This list from Rory and James is ludicrous, in terms of actual enjoyment and performance in the league, Ole should be first. 2nd and 3rd in the league, 6-2, 9-0, 5-1 and several other high scoring victories. Had Pep’s number. Would have won Europa if DDG could save a PDF file.
Sky sports fell off hard... Having a West Ham fan and a Chelsea fan ranking Man Utd managers is just ridiculous in itself.. The disrespect on Solskjaer just shows that neither of them actually watched any United games during the years. This was a hard watch...
Solskjaer wasn’t good he was average no trophies … being second and then nothing to show just like arsenal last two seasons 2nd place and no trophies to show
Moyes - Never managed a top club. Never won a top trophy. Van Gaal - Was building, but sacked after winning Cup in 2nd season. Jose - Played boring football because it was the only way to get results. Ole - Never managed a big club. Ralf - Sacked after saying the club needed open heart surgery. Never did much. ETH - Has a good couple seasons at Ajax. That's about it. Manchester United set a very low bar when it comes to appointing managers, or had a thin skin when it came to managers criticising the club.
Laughable how Spencer is going in on Ole "what did he win? what did he achieve?" while he puts Moyes above him who did nothing and got sacked 10 months into the job. Ole's squad obviously had more money spent on it, but Moyes LITERALLY inherited a title winning squad. Just like he mentions how Slot can just pick up where Klopp left off, the same argument can be made for Moyes too, but he changed so much when he came in and look how that went. He only had himself to blame for his downfall tbh
@@lewisepicfootycontent5934but the Haaland call was so misguided and based on being the guy with the contrarian view just for the sake of it, that you should just disregard his opinion regardless
As of now I don't see how anyone can argue with that list. At least if you're a rival fan anyway, we all know some rival fan will try to make it out like moyes was underrated and was the best manager
1. Ten Hag 2. Ole Gunnar 3. Mourinho 4. Van Gaal 5. Ralf Ragnick I can explain my reason: Ralf was appointed for 6 months or so and did what he was appointed for. Pointing out the loopholes of the club and the squad. He offered solutions but we all know they were needed to carry out by a more experienced coach. Van Gaal stabilized the club but United is not a 43 goals a season type of club. Failed with many important signings. The squad at his time still had players who could win titles but he could not get the best out of them. Yes, he could have been given more time after the FA cup win but he did not have it because his style of football did not reflect the club. Mourinho is probably more dearly rated now than when he was our coach. He gave us 2 trophies, EFL cup and Europa League. But again, losing the dressing room and throwing players under the bus is typical of him when he starts losing. His defensive style of football again did not reflect the club philosophy (which is why I think his recruitment was a mistake in the first place. The owners did not know what type of football they expected out of the club). His boring display over a 3-1 loss to Liverpool at the back of many lacklustre losses cost him his job Ole brought the identity of the team back. It was the first time and probably the only time the team played to its philosophy of direct attacking football. His away record is tremendous, finished in Champions League spots in both the seasons, 2nd and 3rd. Managed the club through a broken structure and never got the transfers he wanted, spending 2 years to bring in Sancho, never got a DM, wanted Haaland but did not get him. Was one penalty away from a trophy. The team did not look beatable on any day by any of the top 6 teams. Ten Hag has taken the long route of rebuilding the team. He also has a decent share of misjudgment like bringing in Antony but the money is the failure of transfer negotiation, not him. He got us couple of trophies, the only other manager to do so after Mourinho. The difference being the style of football is yet not as boring as it was under Mourinho. The team is transitioning with a lot changing at the background. The manager can be given 1 more year (this season) to prove his metal and to declare if he indeed is the best manager post Fergie. He is just in the top spot because he has just met the stature of the other managers and have the potential to go one step further. But can he take that step, only time will tell.
1. Jose Mourinho. The best manager we had in terms of success. 2 trophies in his first year and finished 2nd the following year and a FA Cup final to boot. Unfortunately his 3rd season meltdown was around the corner and it was no exceptions. 2. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. Could have easily been #1 had he won the Europa League final. Silverware had eluded him after multiple semi finals and a final. Back to back top 3 finishes and we were scoring goals for fun and had moments. His limitations as a manager was well documented and it showed near the end of the season we've finished 2nd place. His downfall came after losing to Villarreal in the Europa League final and signing Ronaldo sped up his demise and his fate was sealed after losing to Watford. 3. Erik Ten Hag aka Dr Robotnik. The only reason he's above LVG and Moyes is because of winning the FA Cup and League Cup. Other than that, he played a role in our worst ever season with an 8th place finish with a negative goal difference. Still not good enough to be above Ole and Mourinho. 4. Louis Van Gaal. A FA Cup win is what kept him above Moyes. LVG sold most of our attacking players like Kagawa, Hernandez, Van Persie, Zaha, Nani, Di Maria and completely stripped the squad to bring in dross players like Memphis, Schneiderlin, Rojo, a passed it Schweinsteiger, Darmian, Falcao and his football was so boring that you have more joy watching paint dry. He's the only manager to have a proper structure but his broken football philosophy was so predictable he refused to tweek it and his fate was sealed after failing to finish in the top 4. 5. David Moyes. Easily our worst manager by far and was out of his depth. Should have never been hired in the first place. Moyes was decent for Everton and West Ham but Manchester United was a step too far.
Disrespect to ole is crazy a lot of people make some great points in favour of solskjaer but i dont see anyone talk about his record against big clubs regularly got good results against pep
