosophy since day 1, remember those first few games where the team was incapable of building from the back, incapable of winning the ball back while pressing, incapable of holding the ball, incapable of pushing the rest defence line up confidently to close the gap, he spent the whole first making them play without a press, even had to give away the press last season, how long should he compromise because the club has left the squad profiles all over the place, I'd rather want him push his principles and keep exposing the rot in squad for the world to see, this is the true level of the squad, it's high time the players sink or swim. I think even ten Hag is tired of reverting to a setup a weaker side would implement when even the smaller clubs have managed to recruit players that can facilitate better physicality, pressing, hold up and positional discipline. Ten Hag is not scared of getting sacked because of a sub par squad, and i think even the newly hired experienced executives know how much behind the squad is, that's why instead of big signings they went for more number of replacements, and still find a lot of work left. The defeats will be necessary, because just to avoid too many losses, too many managers have been made scapegoats already in the club, not once the club worked on fixing the squad, INEOS has barely scratched the surface. Ten Hag was extracting performances in champions league with a side from a so called inferior league, but they refused to see the brute force needed to fix the inferior squad we have in process.

    United are halfway through the open heart surgery Ragnick recommended as he was being fired, so it's all a bit of a mess. Ten Hag took over a shit show and is trying to build a winning side from that chaos. Sadly progress isn't linear and you get humbled by a far superior side like Liverpool occasionally, who were title contenders last season and are a well run club unlike United. Ten Hag might not be the guy but he deserves to at least have a fit starting 11 of players he chose to prove if he can progress to top 4 this season. 3 games in is a bit soon for folk to be calling for his head.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not sure there's been a SINGLE game that EtH has had his first choice 11 starting since 2022. Meanwhile, City is so deep that their sub/reserve XI could compete with most other PL starting XI's. Would ANY of United's starting XI get in to the starting XI of City or Liverpool? For people saying anything about 3rd season and all that I want to ask specifically three questions
    1: if you were to rate man united players individual performance how many of those players will be below 5? My answer about 7 ( casemiro(0) Bruno (3) kobbie (4) zirkzee(3) rashford (4) garnacho(3.5) onana(3)- our whole midfield and strikers . Now ok the opposite side rate Liverpool players below 5? My answer 0.
    2: 3 mistakes by individual players critical to the game play was made (casemiro 2) , kobbie (1) and was pounced upon by the clinical ability of Liverpool players . Man U got chances but they couldn’t make the use of them either by finishing or making the correct passes,why? My answer is individual incapabaility
    3: if Liverpool had all Man U players and Man U had all Liverpool players in that game playing that same tactics, do you think Liverpool will win ? My answer No , why because the absolute incapability of casemiro would have allowed us get the ball with gravenbarch everytime , the duels won, the technicalities, the physical and mindset of the players wouldn’t be thesame .
    Now lastly coach give tactics and player plays the game . Physical, mindfulness , wisdom , common sense is all down to the players , all goals where conceded by players errors , so many wrong passes where made by players , so many duels were lost by players , the players incapability disrupted any plans made. I hear fan channels immediately Liverpool scored a goal went straight to ten hag ,united stand, united view , kg the comedian , forever united , saeed, rants , and when you ask the question about what he has to do to the answer is he has to improve the players Physical, mindfulness , wisdom , common sense. Clicks, views, going with the crowd have removed common sense from people that even my brother who didn’t even watch the match told me yes ten hag is the problem . If 11players play on an average of 7 and we lose then I blame the manager but if you tell me 5 or 6 of the players played below (5) and you think it’s the managers fault .🤷🏾

Lots of if’s though and there is definitely a problem between styles/fit of the players and how fragile their mentality is. ETH wants to play high pressure, possession. Some of the key roles in that system though aren’t consistently fit or don’t suit that style but are almost undroppable because of their status, wages or injuries. But a great tv special back in 94 with Bobby Chalton and a young Ryan Giggs inspired me and that hooked me into United. It's nice to see rival fans being objective with different teams. 👍
    Liverpool do have an amazing spirit and I have always admired that. You'll Never Walk Alone is the epitome of that club. 🙏

What’s going on at the top is finally being taken seriously and I think the future is so bright and i do believe that we will be back but right now we r in transition. When Liverpool were in transition a couple of seasons ago, nobody was whinging but when it’s utd it’s diabolical.

