I can so relate to the learning from the videos and then getting to learn hands on from the same person. I watched Doc Jones on youtube and then got the chance to join his school. Then I took it a step further and went to one of his events in Filer, Idaho....THAT ROCKED!!! Nothing like getting to know some of you on youtube and then to actually get to meet. Love this topic and this video....I love watching both of you ladies and have purchased Melissa's books...in fact, I made her pie crust today and made an apple pie from the apples I harvested last weekend from our newly planted apple trees.
Love both of you ladies and have been a part of both of your memberships....the thing I LOVE the most about this is that you are showing the world that you can support one another and become true friends. It doesn't always have to be a competition and slinging mud at others on the way to the top. Thank you for being great role models for our society. Praise God the two of you are willing to make videos like this, such a blessing. (And thanks for sharing all your knowledge that has been life-changing for me)
Ladies, and all others watching this podcast, regarding glyphostate exposure...and dangerously accumulating into our bodies...the other route of exposure no one is discussing is breathing it in, due to Roadside Spraying being done by DOT state agencies, that have work yards in each county. This is being done broad scale along interstates and state routes every summer, at the least. We all need to start complaining to the local DOT offices to insist they stop using herbicide in roadside (row) spraying. They will change if they receive enough complaints.
I think it would be fun to have lessons in old-fashioned entertainment that they used to have during harvest parties and such like dancing. Its important to bond and have fun as a community
💚 Melissa, you were one of the first Homesteaders I started watching and learning from, from one of your Summits..maybe 2018? I heard you speak and met you at the first Homestead Festival in Tennessee in 2022. I was just up in your neck of the woods recently, but couldn't stay long enough for your upcoming 2nd Annual Homesteading Conference in Idaho..maybe next year! Hope it goes well. I've learned so much from both of you! 💚
This is Incredible! I'm so looking forward to your Modern Homesteading Conference again this year! Last year's was Epic! Looking forward to enjoying Jess R&R, Temple Grandin, and so so many more, including yourselves! I had my Early Bird tickets purchased the first hour they were avalible! Looking forward to capturing some Incredible photos again! Great content as always, ladies! 💞💐
I can't attend this year but will plan for next! Thanks for having next year's dates available already!❤🎉 It's so fun when Melissa gets to join you for chat!
You two are my most favorite people to watch. I rarely find new info but your tricks and tips for baking and water bath canning i absolutely love.. what i have learned from both of you is how to can with the pressure canner. my grand mothers rarely did the pressure canning with any of Us kids around so I never learned. thanks for that.
Regarding pressure canning... It is also important to not that at higher elevation water boils at a lower temperature. This is why you need to increase the pressure to achieve the proper temperature inside the canner.😊
The safer way they can manage roadside vegetation is with Alamo side arm mowers and chainsaws, or rotary mowers. We need to start making this request by the thousands! Also, utility power line companies are also using these herbicides, as do town and city maintenance folks. I have had personal experience with this, both with the inhalation issues, both simply by passing by the spraying having been done, and also, having been the sprayer 15 years ago. That said, i havent applied any for 15 years. And im still detoxing it 😢
Hello. Great presentation today. I don't see the names of each of your coffee manufactures for safe consumption. Forgive me if they are here and I missed them. Thank you so much!
I can't wait to meet you both next weekend as one of the volunteers. Question? My two zucchini plants are only producing male flowers, lots of them. This is the second year in a row. What am I doing wrong? Soil amendments?
I'm new at pressure canning, I have my grandmother pressure pressure canner that is 50+ years old, it has a new rubber ring and air vent, is it still safe to use?
I'm so sad guys! Sent the tortilla press to my hubby for a birthday idea, turns out, it's made in China with cancer-causing non-stick! I'm so disappointed you'd recommend something like that. Please help me understand why? I know they sponsor, but why?

Hi Elizabeth, hope I get to see you in Idaho next summer! Happy to hear your still homesteading. :)
I'm so excited to be coming down for the festival with my family to meet you all and soak up as much as I can. ❤ from Grand Forks, BC
It's ok to plant summer squash late. I do an early batch & later batch to keep the supply going. Dehydrating grated is a major budget extender.

I can’t believe that I can’t attend the conference and I live in Northern Idaho!!! Family is arriving and we are having a wedding!!
Maintenance - Funny thing about sustainability is that you have to sustain it!
I'm in AZ. Need to put this in my 'calendar' (as an approx. date) for next year. I could get there in 2 days if I stopped overnight at Winnemucca.
Sounds like fun.. modern homesteading ❤❤ i live in indiana.. wish i could attend
Somehow I did not start any summer squash this year also.😮
Thanks ladies. Send info to son in WA hoping they can plan to go.
What a treat!

It's common for the first week or so for this to happen, the female blossoms will produce shortly later.
Did either of you get a new coffee maker when you switched to mold free coffee, or did you just clean the one you have really well?
I'm new at pressure canning, I have my grandmother pressure pressure canner that is 50+ years old, it has a new rubber ring and air vent, is it still safe to use?
It's a presto canner
I would recommend getting it tested if it has the dial gauge.

Have you cut out peanut butter and peanuts also for mold toxins ?
Yes
Oh. Is your root cellar being put on hold?
It is on hold for the moment.
Well, I was going to rearrange my life to come until you took the cow off the stage…😶🤣 Have fun. I know it’ll be great.
Bio gas from waste!
wow