Ten Haag has set about 40 Man U records, including lowest ever PL league position (8th), lowest ever PL goal difference (-1), first time ever with a minus GD, Most defeats before Xmas since 1930 (13), most defeats in a PL league season (14), Finished bottom of the Champions League with Copenhagen in it, Lowest Champions League points tally ever, First team to allow Galatasaray to win on English soil in 117 years, Manchester United hadn't gone 4 games in a row without scoring in the PL until Ten Haag, He set another new record last week being the first ever Man U manager to lose by 3 goals in 3 PL gams in the last 12 months. Long may his success continue
Sir Alex Ferguson left, spent over a billion, got the best managers we could get, signed the best players we could sign and not even once we come close to winning the EPL or UCL, one of a kind Fergie he was special.
Ole did not win the europa League against villareal because a certain Marcus Rashford couldn't score a sitter. Ole ball was lovely to watch like him or not
Getting a West Ham fan who has undying love for Moyes, a chelsea fan who has undying love for Mourinho, and Joe who has undying love for Ole as a United fan on this panel to talk about these three managers is hilariously stupid from sky
The take on Ole by both guests is completely bad. Just trophy based deductions. Doesn't look like they watched the matches. Van Gaal's time at United was way worse than Ole. Call Ten Hag rubbish but put him in second! What!?
What they did to Ole is not fair, Ten Hag played against Coventry in the semi-final, Ole played City twice, Sevilla and Chelsea. I think in modern football progression is greater than silverware because it brings better long-term benefits for the club.🙁
At the end of the day, a manager's tenure is decided based on trophies even though the style of play is horrible. 1. Jose Mourinho 2. Erik Ten Hag 3. Louis van Gaal 4. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 5. David Moyes Not inlcuding Ralf Rangnick on this and not including the Community Shield as a major trophy.
This Ole argument is absolutely ridiculous. He was given more time and more funds with better players and blew hot and cold in all the three years he was there. Jose achieved the highest points tally in a space of 2 seconds and four finals. Europa league League cup Fa cup Super cup All this with Jones and smalling at the back and a bunch of bunch of dancing TikTokers.
Ole is so underrated, I would have him back under our new structure 100%! Ronaldo came in (which was a board decision) and upset his style of play and the apple cart.
We have to remember what man u were before Fergy. For 20+ years they appointed and sacked managers without success aside from the occasional Fa cup, which is essentially what they've been since Ferguson retired. Ppl are shocked by their 'demise' but basically they've just reverted to type
Ole is easily top 2 in anyones list.... EASILY. Progression can only be seen in the league and he was brilliant in his second and third season. 2020/21 was our best season since SAF.
Personal response to the opinions expressed in this video. 1. David Moyes was a highly respected manager in 2013. For years he'd been seen as Fergie's natural successor. Came into the club, and had no support around him (much like all the other managers post-Fergie). 2. Ole finishing 2nd and 3rd isn't good, but somehow that's exactly what qualified Poch for the Man Utd job (according to the media)? Ole also has an equal best Champions League run post-Fergie. 3. Rangnick was never meant to be the manager. He was meant to be a club advisor. However, how could Rangnick's opinion ever outweigh that of Fergie (who was and still is part of the board)? Match made in hell. 4. LVG is actually the only manager who really managed to instil an identity in that team. Unfortunately, the football was horrendous and I think broke the record for 0-0 draws at HT at Old Trafford. 5. ETH has won two trophies, had to deal with massive issues and has done so admirably. Only manager to get a top 4 finish and trophy in the same season since Fergie. Consecutive seasons with trophies. However, he has shown no tactical intelligence for a while, which could be a result of injuries. 6. Jose'... I agree with Rory, if only we'd have appointed him first. I think he was the only manager who would have commanded the respect of the players post-Fergie.
United did have a lot of injuries last season and finished 8th, liverpool in 2020/21 had a similar amount of injuries lost 6 home games in a a row and finished 3rd the season ole finished 2nd thats how poor the quality of the league was that season
Why do we have non-United fans and United haters ranking this? And they're arguing against an actual United fan and saying he's wrong. We have a West Ham fan saying that Moyes did a better job than Ole and saying it's not because of West Ham bias. Moyes did a better job than Ole? Then he ranks EtH 2nd even though he calls him rubbish. Is he having a laugh? Give me a break.
Still the biggest club in the country/world. Sky is a company that wants to make money - and by targeting as many people as possible, you make as much money as possible.
Wow they have actually disrespected Ole - Not a manager to win the league but considering the structure, environment - Jose, ETH, Ole, LVG, Moyes for me.
“Lvg’s team would beat ole’s” we couldn’t score a goal under lvg it was so turgid, yes he’s been a great manager but at United it was so boring even if it got some good results
big facts. Everyone on Twitter is trying to gaslight a lot of us United fans into thinking Ole is the best manager we’ve had since Fergie. I was there. It was not a pleasant experience for a majority of his tenure
1. Ole 2. Mourinho 3. LVG 4. ETH 5. Ragnick Mourinho spent more money than Ole. That Europa League trophy flatters Mourinho's team. If Ole won that penalty shootout, he would be viewed very differently.
Ole lost the locker room when they brought in Ronaldo and it became all about Ronaldo first and the manager wasn't allowed to manage. If ownership had backed Ole and allowed him to play Ronaldo off the bench or sit him all together like he should have, they he never would have got sacked.
It's a bit hypocritical saying Ole should have beaten Villareal in 90 minutes but LVG couldn't beat crystal palace in 90 minutes and needed extra time and a bit of magic from Rooney and Lingard. The fine margins in football can't be ignored, football under LVG was horrendous and had fans sleeping while Ole got United fans excited and gave us back to back top 4 which none of the other managers have done.