    There's always excuses for Ten Hag but nobody gives good arguments why his tactics are good. His 316 in possession and 424 out of possession is not sustainable. This fan base high roads people criticizing the manager and call them negative, but in the same breath scapegoat players like Casemiro. Kobbie had the same problem as Casemiro when he played in the single pivot and Ten Hag didn't adapt all game. You guys want this club to fail, you're not man utd supporters, you're Ten Hag supporters.

  • @javorgeorgiev6130
    @javorgeorgiev6130 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The frustration comes from it being the third year of a rebuild that has been incredibly half assed. First year two key players were stop gap signings- Casemiro who was fifth choice and came in for way too much played every game he could with no viable rotation recruited. Eriksen also played every game he could with again no viable rotation option. Eriksen wasn't even supposed to come in as a starter. Ten Hag thought he was getting an experienced squad player and they'd also get a new 8. Martinez did amazing, but also came in for way too much. Every possible deal negotiated ended at either a small or a huge loss for the club. Antony was not supposed to come for 80 million. Ronaldo was at the very end of his career and Anthony was incredibly injury prone. Neither should have been starting, all the club got was an emergency loan Weghorst. There was no real clearout of many players that should have moved on way before Ten Hag came in. Somehow he made it to third with all the drama happening. His game management then with how many wins out of nothing were squeezed evaporated from all memory.
    Then comes the next season with people having far out expectations with zero chance of being met that the team is going to "build forward" from that place and do just as, or even better. No chance in hell. Next disaster summer transfer season begins.
    The club has no strikers. Martial still can't play, his legs are gone. I don't know how much of it is Ten Hag's fault, but recruitment wastes the whole season chasing after Kane who'd cost no less than a 100 million pounds besides wages which Levy obviously had no intention of ever selling to what is now a close rival for a spot at the league table. No "experienced" striker came at all. The rotation option that would be a younger player to develop also came at a premium price and started nearly every game with enormous pressure to perform immediately. Despite fans patience the need was there. Eriksen and Casemiro are cooked out of their last drops of energy after a heavy first season and still neither have rotation options. Amrabat barely ever played in his position. Rashford can't replicate his form as the team is no longer built entirely around him shooting and he can't adapt at all. Likely doesn't want to as he preferred a striker like Martial that would create for him and move away from goal. The complete lack of any squad depth was fully exposed that season along with still almost nobody but De Gea on his massive wages being moved on.
    Another interesting thing is Ten Hag for one was not interested in immediately replacing De Gea. He wanted to reduce the massive contracts multiple underperforming players were. While De Gea was only underperforming in terms of on the ball ability relative to just about any keeper in the league besides Pickford, he wanted to keep his wages and a contract longer than just a year. Agreement couldn't be reached and he left with all the blame coming down on Ten Hag alone. Onana comes in for higher than he should have. After Rashford's one good season, despite Ten Hag's fruitless attempt at reducing wages, gets a huge new contract almost as if the owners are picking players for the manager based on how many shirts they'll sell. Bruno plays almost the full season out of position. Not by anyone's choice. There were no viable options outside just playing every academy kid. Bruno has nobody to rotate with yet again and is fatigued.
    Everything goes wrong including the best 11 being available less than 5 games the entire season.
    Third Season approaches. Ratcliffe is here and he's also desperate to get "his man" in and get rid of the manager to prove how he's so much different than the Glazers. Barrada and Ashworth come in a bit late to the party and go against Ratcliffe right away preferring to back Ten Hag. Third year into supposed rebuild with very little "rebuilding" happening. Almost one foot out and one in. Mount has to be both a winger, a 10 and an 8, not necessarily because he's amazing at all three, but because the manager doesn't trust recruitment and needs someone to do everything. A 19 year old has to save the club as the only good starting option as an 8. At this point probably a better 6 than Casemiro too. Still playing a developing unproven striker and get another one. De Ligt, Mazraoui, Ugarte arrive late. The squad has pretty much had less than an actual week of training together. Preseason was a promotional tour for the owners to make bank and key players to get injured. Almost nobody is sharp, or fit. Still no real clearout, too few signings for what were decent prices, but in the background of how many more needed to be bought and sold, too costly. All Ten Hag can say publicly is repeat "We need many more signings" without blasting recruitment. All this builds up to what should inevitably be a poor, slow start to the season for a team praying no more injuries happen at all and on paper aren't going to be good enough for anywhere above 5th under ideal conditions. Still no real rotation options for almost every position. Yoro - the other developing player that shouldn't even be a starter comes to play for a very high wage as if Ten Hag's efforts to reduce them are for nothing. He's not going to sign a new contract next year on lower wages. Cost can only go up.
    We can't know is Ten Hag the one doing all this telling recruitment to only buy him players for over 50 million pounds and to sell nobody. He agreed on the "open heart surgery" statement Rangnick had, so I doubt he's the one pushing for few expensive signings every season. He's getting criticized over player picks when there's nobody to pick from. Not starting Rashford isn't going to win you a match. These losses aren't happening because any one specific player shouldn't be starting and that's with Casemiro's blunders included. Garnacho is just as poor defending and just as inconsistent, but also inexperienced. Both have produced more moments than solid performances. Both don't hold width well and are poor creatively, for both there's no left back to overlap them in their best position. Not having enough players is leading into a looping spiral of failure where the ones that are good get overplayed and can never regain their form back and the ones that were never good enough have to start or academy kids have to perform miracles.

Ten Hag and what he's done with this united team is quite impressive considering the variables he's faced from injuries to lack of options. While yes he hasn't looked the best you have to realize a manger can only do so much to help a team put pep on fulhum they dont get much better but put his foundation under fulhums manger and they become a much better team. You can take a look at Carlo when he was at everton and madrid now and you can allso look at ten hag at ajax and bayern teams with amazong foundations how well he is under them. So unless we want to restart the same cycle that we've been cursed with its best we stay with ten hag give him and Ineos a year or two complete the project and only then can we judge. Losing before an international break always sets up a fun news cycle around us.
    We lost to two of the best teams in the league (albeit a small sample size, but that doesn’t stop people from judging us off that either), in games that by the metrics were closer than the story allows. So for a month it’s been/will be negative and scrutinizing.
    Ten Hag deserves criticism and has to answer questions. But there’s a quasi unrealistic stance a lot of opinions stand on (from our own fans as well) that our squad is better than what it is. Focused on price tags and not performances.

  • @docoz_09
    @docoz_09 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Far too many people blame the manager and not enough people call out the players. Since the run up to Solskjaer's sacking, players have been an issue that not enough fana and pundits call out. Yes, Casemiro was directly at fault for 2 goals, but Fernandes' passing was no better. Or Onana in whom, I have decidedly started losing faith. David de Gea was losing his way a bit, but was still a better shot stopper than Onana, and in the grander scheme of things, I'd rather have a shot stopper than a distributor (PS: Distribution is why we brought Onana, and he's not even showing that!). The coach can change formation, tactics and selection but if the players who are on the pitch can't recognize the flaws in themselves that allows them to cover it worse, do the basic running required to be a top 10 side, then it doesn't matter. Zidane or Pep would do no better.
    Also, I just want to point out the supremely lazy analysis that Ten Hag is trying to "recreate his old Ajax side" or only buys players from Holland. Mourinho brought Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira and Jose Bosingwa from Porto to Chelsea, David Moyes brought Fellaini from Everton. Van Gaal brought Memphis. It is not uncommon. The real issues are (and I want people to be intelligent here), the coach does not buy players, the club do. If the management is stupid enough to pay a kings ransom for 1 player, has nothing to do with the coach. And if they are so spineless that they cannot say, player A is too expensive, we'll give you a similarly profiled but cheaper Player B, that's on them too. Van der Sar as CEO of Ajax actually said he told that mug Ed Woodward "how high can you go for Antony?". We now know the answer. The other thing is a deal is a deal. If you can get the player who is value for money for you and/or at least understands the philosophy you are trying to get across, does it matter where they are from. Ten Hag's first 2 games proves that English players at least at the time cannot wrap their minds around the tactics he was trying to pass across, and after 3 years, those who still remain still don't get it.
    Lastly, every club has taken United for a ride, and United want to do only smart deals. De Ligt and Mazraoui even with add-ons cost far less than the idiotic demand from Everton for the one player. Rival fans and pundits would have mocked us if we did that deal. It matters not that they played for Ten Hag before. All it means is that it's easier to convince them to come, especially De Ligt whom we wanted to sign 5 years ago.