I wasn’t on the show!
For me, van Gaal was more entertaining than his football was tbh. Would have put Ole 3rd and LVG 4th.
1. Jose
2. Ole
3. Erik
4. Louis
5. Ralf
Ole got us playing exciting football and created some of the most exciting viewing experiences as a fan, I’d definitely put him over LVG and Moyes
Sky sports fell off hard... Having a West Ham fan and a Chelsea fan ranking Man Utd managers is just ridiculous in itself.. The disrespect on Solskjaer just shows that neither of them actually watched any United games during the years. This was a hard watch...
I might switch 3 and 4 of Rory's list but otherwise I think it's fine and tbf at least LVG won something.
Solskjaer wasn’t good he was average no trophies … being second and then nothing to show just like arsenal last two seasons 2nd place and no trophies to show
Ole was crap
United are genuinely the only team that could have a section all to their own like this.
We are absolutely massive.
Why invite Rory on? His Haaland call was shocking and completely discredited him as a football commenter.
All commentators have got a prediction wrong at some point

Mourinho
Ten Hag
Ole
Van gaal
Rangnick
Moyes
As of now I don't see how anyone can argue with that list. At least if you're a rival fan anyway, we all know some rival fan will try to make it out like moyes was underrated and was the best manager
1. Mourinho
2. ten Hag

4. van Gaal
5. Ragnick
6. Moyes
1. Ten Hag
2. Ole Gunnar
3. Mourinho
4. Van Gaal
5. Ralf Ragnick
I can explain my reason:
Ralf was appointed for 6 months or so and did what he was appointed for.
His boring display over a 3-1 loss to Liverpool at the back of many lacklustre losses cost him his job
Ole brought the identity of the team back.
Ten Hag gave United their worst ever defeat to their biggest rivals and he gave them their worst ever PL finish btw 💀
Are you forgetting the 7-0 to Liverpool. Ole delivered the worst results by far

Ole's a league manager, Ten Hag is a cup manager.
I go with silverware every time with zero hesitance. The war cry says, "We're number 1, not 2, not 3, not 4," not We're #1 and 2 and 3 and 4. 😂🤣😂🤣

Show them what Rangnick did in Austria. Now Austria is very strong top 10 Europe teams
The music is fire, great choice!

I think Ole should of been offered a job as an assistant manager or coach, we did play some decent football under him.
Best part of the whole show for me was “I actually think Ten hag is RUBBISH” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mourinho spent more money than Ole.
They shouldn’t have get rid of Mourinho !!