    This issue with Ten Hag is that he’s trying to apply tactics which worked in the Eredivisie; a less physical league where there is more time on the ball and less pressure/less high pressing which is a relatively new phenomenon in the premier league which is one of the most physically demanding leagues.
    He’s playing a system which is characterised by quick attacks with direct sequential passing from the goalkeeper to the attacking positions, requiring large amounts of space between players when attacking. He also likes to have his l/rbacks marauding forwards. This means that midfielders have to cover a large amount of space and that there are often only two defenders back, leading to one on one situations if the ball is lost in transition.
    One of the keys to Ajax, is that they had the advantage of being able to hone their ability to play this system under less pressure, meaning when in a higher pressure situation they had more confidence, more accurate passing and so on. It’s unlikely in the premier league that this team will ever have that opportunity to develop confidence or crispness in playing this system, it’s also a lot more taxing physically and mentally as they know that if they lose the ball they are going to have to run like fuck. It also doesn’t help that some players, Bruno being the notable example, Casemiro too often play unnecessarily risky passes from positions where they’re vulnerable to a quick transition. This causes turn overs and tires the team out especially in midfield, which in turn decreases the accuracy and concentration levels further.

    When you play Rashford you always feel a man down in terms of defending pressing and ball winning.
    He did present some attacking threat however but when you compared his work rate to the Liverpool forwards it was night and day. On his day Rashford is one of the best forwards in the Prem however I don't think we will get anymore of those days from him , i think on a personal level the game moved on and teams have his number this is why he finds it hard.
    The Manchester United midfield has been a ongoing disaster and simply United have tried to gaffer tape sticking plaster and any combinations to fix it .
    I could not understand the midfield formation ETH chose to play against Liverpool baffling when he had tried the same combination many times last season and it failed. The goals looked similar to the Brighton goals in terms of finding the back post and a number of players queuing up to put the ball in the back of the net and yet we saw no improvement there. Our forward s found the going tough .
    I am seeing some improvement especially ball retention and the press however no end product.

    I noticed 3 things so far this season:
    Firstly, the first 3 games if the season we have dominated the ball possession, but we need to be more effective on the ball and more intensive in passing it. We could have easily beaten Fulham and Brighton but we failed to do that because of the next issues that I will mention below.
    Secondly, we are very ineffective and fail to punish teams when we put ourselves in great attacking positions, just take a look at the 4 great chances we missed against Fulham (2 from Fernandes,1 from Mount and 1 from Garnacho).Against Brighton when the score we 0-0 Amad could have easily put us ahead and we had great counter attack situation where Amad made poor decision and to add salt to our wound, Garnacho's goal was rightly chopped off. Against Liverpool as much as we were 3nil down, Zirkzee could have scored two goals and I promise you if that was a very lethal finisher those two chances could gone in.
    Thirdly, we don't know how to manage or defend critical situations when the team is either under pressure or when we are outnumbered attack vs defence or when a ball is lost critical position on the field. It seems like every single time we find ourselves in critical defensive situation we are bound to concede, like the two mistakes from Casmiro could have still been defended better if our players have that positional awareness whe we are under attack and the ability to smell danger when we are under attack. All these is evident from all the goals we have conceded so far in the league. To illustrate what makes United's defending bad compared to Liverpool, Arsenal and City, is when you look at in the first half we had counter attack where if Bruno played KDB kind of pass Rashford would have been in one on one with the keeper but Liverpool defended that crisis well. Another example in that game is the two saves that Allison made was two moments of crisis which the Liverpool keeper managed to save the team from, let's not be delusional and make it seem like Liverpool's could've not conceded. The same way we don't have a keeper who saves us in moments of crisis, all the balls just seem to go in. That is one of the big differences between United have Edwin Van der Sar or De Gea in goal. United could have easily lost points when we played the United way under Ferguson, because the keeper was good and the defense could manage a lot critical and moments of crisis with great awareness, football intelligence and anticipation of danger. Man city could have easily been 1nil down against West Ham in the first 3 or 5 minutes if Ederson did not make one or two critical saves in the beginning of the match and the same applies to the Arsenal keeper and defense, they manage critical defensive situations better than United. We literally always concede, it almost feels like panick mode. People won't even realize that we manage to beat Fulham 1nil because we managed those critical or moments of crisis very well, Maguire's interception, Martinez clearance and how he ended defending against Troare. Even Onana made one or two saves which were easy but could easily been goals on any other day.
    Plus to add to everything, the gap between Bruno with Mainoo and Casemiro was really bad against Liverpool, that's why everytime we won the ball quickly against Liverpool we lost it at same rate Because players are hiding and not be enough to create spaces to receive the ball.

    The problem was the loss to Brighton. No one can argue that Liverpool is currently a much better team than United. They know they can't make a mistake otherwise they will be ripped to literal shreds by their own fans. It is such a toxic environment . Literally even Ronaldo , the worlds most confident player , succumbed to this endless toxicity. The fans have these extremely high standards for no good reason. And even if the team has a decent game , comparing to previous United teams it still does not live up to expectation. I think playing for United is a living hell, the players get no joy out of it . A joyless team is a team that will never be able to gel , a team that will never be able to build chemistry and score goals . Manchester United has the worst fans , and that's a fact . Liverpool’s big chances (apart from Casemiro's errors) came mostly in the 2nd half, when United tweaked their shape to a more man for man setup, taking more risks and committing more men forwards as they were chasing the game. The chances for both sides grew as a result.
    The game was even and 100% there for the taking prior to the unforced errors. United were let down by their own decision-making + execution in the final 3rd. Both sides had similar final 3rd entries. Not to mention being aided by Casemiro's brain farts for the first two, which swung the tie.
    Ultimately, Liverpool were ruthless with their early big chances - goals change games, and it's what fundamentally decided the tie. But it's not the same as United being outplayed or outfought through a tactical masterclass over 90 mins etc etc. Massive difference and is disingenuous to say so

That is really overlooked, we have new players too, who weren't there for preseason for us or their previous clubs, playing in our first games of our season. I have no idea what happened to Rashford. It's sad to watch Casemiro man, but i believe Urgate will come good, that will allow Case to be a beast in cup games.
    Besides the noise, De Ligt and Yoro will be standout players by end season, as well as Amad and Garna and our strikers, and it will all start when that hole is plugged and hungry players start games.

    I love your content in general but I have to disagree with this. Saying this is a transitional season for United is far too generous. This is Ten Hag’s third season now and no one can say he hasn’t been backed. A lot of the signings are players he would’ve specifically targeted and none of them have been an inarguable success. Coming 8th last year and then starting this season poorly after being backed again. There have been a few injuries which I accept but a complete lack of identity and playing style is simply not good enough, especially when we’ve seen other managers instil a clear philosophy with much less time. United are one of the biggest clubs and after all this time and money spent there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be competing with City/Arsenal/Liverpool. I’d be surprised if ETH is still manager at Christmas

      Not just that but Ten Hag just seems to struggle to get his ideas across. Why bother with a press system when the defensive line is not high enough. We got done by Liverpool for that sole reason alone, every time they nicked the ball off our player in the midfield they had ample room to run into because the defence was so far back. The kind of tackles Liverpool profited from were at best 50/50s and if we had a high enough line there would have been an extra layer of protection. Liverpool’s coach even stated that he exploited United’s disjointed press particularly in the midfield. Casemiro was bad yesterday but at best he exposed United’s tragic press system. 1 bad pass in a compact team shouldn’t lead to goal scoring opportunities. Ten Hag is annoying.

      True, many new managers play much better football in their first year. Ten Hag's system requires too specific players and too intense performances to work. Young lads can do it at Ajax under an Eredivisie schedule. I doubt senior players can do it under the premier league calendar.

    I feel like EtH isn't adaptable tactics wise. In the 2 seasons he's been Utd coach, we've seen new managers come with different ideas and stamp those ideas creating a new identity for their teams eg (Ange, Iraola, Emery, Glasner), we've also seen veteran managers find new ideas to adapt to the evolving tactical landscape of the Prem eg (Pep, Klopp, Arteta) but EtH seems to be stubborn in his ideas. Ever since the "Best transition team in the world", he's been stuck in just one way of football and so far since it's majorly not working and he's still doubling down instead of finding tweaks to make it better. Other than the new 4-2-4 pressing structure, it's literally the same as last season.
    Obviously, they'll do better than last season based on the fact that they most probably won't get that many injuries again but other than that, I can barely see Utd being higher than 6th at season's end. I don't see him as the manager to Utd a Premier League title, he's at most a cup manager unless he realises that he has adapting and tweaking to do.

      The injuries excuse was something last season. But it’s overstated. I mean come on, even with the players fit it’s awful football. Let’s stop acting like Shaw and hojland are the saviors. Or that ugarte will be magic and suddenly the players will have a clue what to do in all phases. At what point will it be ok to say the coaching isn’t good enough, and even the signings don’t make sense. Yoro is an 18 year old center back, he’s not meant to start every game, but could be world class in a few years. Shaw has never been a consistently fit player throughout his career, so I don’t get banking on it at this point. The mazraoui signing is a lateral move but okay I guess. Rashford has been poorly platformed and there’s yet to be a solution for the left side of the pitch. Towards the end of last season, yeah the team was ravaged by injuries, but performance wise the team played like one of the bottom 5 teams in the whole league, and that’s just unacceptable. The performance against Liverpool wasn’t so bad, they were just neutralized effectively and Liverpool was extremely clinical, even with the offside goals.

      We're a different team this season. The new press is much better. Copa America players looked sluggish against Liverpool, zirksee having his first start wasn't up to the pace. Casemero was a disaster. But who on our bench was going to change that game? Amad, maybe. It was absolutely huge, him bringing colyer on for Casemero. Erikson is done. Who else was a game changer on our bench??

    • @marcusnguginganga2829
      @marcusnguginganga2829 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@StuartSmith-kb5pf Utd has barely changed. Other than the 4-2-4 pressing structure, you might as well be the same as last season. There's only one Copa America player who played for Utd on Sunday, Licha and yeah it was a bad game for him. The system Utd is using isn't utilizing your players strengths or hiding their weaknesses and as such, they get exposed massively, creating the individual errors that opponents pounce on.
      Like why is Rashford being used as a touchline winger when he's an inside forward. Why is the midfield setup in such a way that everything defensively depends on Casemiro winning majority of duels which we've seen especially from last season, he's struggling to do. Why is your defence which is very suitable for playing a high line, hanging around at the box. Why is Onana is still majorly kicking long in the buildup phase. Casemiro is being forced to be a progressive passer when we all know that he's a ball winning midfielder. Mainoo instead of being a progressive carrier is being given the extra task of covering for Casemiro' s mistakes.
      EtH's tactics this season feel absolutely half baked. He's being outclassed and he's not finding solutions. He should go back to the drawing board because if Slot can figure out Utd's weaknesses in 2 minutes then what about people like Pep, Arteta etc

I'm doing my couch badges and I can see ways of playing, the inverted full backs, how they beat the press, the wingers position etc etc. The media will say they don't have a style, even after the manager repeated many times about the transactional play and dominating possession, you will get people, especially Liverpool supporters and others who hate United say, they don't have a way of play. I argue the contrary, it's mainly because their way of playing that teams can pick them apart, not because they don't have a way of playing.

Fans are reactionary it’s pretty clear Ten Hag’s system has worked well this szn United have played much better football in every game I haven’t seen United press and pass the ball out the back this well since Fergie was here maybe even ever. Ten Hag set up his team well it isn’t his tactics that lost us the game against Liverpool it was simple mistakes. Last szn untied were awful we played horrible football and lost big I would much rather united finish 7th and play good football, or try to, rather than get UCL and play a poor system with long balls and defending deep so this is huge progress. The proof is the anfield draw last szn everyone was happy we held Liverpool to a draw at anfield 0-0 despite conceding 30+ shots and defending deep the whole game this is huge improvement in performance and style of play even if the score line and result isn’t ideal

    So glad to see some thoughtful reaction. Too many are looking at headlines and extrapolating to a point of disaster because that's where they seem comfortable - everything is brilliant or catastrophic. Brighton game man utd were the better team (Brighton were undercooked as well), deserved a draw at least. Idiotic player errors lead to last minute goal... These things happen especially at start of the season. Liverpool, again the team played well initially and it was clear what was being attempted, albeit imperfectly. 2 crucial individual mistakes from a player that I think most in the hierarchy would have hoped wouldn't be here this season and the team lost their composure for a bit and Liverpool were excellent at taking advantage. Added to that poor finishing, and the scoreline looks very one sided. I'm not arguing that Liverpool weren't the better team... But I think the description of the score as a "thrashing" purposefully overlooks the details. The point is, man utd are instigating a style of play that, when mastered by the players will be successful against most teams. It's possible to snatch results against the best teams by playing counterattack like under solskjaer, but then you run into teams you're expected to beat and they do the same to you. Any coach would experience teething problems making this transition. I'm not wedded to the idea of ETH no matter what, but let's complete the transition and then see how he matches up against the best in the detailed tactical aspects that marks great modern coaches. If he's found wanting we can replace him with someone who will have a solid foundation for once- not a mismatched squad of players with poor attitudes who can't play the way the management wants. Struggle is a necessary part of success.

    Laurence your positive take is all good and well, but when you finish 8th last season and by the numbers should have finished in 15th, and then serve up what we watched on Sunday at home vs your biggest rivals in English football, I think it's very easy to see why a lot of United fans would be as angry as they are. The talk of injuries won't fly this season. Losing to Liverpool is one thing, but losing like that? Come on man. He's been backed, the structure above him has changed and now it's time for EtH to deliver. The performances have to improve in a big way. The tactics have to improve in a big way. The midfield cannot continue to remain open. We've seen that in all three games so far and the performances have varied and dipped since we played Fulham.
    Like I get it, Casemiro certainly didn't cover himself in glory at all, but I'd also argue that the tactics and set up have not been benefiting the players and getting the best out of them. We are in year 3 and after 3 games look at the conversations we're having. I think fans will be patient with the players who have been brought in because they need to get familiar with the players who have been here and get up to speed with the game in the prem. But EtH won't be given as much patience if any at all.
    As for that question of EtH coming before Ole, I guarantee you that if what we are watching now happened before Ole and then Ole delivered third and second like he did, we'd all be speaking very highly of him. I wasn't his biggest fan but one thing he did for sure is he got the fan base believing we could make a real push in the league and he had the Glazers to deal with. Even under the Glazers EtH has been backed more than Ole was; Ole delivered more in the league with less than what EtH has at his disposal. It's time for him to put up or stop talking.

    Fans are still talking about this loss. Like move on. The stats were very close between us and Liverpool. They were just more clinical and we made defensive errors. These things happen. Time to move on to the next game when the break is over.

    As a United fan , I have rarely seen a United team look so flaky and fragile. They also don’t look like they know what they are trying to do.

    Brono is the problem. The coach rely more on Brono. His work is to distribute and not to be sefish. His assist is poor and lowest in the league. Sancho can play that role better than Brono. Sancho can be United's Bellingham or even better.

    the real problem of man utd apart from the obvious is that- They want the team to win the pl or all games just because man utd bought some new players and the manager is there from last 2 season. However, they forget that winning two trophies with that team in first two years is something which is quite hard. man utd fans should understand that a manager has come in and with a worst squad possible and still has won something so we need to have patience with the manager and the team. he is trying to bring some style of play both def and offensive , it takes time. given the squad quality and depth at each position its very hard. imagine Bruno go on injury we will be doomed. there is no quality as well as no squad depth. give the team and the manager time. Look at liverpool , arsenal. Klopp did not win anything for few years but once the team started ticking then they have won the pl, champions league and even after he left the team plays like how klopp used to play. yes arsenal has not won anything yet but they are competing and playing very good football. please give ten hag time and have patience. he has won two trophies with a worst squad, he has already proven that he is good its just matter of time before everything starts ticking.
